Shadow of the Colossus Video Preview

The game is looking great as of late. The framerate really seems to have improved. This is easily one of my most anticipated titles.

One of the main reasons I bought a PS2 (among about 100 others). I'm also playing ICO right now, which is awesome.

Thanks man, that game looks simply amazing. One of the things I wished for while playing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was to have a mode that was nothing but pure platforming. No wanky combat, no guantlets of respawning enemies, just you, a healthy atmosphere and some massive environmental puzzles...looks like SotC will deliver on that wish.

I felt the exact same way about Sands of Time. I've always wanted a game where your only enemy is the environment itself.

Shadow of the Colossus is looking phenomenal. I really hope that the areas you have to traverse between Colossi feature Ico-quality puzzles.

Hands down --- the greatest experience I had at E3 .......... If done right, this could be a legend in the making.

It was inspiring the crowds and crowds of people gathered to see the demo - people were gasping, girls were clinching their dudes, and dying on purpose just so they didn't have to leave the demo (for another go at the beast)

The hickups were even passable then, but now it's looking better and better ---- I hope there's more and more platforming later, like in the demo where you had to leave your horse behind.

Damn this is my most anticipated game of the year (more so than zelda..), the music from the intro that they played during that preview gives me goosebumps, i was like, dude, STFU and let the music do the job :p Im gonna go rewatch that intro sequence again, just brilliant.

Ok now I want this game - before this I just had it in my sights. I've got to dig up Ico and complete it before december.

And yeah the music is awesome. I hope they release an OST.

Too awesome for words. I'm going to love riding that horse around exploring that huge world. Sweet Jesus. :D

I never thought I would buy a game like this but these last few videos are starting to me make a believer. I usually buy games like Madden, GTA, Gt4, etc. you know the big popular ones. This will be my first buy from a game of this type. Its simply too beutiful.

After watching this again, I think this is going to be my rebirth into gaming.

I havnt hardly played anything since last fall, I cant wait.

awesome preview! It also shows some kind of shadow mosters, could it be the prequel to ico? I hope so.

Sh!t, the more you guys mention this, the more i think
the hero's lover looks like the queen in the castle of ICO

You know what cought my attention most in this video, the music. It sounds like the music is going to be awesome in this game. Very cinematic and moving.

Man that game looks sweet, I might finally break down and get a PS2.
You should've played Ico already. That's from one huge Schafer (and Lucas adventure games in general) fan to another.

Aico? I always pronounced it Eeco. WTF?
Correct pronounciation is Eeco.

Could my theory I mentioned in a previous thread be true????

About the girl being the Queen? What a nice little surprise if true! And those shadow creatures... AMAZING!

Signaling for the horse and having him gallop towards you... WOW!

Firing arrows while standing from the mount... WOW!

The giant with the HUGE sword... WOW!

Ico made me love gaming all over again, when I was getting burnt out. Lets hope SotC will do the same... :)

It looks great and seems interesting, but if the only enemies are the 15 giant golems what are you supposed to do while you look for them? Just run around on your stallion or can you do something else in this big world? Collect something? Do some optional quests?

ya I think so too! After seeing the shadow creatures, I am convinced that this game is somehow connected to Ico.

ya know, this is not GTA on a horse...

just run around on my stallion in THIS beautiful "empty" world >>>>>
any sidequest/collect-things in past videogame history.
at least for me...

Probably a lot of puzzle solving elements. For example; your sword tells you the direction in which the colossus is but since the world is huge you must find a safe and sensible way to get there with your horse. Also, I think the game has some smaller enemies too! I saw a picture of a small/bull like colossus some time ago.

here we go, found the picture!

...or maybe you can unlock a Rockstar-like HOT COFFEE with the boy and/or horse & girl after the credits...

:)

There's going to be Ico-esque platforming to break up the battles.

I'm not expecting this to last any longer than Ico did (about 7 hours), but that's fine, it will be an amazing 7 hours.

There's already some stuff that looks simillar without any creatures involved. The black blood/smoke squirming out of colossus when you stab him for example. I think Ueda actually openly said in some recent interview that there's going to be some small thing to remind people of Ico, somewhere in the game.

I wonder which game between zelda and shadow of the colossus will be GOTY

More boring exploration than Wind Waker? Less enemies than Ico?

I'm there! Sign me up!

Honestly, tho, looks like it might make a decent rental.

People who animate 3d models in this industry should just quit their jobs. Theres no way they will ever be as good as the guys working on this game.

The amazing thing for me... what really blew me away... was how the giant colossus move. It's not some painful, canned animation. When they're trying to throw you off, it has this incredibly graceful and yet powerful swaying move that is just out of this world. The way the beasts lumber and collapse when hit in the right spot... it's just breathtaking. The horse animation was also righteous. Really, all of it was. But the beast, man, I can't believe they did that so well.

As an aside, I love how you can see all the trees shaking during a colossus battle.

I haven't quite seen anything like this. How is this possible on the PS2?

The game isn't THAT graphically impressive.

Anyway, did they change the color of the girl's hair? It was white when the game was revealed. Now she's black haired.
