Okay, so, this is a personal and somewhat complex web of nonsense involving a highly unstable individual I was friends and briefly FWBs with, but I can only assume there will be a never-ending clusterfuck on gaf now until the end of time, which inevitably involves you guys and gals on the mod team in some way, so I'm an open book here. The woman in question ended up being completely psychotic and held a grudge against me after a bizarre love triangle situation developed a few years ago between me, her, and another girl (the other girl I ended up in a long-term relationship with shortly thereafter). This NOLA story she apparently just put up on social media is a delusion of a deeply disturbed person who had a total psychological breakdown as a result of me and the other girl getting together, because she (phew, yeah...) became obsessively infatuated with the other girl (she's bi) on sight when the three of us met up. I wanted to just stay friends with the girl making the accusation and made it super super clear ahead of time that me and the other girl were interested in each other romantically and that could play out as such when we met up. Supposedly this was not a problem for her from accusation, but in reality she uhhh wanted me to die painfully after seeing me and the other girl interact. Plus she became infatuated with the other girl simultaneously to this (she's bi), which created the aforementioned bizarre love triangle that ended up causing her to implode and have an apparently very intense and long-lasting grudge. The whole story about how that love triangle thing played out is, frankly, nuts and scary, and involves this girl bringing us to a compound of dangerous scientology spinoff cultists on that same trip, who roofied us, attempted to recruit/scam me and attempted to abduct/rape the girl I ended up dating, in what was a fucking scary situation that resulted in me and the other girl and the rest of my friend circle never speaking to this girl from the accusation again.
I'm pretty bad at these games, but damn.
Some great games in the sale, I'd recommend RefRainrism Memories... Really fun aggressive shmup with a cool aesthetic and a great soundtrack.

I'm a not a fan of the bullet hell shooters that most people seem to like these days and prefer games similar to Raiden 2 for vertical and Gradius/Rtype for side scrolling.

Thunder Force 4 is awesome. Develop a shmup like that! Still waiting for something comparable on modern consoles/pc. Lots of bullet hells these days which I'm not a big fan of.
For a vertical shmup try out Eschatos on Steam. Its one of my recent favs.

50% off is the lowest Steam discount on record, GMG had once a deal that stacked with a coupon to 60% off.
Regardless: it's a steal, the amount of content and overall quality are incredible.

I just bought DBCS, no way I was going to let this chance to pass. Even though I was saving that money for Shantae Half-Genie Hero... which was already compromised due to Dodonpachi Resurrection coming sooner.

To put it short, it has LOADS of content. 3000 levels in Chronicles mode, traditional arcade mode which is for the first time released on PC/Consoles and an all new CS mode which is exclusive to
PC/consoles. Even if you credit feed this game, you'll be playing for dozens of hours.

any steam deals that are worth picking up? i have darius on PS4 but i'm thinking of getting the PC one since it's more conducive to shooters than playing on there.
I have all of the CAVE stuff, crimzon clover, Raiden III & IV... i go for the japanese style shooters, no western PC throwback style throwbacks.

Definitely get Mushihimesama and Deathsmiles if you don't have them already. Crimzon Clover is excellent too.
Maybe I'm alone on this, but I also love eXceed 3rd - Jade Penetrate Black Package. It has kind of a retro feel (no complicated scoring systems or character options), with a great J-metal soundtrack and some surprisingly clever and very modern boss patterns. There's some cute little girls stuff, which is normally eh. But honestly it's pretty inoffensive here, actually kind of (deliberately) funny, and if you prefer there's an option to just turn it all off. Game is only $3 during this sale, though it's pretty cheap normally too.
Protip: you need to go into the options and turn on the Cave-style option where holding down the fire button slows your ship movement speed. Gives you a lot more control, of course, making the game a lot more fun.
I bought Dariusburst back at release and unfortunately it never really hooked me. There's some neat fanservice, and theoretically it's a huge game, but the content just repeats so much it quickly got obnoxious. I don't think the design ever reaches the level of Darius Gaiden or G-Darius either. In my opinion if you're on the fence even with this sale price it wouldn't be a bad idea to wait longer. It's by no means a bad game, but I don't think it's particularly special either outside of its unique context as a new, larger budget shoot-em-up release. Too bad.
(It's not really a shmup, but finally going to pick up Android Assault Cactus in this sale!)
