I did a double take when scrolling by that second gif, I was wondering how Goldberg had teleported back in time to beat late 80's Ric Flair.

I love the Dusty Rhodes "Hard Times" promo. I don't mean to get political but I think it applies to today's economy in America and has for a long time. I wish there was more of a mix with wrestling promos and real life stories/issues without being too strong (Mohammed Hassan) or being a too much of a parody such as with Zeb Colter and I like Dutch myself but it's a bit silly.

I really kind of liked how you had Ric Flair and the Four Horsemen in their suits and their limos because that was the 80s and then you had Dusty being the so-called blue collar guy. Maybe when HHH gets full control and Vince retreats, guys will be allowed to get more freedom with their characters.

Aiii

So not worth it
Guys! Get Killzone Mercenary! It's totally awesome.

Also, I am totally not sucking at the MP all the time:

oooo, is it really as good as it looked in screenshots? I"m a sucker for killzone so I'd probably get it.

I've been thinking about a project too.

A wrestling project. No no nothing like the GWF, that's Sunflowers thing.

Does anyone here have any good MOTY Lists? I've been wrapped up in my own wrestling project this year and didn't bother making one, but I'd love to see some

I don't really have a MOTY list, more of a list of stuff I've enjoyed this year, but I'll post my personal top 10 as it stands;

Anywho, here's my long-ass list of 'wrestling from 2013 that's worth a watch';

Hell of a list, going to try to dive in to this soon, as my project will contain a few of these I KNOW.

By the way, my project is a Top 1500 Matches of All Time, because why not? Granted I can't watch everything, so this is obviously a highly opinionated list, and I have about 1/6 of the number of matches I want on the Nominations list before I actually start the listing, but man it really did revitalize my love for professional wrestling again, I just hope I can finish in a reasonable amount of time haha

not bad for the japanese Cena, lol.

Seriously, I feel bad I ever called him that. He's not anywhere near my favourite member of the roster and I still have little desire to see him get another lengthy title reign at this point, but he's undeniably putting on some incredible matches this year, even while carrying a whole bunch of injuries.

Yeah, i wish Cena was White Tanahashi.

God, that would be so much better for everyone involved.

Wow, goddamn, that's a pretty hefty project you're working on there! I'd be interested to see which 1,500 matches you end up with.

Also, I saw you mentioned you were doing ditch's best of 2000-2009 puroresu ballot - I've started working my way through that, not sure if I'll vote though. I'm horrible at ranking matches.

I am only going through Ditch's best because of my list, no way I'd be able to rate that list while working on my own, plus it is not like I am continuously working on the list haha, just a fun side project.

With this corporate storyline with Daniel Bryan I find it funny how wrestling "journalists" are very split on it. With some enjoying it and some absolutely hating it with a passion just look at this. From a question on if they believe Daniel Bryan can be the top babyface of WWE:

PWTorch columnist Sean Radican answers: (1) Yes… (2) Have you followed Triple H's career? This falls right in line with his track record in the past. USA also thinks the McMahon's draw ratings, so what better time for Triple H to grab the spotlight and bury another guy with potential with Cena gone.

PWTorch senior columnist Bruce Mitchell answers: Second question first: You can't blame Hollywood for this one. The answer to your first question is yes, and as you probably know I've been writing and talking about with and for our VIP members for months.

PWTorch editor Wade Keller answers: It's obvious from how WWE talks about Daniel Bryan on TV that they are not confident in his being their top central star, so Triple H (and the Randy Orton heel turn) are ways, in their mind, to prop up what they see as a weak, flawed top babyface "that the fans picked for some odd reason as their favorite." I think they're conflicted and insecure, so Triple H sees himself as "star power insurance." What Triple H and Vince McMahon don't realize or won't accept (because it seems so insane to them) is that fans aren't hung up on height and muscles like they obviously are. They walk around backstage looking down at the top of Bryan's head and tell themselves this guy isn't a top guy. But fans see Bryan at eye level because on TV the camera films him from the side, not the top looking down. His height is virtually irrelevant in most instances, just as it doesn't matter that Tom Cruise or other leading men in Hollywood are short. When it is noticeable that he's short, it works to his great advantage as a babyface with his type of character because it makes him seem like a hard-working underdog who is scrappy, tough, and highly skilled at what he does - all traits that the common wrestling fan would be predisposed to really appreciate.

Man Wade Keller is still butt hurt over the whole grantland interview. Triple H character is working because Wade seems to confuse storyline with Reality. Love how some think this is damaging Bryan's character when it seems the crowds want to see him so bad. He is actually winning clean now. Its like they forget when he was with Kane and how he always took the pin and that never made him weak to the fans. Do you guys agree with their opinion?

Watching Survivor Series 98... this was cray cray

You can tell Vince Russo was large and in charge at that point. Not a lot of quality wrestling, most of the matches are like 5 minutes with overbooked screwball finishes, but BOY is it entertaining, especially if you're a Rock fan.

I'm finally watching this week's Raw....

Big Show / Stephanie segment was uncomfortable to say the least

Rhodes vs Orton was great, hope Rhodes comes back strong as a bigger player

Isn't it weird that CM Punk is off in his own little world when it would make perfect sense for him to be siding with Bryan?

AJ is awesome.

Yeah, but you know Russo wasn't in complete control because the show actually had arc that continued and started new storylines.

That weren't randomly dropped.

it's pretty obvious it's an angle building to Cena returning and fighting the evil corporation. DB is there cause they need the most over guy to put them over as ruthless heels. if RVD or Ziggler were the top face, they would be there, not DB.

God, that would be so much better for everyone involved.

Cena probably has more 4 star matches than any main eventer in WWE history during their run.

Here's the 2013 WO Observer HOF Ballot.

It's time for the 2013 Hall of Fame elections.

The criteria for the Hall of Fame is a combination of drawing power, being a great in-ring performer or excelling in ones field in pro wrestling, as well as having historical significance in a positive manner. A candidate should either have something to offer in all three categories, or be someone so outstanding in one or two of those categories that they deserve inclusion.

The names listed below are those under consideration for this year. To be eligible, a performer must have reached their 35th birthday and completed ten years since their debut as a full-time performer, or be someone who has been a full-time pro wrestler for at least 15 years.

Longevity should be a prime consideration rather than a hot two or three year run, unless someone is so significant as a trend-setter or a historical figure in the business, or valuable to the industry, that they need to be included. However, just longevity without being either a long-term main eventer, a top draw and/or a top caliber in-ring performer should be seen as relatively meaningless.

The maximum number of wrestlers that you can vote for all the categories is ten. You can pick as few as zero if you don't believe anyone on this list deserves inclusion.

For wrestling executives, managers, announcers and other outside the ring performers, you can vote for them and they are not counted against the ten. You can vote for as many as five of them.

no shit, he had 100 times more matches than any other main eventer. even a broken clock is right twice a day.

If he was so terrible a worker, then he wouldn't have been able to have that many good matches. The truth is, Cena is a good to great worker who gets shit on by the IWC because of his character. He's had fantastic brawls, good back 'n' forth 'epic' matches, and great gimmick matches.

Cody's pipebomb.....eh.....Golddust was good for business.

I wonder if Cena will stick around in the industry as long as Hogan did

He will have to be willing to go elsewhere to do so, and I believe Cena when he says he's loyal to WWE.....as much as you can believe anyone with that kind of statement in wrasslin. Hogan was ready to retire I think when WCW came calling if I remember correctly.

oh god, a Cena mark. are you the Heavy replacement? he retired due to sex.

With this corporate storyline with Daniel Bryan I find it funny how wrestling "journalists" are very split on it. With some enjoying it and some absolutely hating it with a passion just look at this. From a question on if they believe Daniel Bryan can be the top babyface of WWE:

Man Wade Keller is still butt hurt over the whole grantland interview. Triple H character is working because Wade seems to confuse storyline with Reality. Wow. It's so weird to see people thinking this is burying Bryan. This is the best story WWE has had in a while because they're not immediately rushing it. And I think once Bryan gets the payback, it'll explode and become even better. I mean, there's always the chance they screw it up but I really don't see that happening. They're obviously building to Bryan doing something big.

I'm much less optimistic towards the Divas storyline. AJ's promo was cool and I actually really like everything they've done so far, but nothing's really changing regarding matches. They're still like 4 minutes at the longest. But I'm hoping for the best with that, too. They've got to start having longer and more frequent matches by the time everyone in NXT is called up. I don't want to see Paige/Emma/Bayley get called up and immediately have zero promos and 3 minute matches.

oh god, a Cena mark. are you the Heavy replacement? he retired due to sex.
Cena has had too many great matches to be anything less than "good". I'm not a fan of the character, but he has good matches.

I'm not a Cena mark. He's not even one of my favorite wrestlers. But, I can recognize good wrestling when it's right in front of me. The truth is, the "marks" are the fans who really hate him have been worked to the max by WWE since about 2006. To the max.

Where things become a bit strange with Cena is that the people who hate him fail to draw a distinction between not liking the man and giving him his due as a worker.

My view is that this is just an evolution of kayfabe -- these are fans who think they are smart are actually getting worked very successfully. The WWE have been really clever at this, they've turned the fact that the business has been exposed back into a work itself somehow. So a "smart" perspective like "Cena can't work" becomes a marketing tool in itself.

Ironically, who was the first person to bring up that Cena "couldn't work" in the context of an angle? Wait for it...Triple H.

When TNA puts Vince out of business, Cena will go there and become their champion after body slamming a 56,000 pound man in front of 98 trillion screaming Cenamaniacs.

how about... no?

he's a piss poor worker whose good matches have come via carrying by better workers (Lesnar, Punk, Bryan, Edge, Orton, etc).

when you say

I can recognize good wrestling when it's right in front of me.

makes me question what kind of wrestling have you been watching.

i guess it's the consequence of the lowered standards nowadays.

I don't even know what to think about the angle. I mean, my heart wants to believe that it is soley to make Daniel Bryan a true superstar. My brain tells me that they aren't willing to NOT let Cena come back and be the conqueror. I don't at all think they're trying to bury D-Bryne. I think they are obviously wanting him to be a top star. I think the ratings, buyrates, and merch sales while Cena is out will determine how the angle ends.

I give him 5-10 more years then.

New Japan, All Japan, CMLL, AAA, Ring of Honor, various 80's sets, and so forth. Cena's not in my top 25 for favorite wrestlers, but I can see the various great matches he's had in the past five to six years. As for lowered standards, it's more like rose colored glasses. Go watch a Nitro from 1998 or a Raw from 1994. Not a whole lot of great wrestling going on in the main event or outside of the cruiserweight matches. This is the best time in WWE history for great matches, outside of maybe the 2000-01 peak and Cena is a large part of that.

Like I said, you've been worked to believe Cena's a bad worker, simply because of his character. If he was such a 'piss poor' worker, then he wouldn't be able to have such good matches, since as great as they are, neither CM Punk nor Brock Lesnar nor Edge (especially Edge) are Ric Flair in 1985.

Pretty sure that Cena's work against Khali speaks for itself, Cena gave Khali his best matches ever

Also, Edge is in no sense of the word a superior worker than Cena, in no aspect. I do not like Cena's character, but saying he is a terrible in ring worker is down right stupid. Now is Cena one of the GOATs? Nope. Is he terrible? Not even close.

New Japan, All Japan, CMLL, AAA, Ring of Honor, various 80's sets, and so forth.

shit, this is like a MMA fan going "dude, i've been watching since UFC 1".

like i said, the standard lowered so much it's unbelievable.

when i think of good and great workers i think Regal, Finley, Malenko, Eddie, Mutoh, Liger, Savage, Angle, Benoit, Vader, Flair, Race... Cena doesn't even cross my mind. and surprise, kinda hard for WWE to brainwash my mind cause, you know, i don't watch RAW or Smackdown, i just watch the matches.

Also, Edge is in no sense of the word a superior worker than Cena, in no aspect.

nope, Edge was essentially better in every aspect.
