That wasn't so bad. It was fucked from the start on a conceptual level because "bring out a silly look-a-like of the wrestler you're feuding with" have always been lame, but the players involved did the best they could. The distance Xavier got on that double team was pretty impressive, and the fact that they beat down the old dudes is a bit more vicious than their characters typically are. Yeah, Gallows and Anderson could have continued being a footnote of the wrestling industry doing lame NWO and DX mannerisms in Japan, but now they're in WWE and making a lot more money for their families. At least their schtick these days is original. Bullet Club always struck me as Busch League and cheap.
