Shadow Drop: Tomb Raider Definitive Edition - Switch 1 and 2

epic games also gave them for free

point isn't that you can get it cheaper elsewhere, which has been the case for years now

its still an affordable overall decent quality port for people who can play the game on the go, on a large user base many whom may have never played the game before
If they port a downgraded version of the game that comes in well below of what Switch 2 hardware should entail, then it's by definition a shitty port. Switch 2 owners are now stuck with an inferior version compared to even the ps4, forever. That sucks and seems to be a trend on the Switch 2.

No shadows in the Tomb Raider Switch Edition

Oh damn I thought you meant tr1 trilogy and I'm like you are a year or 2 late. Then I seen the screen shots. Thank you for the thread I had no idea. Off to buy

Fair to criticize the switch 2 version of the game

The Switch 2 is 5 months old. I don't think anything can be considered a trend yet. That being said, last I looked Tomb Raider was sitting at #2 on the Switch 2 sales charts, so all this concern trolling has amounted to an entire hill of beans.

PS3 version is better than S1 version. It's more atmospheric and has better lighting. S2 has it run at 60fps, which is nice. But then PS4 would be better as it's mostly above 55fps in most scenes + better shadows / lighting.

I remember I really liked how that game looked on PS3 and PS4 as it was very atmospheric with great lighting (In my memories). But those Switch versions lack all of what made this game look really special. And that game on PS3 was one of the most impressive game on that console, and probably the most impressive 3rd party game (unsurprisingly programmed by Nixxes).

They really botchered that port. I'd advise people to play the great PS4 version (locked 60fps on PS5) instead of this one.

Now I'm curious how many pages this can go for. The concern about this Switch 2 port is palpable, fellas, keep it up! You may even convince people that $20 isn't impulse purchase territory if you complain a few more pages about the price. Hell, you may convince some people to go out and buy a used PS4 and a copy of this game on that system! Let's keep it going!

Still #2 on the Switch 2 sales charts. 😆

We are constanlty criticizing ports of others games like Dead Space and Silent Hill 2 on consoles and how they are inferiors to the old games.

But we don't have the right to criticize that port because Nintendo pass?

It's still a great game IMO. But if you have the choice it's highly recommended to buy the others versions (including Steam).

Huh? What trend? So far it's been getting pretty good 3rd party ports. Ubisoft's port of Star Wars Outlaws saw three graphic patches to better the look of the game. Plus a port of Assassin's Creed Shadows. Sega's Switch 2 editions have Sonic X Shadow generations is really good and so is the Switch 2 edition of Sonic Racing. RE9 from Capcom is running really well. The only other game that notably did this really badly was Hogwarts Legacy. I suppose Elden Ring too but they're still working on it. Don't see the trend you're talking about here.

Absolutely. I just encouraged it, didn't I?

So $20 for a 60fps port of a 12 year old game that looks worse? No thanks.

Good game but it's dirt cheap on other platforms. Cool for people that only own a SW2 or really want to play it portably though.
The game is $19.99 on PSN as well?

This is the day one release on the platform, clearly they aren't going to launch at $3.99.

New here, eh ? 😉
As you'll soon find out brother, the usual 3-4 people always appear at the right time without fail as to defend any dissenting opinion when it comes to this company.

No discussion to be had whatsoever, you're either a "troll", a "hater" or you're "concern trolling", the only thing that matters apparently is that the S2 and its software sell gazillions and/or are "in the top 5" on the Nintendo store, nothing else matters you see, not hardware capabilities, not graphics, nothing, it's just a constant defence force for some of the most bitter fans out there.

It's gotten to the point where I seldomly post in Nintendo threads exactly because of the thought gatekeeping®

Just a natural conclusion of third parties not caring about Nintendo consoles. Their focus is solely on PS, Xbox and PC. Nintendo ports are mostly just done to add some catalogue sales.

What has Nintendo to do with it? Nintendo can't force third parties to care about the Switch 2 as much as they care about PS and Xbox, that is just how the industry works. If third parties see low effort ports as all they want to do on Switch 2, that is on them and not Nintendo.

shills gonna shill my friend, understand that this port does more harm than good is beyond his intellect

I seem to recall her deaths were pretty grim in the old style, too.
It was also the case in Mortal Kombat, but the level of detail was very low. I think it should have been toned down in later, more realistic Tomb Raider games because it is not a core element of the games, in my opinion.

Sony fans here are just as nasty. It's a console fanboy thing ....there is always this contingent ready to defend and attack, gaslight etc all to project the image they want to have about whatever game or console they want to remain hyped about.

Its truly pathetic and has done so much damage to console gaming

They clearly prioritize 60 fps on switch 2. They could offer a fidelity mode with better graphics setting, sure, but I doubt it could keep 60 fps with the same stability. Neither ps4 pro can't handle it at enough steady 60 fps via unlocked mode if I'm not mistaken and cpu on switch 2 isn't it that much more powerful.
