Shigeru Miyamoto's Roundtable for E3 09

6:36 p.m.: MotionPlus inspired the new game.

6:36 p.m.: Back to Wii Sports Resort. "When we were first designing the hardware, Wii Sports was one of the titles we were working on. And we were already thinking about, after Wii Sports, what could we do?" says Miyamoto.

6:35 p.m.: Bring on Marionette, Miyamoto. I know you're working on it.

Guys, think of it this way, if they're holding it back it gives them more time to polish it and maybe add some extra content.

My thoughts exactly. They may do the most incredible stuff with it with the extra time, for all we know.

Not that I'll mind anyway, I'll be looooving NSMB Wii.

Definitely sucks if they hold it till the holidays, but if they release SMG2 in Q1 or Q2 then they could theoretically release Zelda Wii during the holiday season, so thats a win win, but it wont happen its too good to be true.

they havnt even announced zelda.

This picture rocks. Fits him perfectly.

He's already moving onto Resort... clearly rushing for the HUGE FUCKING MEGATONS AT THE END!
Well I thought this was supposed to be an hour and a half.... Maybe.....

Miyamoto, I can already weigh my cat in Wii Fit....

6:37 p.m.: "Wii Sports did a great job of getting people off the couch... but I thought we could've improved upon the ability to improve skills within the game," Miyamoto says. He cites basketball as a sport that's hard to do because it's very subtle and hard to recreate in a videogame.

If there was a Zelda Wii it would get as much press as Nintendo could give it. Hell, the Train game got a mention.

IGN should just post an update:

"ZELDA"

Then edit it 2 minutes later to something else for megaton fallout.

Don't give them ideas, please.

I'll admit, I was kinda impressed with the basketball minigame they showed off today. It looks fun. Hadn't thought of basketball as something that could be done better with M+.

Does that mean Kirby Wii could of been done for a while now and they are just holding it back :/

Oh, how they love to disreguard Kirby on consoles now. I mean, it's too risky. Better just make more Galaxy. (not that I'm complaining)

6:41 p.m.: Miyamoto is going to personally take control of a game in Wii Sports Resort. Looks like he might take a stab at some golf.

6:40 p.m.: NOA's Bill Trinen is up front again demoing a sword fighting component of Wii Sports Resort in which you travel through a landscape dueling with various Miis on your system. You have only three hearts to make it as far as you can get. "Trying to clear the 10 stages of this is really a lot of work and very challenging," says Miyamoto.

I'm imagining NSMB Wii gets an 11/2009 release, just in time for the holiday season, and SMG2 follows with an early summer 2010 release, probably 6 months after NSMB's release.

Wasn't that one of the titles for GC that was finished but held back like TP? What the hell did happen to that?

Oh man, I feel so bad for camineet. I wish they'd have gone easy on him, given that it's E3 and all. Hopefully it's not permban. Hillarious though :lol

I like the part where they said about the sword fighting your miis and to see how far you can get. Knowing nintendo they will find a way to sneak a sword fight with link in there.

What happened to him?

6:44 p.m.: Draw and fade work just like Tiger Woods. Just tilt your wrist and the club follows. He pulls back a swing and the club follows very accurately.

6:43 p.m.: The golf game looks very similar to the one in the original Wii Sports, but now, of course you have MotionPlus support.

so the only "core" nintendo title this year would be nsmb wii?

Why would it be a permaban? Do you know how much of a crushed-level fuck-up you have to be to make that happen?

I STILL BELIEVE

Why is everyone saying Zelda. It's only been like 2.5 years since we had one. Why count the time when it was revealed? Nobody counts time between games from when it was revealed, it's when it was released. I say it's still too early for another Zelda. The time between OOT and LTTP was about 7 years.
