That's a point worth emphasizing when people here drone on and on (and on) about how wonderful the handheld market is. It may wonderful and great, but it is a niche market compared to console and PC gaming -- it's almost impossible to make any money in it unless you're knocking off cheap licensed games THQ-style. That may change next gen, but I doubt it.jedimike said:Top 15 for all systems numbers...
Even though GBA outsold Xbox and PS2 combined, it brought in less than a third of the software revenue. GBA + GCN software was less than Xbox software.

Repeated for emphasis. GBA games may make less raw profits, but it's still a great business to be in when you factor in the low development costs.Mega Man's Electric Sheep said:Don't forget that the development costs for the average gba game are much much less than the average console game. I read a $500,000 figure vs. in the multiple millions for the average console game. There's a reason why so much shovelware gets published for gba.![]()

I bet they woulda sold just as many at full retail. I like getting games cheap, but the whole budget shooter thing doesn't make much sense to me. It's the same 10k dorks buying them, regardless of the price.
Doh, why do I keep confusing them.Chi-Town said:Lack of advertising and Namco published SRS.
I was trying to avoid mentioning them. Didn't wanna get anyone upset. Cuz Sony's just doing it for the kids, y'see.jarrod said:SCEA.
