Shoot the Core! - Gaf Shoot ‘em Up (aka Shooter/SHMUP) Reference Thread

PC DDPR comes with the Black Label DLC, which rules, but the arrange modes don't have accurate slowdown. The main modes (1.5 and Black Label) are accurate (or so I hear), but some people are really upset at how jacked up the speed in Ketsupachi is.

Darius on PC supports UW I believe. Might be worth it for that. I don't have a UW monitor but I kinda like playing it in Virtual Desktop with a VR headset, myself, lol.

Awesome! As cool as it is to see the Steam ports happening, I still don't think we'll see all of the 360 releases make it over, and I love having a physical collection of Cave games.

I had actually sold up all of my 360 stuff and nearly all of the games a couple of years back (including some original copies of Mushi and Espgaluda, oops) but I got the itch to get them back again, grabbed a cheap 360 for local stuff and now here I am with another box just for the JP versions. Feels good!

Thanks to the power of GAF, I finally have myself an NTSC-J 360. I've hoovered up practically all the CAVE disc releases in recent years, and it's fantastic to finally be able to play all the region-locked ones that have been sat on the shelf for so long. Case in point: Deathsmiles II was never released here (US got it on games on demand), so I'm delighted I now get the chance to play my copy.

I came to this same conclusion when I imported mine a few years back. Picking up the giant collection box was a.. hefty.. investment, but I am so glad I did. The DLC install disc alone is something I really like having around as online services have an unclear future.

e: was curious what the CSC price is looking like today. Looks like Amazon has a (singular) copy for $500.

It going to be a long road until completing the game at rank 3 :D But so it really does something. Those suicide bullets are hell! So death mode is similar to rank 9999?

Nah, death mode is basically rank 3 difficulty + suicide bullets, and you can cancel suicide bullets by catching them with your familiar so it's manageable (the also add to your counter, so it's a good idea to activate it if you want to score). Rank999 is much harder, there are a lot more bullets than rank 3, most enemies have new bullet patterns and you have suicide bullets too! It's basically the Ultra mode of Death Smiles.

The game runs at 58-59 fps max, even in the menues. There's a little bar that turns red when I play. This means the score doesn't officially count. It's a shame because this really takes away the motivation to play the game for score, even with friends. They can't even see my score in their lists. :(

My PC should be able to handle it (GTX 970, Intel Corei7 4790)

Must be a bug or some wrong setting on your PC. Try asking for help on Steam forums, there's probably someone else that had the same problem.

I peeked into Rank9999 and almost burnt my fingers! Going more casual for now. :D

...Wait, I can control my familiar?

I actually mostly solved the problem. It's a mix of changing maximum frames to 1 (in nvidia settings) and rebooting my computer right before playing CC. It's almost stable now and best of all, my score counts! Hurrayyy! :)

I'm looking for some help with purchasing Japanese 360 DLC... when I had my first print copy of Mushi Futari way back, I was able to redeem the code for ver 1.01. Thankfully, I still have access to the original Xbox account I did that on, and have downloaded that to my Japanese 360, ready to use with my current main account.

The issue I have is in regards to purchasing the ver 1.5 (Black Label) DLC. I've found that if I access the 'extras' section for the game on the 360 dashboard, the add-on is listed, and happens to be priced in my local currency (£9.99), not JPY. I'm sure it wasn't like that many years ago, but I'm guessing that's probably due to when Microsoft ditched MS points and priced everything in actual currency.

So, does this mean that I can now buy the DLC with the payment method on my non-Japanese main UK account? I can get as far as using Paypal, but before I hit the purchase button I just wanted to be certain that the DLC will actually work by buying it this way, rather than throwing a tenner down the drain if the 360 complains about regions and whatnot.

Edit: Hardcoregaming101 to the rescue!

On December 11, 2009 Cave released another piece of DLC (this time available for everyone to enjoy) for the Xbox 360 port of Mushihime-sama Futari Ver. 1.5. This DLC was for the incredibly rare "Black Label" version of Mushihime-sama Futari Ver. 1.5, which will described in its own section later. Note, that while available in all regions of the Xbox 360 Marketplace for 1200 MS points, it is under the erroneous title of Mushihime-sama Hutari Black Lavel.

The part about the MS points is a little out of date, but I guess this confirms that I can grab it... considering Mushi was a region free release, I guess it makes sense that CAVE let 1.5 be available in all regions, perhaps as a courtesy to international players. Nevertheless, if anyone here can confirm, that would be great.

I have a PAL 360 and was able to purchase the DLC with no issues with my standard account in pounds. Was quite a few years ago but cant see anything having changed since then, you should be good to go!

Looking good for PS4 Battle Garegga getting an international release.

Hope soon because it seems a good shmup, indeed.

Btw, Deathsmiles on Steam is on sale!

I played it for a while today because it fits the time of the year so well. <3 Man, even Rank2 is totally insane in later stages! I like the soundtrack, it sound so much like Castlevania..Actually this game took just the right inspiration from Castlevania – I almost clapped when I met those dancers in the ballroom. Classic stuff!

Great indie bullet-hell Operation Dracula is on sale on iOS for $0.99!
There's also a free ad-supported version called Operation Dracula Zero if you want to try it before.
It's really good, looks cool (besides the portraits and "cutscenes"), supports controllers... we should bug Crescent Moon to port it on Steam/consoles

While aesthetically pleasing and looking the part of a long lost late 90s arcade shmup, controller support is poorly implemented. Ship movement is way too fast. Seriously, you could slow it down to half speed and that might still be too fast.

Op Dracula needs some work before it's even remotely playable.

Well to be fair they do point out themselves that the game is designed around touch screen on mobile.
They would need to implement it better for a pc release but it wouldn't take much considering they wouldn't need to support TS controls at the same time.
I think that besides that and some questionable art for portraits and the like, it's one of the best indie shmups out there, looks like a long lost '90s video system /triangle service/8ing shmup!

Got to play the Darius Chronicle Arcade machine about two weeks ago with 3 of my friends. We beat the first boss but then all died lol. The thing is glorious but seriously takes getting used to.

Will have to try it again next time we head out to that game center.

been playing muchi muchi pork ver 1.01, and I have to say that the mmp/ps combo pack on xbox 360 is by far my favorite cave 360 release.

spent enough time to get the 1-all in pink sweets arrange, and now for the past two weeks I've been doing MMP hitting stage 5 with around 60-70mil. hopefully going to see the 2nd loop soon!

I wish this is what degica brought over instead of a 3rd version of dodonpachi daifukkatsu :/

Darius Burst? It is not ridiculously priced and has been on sale for all platforms. I think as low as $18?

How cheap do you want it to be?

I fell like $15.00 is what most people want this game to be. I've already put in over 100 hours into the game at full price. For me it was well worth it.

Shame the base game is still ridiculously priced!!

The campaign is ridiculously long, though. 50 hours in and I've only unlocked like 1/3 of the missions. And that's without counting the chronicles in AC mode which is so large that the progress is shared between all players in the same virtual cabinet. Granted a lot of the content is repeated (the variations keep it from feeling tedious, though.) but shooters thrive on repeat playthroughs anyways, so...

Original Darius for the First-Time as a Disc-Based Package

The first time the original Darius is released on disc for a home game console, realized thanks to the help of Hamster, who manage the Arcade Archives game download service. This is the Arcade Archives version of Darius with the cabinet instructions panel display added to create a more arcade-like atmosphere.

Interview Booklet and Super Play Blu-ray Disc

The interview booklet contains 32 pages of interviews with Darius series staff. The Blu-ray disc contains super play videos of the PlayStation 4 version of Darius, as well as the arcade versions of Darius Gaiden and G Darius.

I'll post what I Said in the other thread. Are people really excited for Darius 1 and 7 OSTs? For the low low price of 140$ + import fees/shipping/price gouging?

I love Darius as much as the next guy (I even have Darius Gaiden Saturn coming my way after losing my copy) but that sounds awfully expensive for what it is.

As a Zuntata fan I'm extremely hyped for the OSTs. Surely this is cheaper than hunting down the separate releases.

So... That's the only way to have the latest Darius on PS4 in physical form i guess ?
Does it have all DLCs at least ? If so the price isn't as big anymore.
