I don't think he's really overrated. He gets very little notice in the UK at least. Candy and Murray were much bigger.
Stop doing this to yourself. There's too much great wrestling out there that won't leave you angry that you wasted your time and or Monday by the end of the show.
Edit: is chevy Chase talked about ever? I was born in 84 and it feels like even people born 10 years earlier than me never cared about Chevy Chase.

He has largely faded in America as well, but if you grew up in the 80s the conventional wisdom seemed to be that he was some kind of comic genius,on par with Murray or the other original SNL members. Him and Steve Martin, I just don't get.

Weird Science is so creepy. They essentially brought a waifu to life. Loved the shit out of it as a kid too. Even loved the series on USA.

I think Chase was not strong on his own and needed a supporting cast to make him excel.
I definitely enjoy Candy movies above Murray and Chase in the long run. They may not be comedic hits, but they're a lot more fun and light hearted in their comedy. I just wish we got more out of the man because his track record is pretty dang good.
