Shadows Of The Damned Review Thread

That C+ translates to 58% on MetaCritic, but 70% on Gamerankings.

Some are guaranteed to hate Shadows of the Damned. It's unapologetically immature, boner-obsessed, and grotesquely violent. And yet, unlike other unapologetically immature, boner-obsessed, and grotesquely violent games of recent memory, there is no meanness of spirit to Shadows' intentions. Practically every gag in the game seems to come from a place of easygoing silliness, rather than a need for forced edginess. For a game about Hell and damnation, it's remarkably fluffy and light of spirit, to the point where you just can't help but laugh at the wanton stupidity of it all. That it sometimes stumbles in its execution is a testament to how entertaining its tale really is. Even at its worst moments, you'll be compelled to keep playing.

Unless, of course, you just really hate dick jokes.

Are you upset by this conclusion, too, GABDEG? It's from the GB review.

Playing the PS3 version for 4 hours now and it runs absolutly fine. No tearing or slowdows. Im surprised cause it runs on the Unreal Engine ^^
Same. Put in about 90mins worth on the PS3 version and I'm delighted by how it runs and looks. And my God at the music. MY GOD. Putting it down for now because I want to enjoy this one at night ;)

Anyone surprised by these 7s? I was thinking this may be a classic.
No one should be surprised that a Suda/Mikami collaboration gets a 7.

I love Suda games to death, but they usually don't get the best reviews. In fact, the reviews seem pretty glowing, considering the team.

Because it's a Grasshopper game I actually expected everything to be in the 7 range. Lots of better reviews tell that this time they actually produced a quality game.

They always produce quality games! Pox on you, Xater!

I understand, given that Killer7 did even worse. But, I don't know - this one had wider appeal than Killer7. Oh well, at least the game is finished and ready for us to play through.

They usually do, however, though I still like the game till this day - I felt Michigan was a bit weak. Also - did they develop Contact on the DS? That was quirky and interesting, but it was very average in my opinion.

I think Killer7 is their best title.
