A cooperative mode is the only multiplayer option available in Serious Sam II, and while games like this can certainly be more fun if you play them with friends, the co-op mode doesn't do anything to fix Serious Sam II's shortcomings. Fans of Serious Sam will enjoy some aspects of being in Sam's red sneakers again, and the game's goofy humor and corny references to other first-person shooters do give this game a distinct personality. And while the action will keep you on edge, it rarely achieves the sort of teeth-grinding, fist-clenching intensity that you'd expect if you played the original Serious Sam games or are otherwise looking for a totally satisfying no-nonsense shooter.

That is suprising considering the first game was gamespots GOTY that year.

It seems like they took away the best part of the series: killing scores and scores of enemies in huge environments.

The original Serious Sam boasted a 3D graphics engine that could render incredibly huge levels packed with incredibly large numbers of enemies. By comparison, the levels in Serious Sam II seem smaller, and so do the enemy counts (or at least these factors don't stand out like they used to). Both on the PC and the Xbox, when large numbers of enemies clutter the screen, the frame rate noticeably bogs down, which hurts the experience.

This is the entire reason for the first game!

Sorry but Screw media reviews. I clearly remember EGM ripping the hell out of the first Serious Sam game for the Xbox. I bought it anyways because it looked like alot of fun,and it was. Theres always the chance this game is a disaster but I'll rent first then see how I feel about it. If the game is more of the same then theres nothing wrong with that-instant sale.

Its just a clear example of why you shouldn't rely on media reviews. How could they not like a game like Serious Sam? Either they have the wrong people reviewing the genre or it was a case of playing too many games and not enjoying them properly.

Unless the release version is a total 180 from just about everything presented in the demo (particularly on the PC side, god, talk about slapping your fans in the face), they fucked up a huge number of elements that made SS such a kickass game to play (ESPECIALLY with friends)

Well you could always ship me the disks you guys have in your office,I wouldn't mind these generic games.

But anyways enough,I'll cast the review aside and umm,well I'll just *hope* that it plays well enough for me. I'm not singling out EGM btw,just saying that I've come across some odd ass reviews over the years. I trust my judgement the most when it comes down to purchases.

SS2 is nothing like SS1. It's just a boring, cramped shooter with faked personality (based on the demo).

I will wait, I remeber playing serious sam on my xbox straight from beginning to end, after finishing it I feel curious of what was the score of IGN and I was shocked that it was a 6'ish
