How do you like the new 685's? I've been thinking about a similar audio setup. Very nice setup!

I love these 685's. B&W's tend to be a little bright for some, but i find them to have a very nice full range sound and packs nice bass. These are excellent bookshelves for the price. I had my mind on the Paradigm Studio Reference 40's, until i heard the B&W 685's. Also for the price that i got them for i can't complain :) The finish on them arent shabby either, vinyl but whatever, they look so damn real haha.

i would seriously consider these if you have been looking for some bookshelves/standmounts.
I was going to go with the floorstanding 684's, but man the 685's sounded so good, and price was much better for me :)

Thats pretty legit for a dorm room right?

Good to see the Aussies putting in a showing especially with such neat setups.

This is looking great. Although I admit your green cupboard had an air of mystery about it - wouldn't be out of place in a survival horror game especially with the mysterious materials visible through the front door.

Finally thought I would take some pics of my setup.

Nice setup you've got there. I'm especially jealous of your three consoles and polished wooden floor. I have to rip up my god-awful carpet at home and polish the floor - after living there for about 15 years you'd think I would have got around to it by now...

Awesome setups you guys. I was wondering if any of the folks in this thread who have their 360's hooked up to their PC monitors could explain to me how exactly one would go about doing that.

Snagged it last week when it was on sale for $499. Bought a simple, solid-wood stand for it at Ikea with room for multiple systems. Tomorrow I'm adding the Saturn and Dreamcast to the setup. It's not the epic, mind-numbing leap some have made HD out to be, but it's very nice indeed. I can read all of the text, even the wall of fine print that precedes Bioshock! Colors are clear! Maybe clear enough that I can beat Luxor 2 now.

Late this year, probably early next I'll get surround sound. But visually at least, I'm ready for Halo 3. :D

Congrats man. That's a nice upgrade.

You probably aren't too "wowed" by your new set because, it is a budget LCD brand so some corners had to be cut for you to buy it at $499. It's still better than that old SDTV.

Just buy the 360 vga cable accessory.

I swear to god it was a cat blanket.

my mom loves big expensive medieval furniture, but has no clue about functionality.

I can't wait till I get back to school.

I think it's very functional. I believe they used it during the Medieval Inquisition when they tortured heretics.

Nice setup though and a nice TV :)

Thanks, I wish it was mine. The only thing that belongs to me in that picture is my PS3.

I dont know how to explain this, but for some reason that room looks so cozy. With all the foliage, the tv at that angle playing MP3, the cluttered walls....It has a nostalgic feeling about it.

Holy shit I was thinking the same thing.:lol

That's because that tv is not true "full" hdtv. It's 720p on a budget brand, not the 1080p that both 360 and PS3 can output at.
I got the set for a few reasons, cost being the major driver. But with 360 games running at 720p, I thought it also made sense to have a display that ran at the same. Besides, the biggest TV my gaming room could reasonably accomodate is 36". I've seen 1080p, and thought it was only marginally better than 720p; a bit of diminishing returns, IMO, especially for the cost.

This is good enough, a nice comprimise. Most HD sets are just absurd for any normal budget.

Hahah, thanks. I didn't expect any replies at all. :)

Party at my place! ...Once the sumo beanbag comes.

So that's just plug and play then? Do I have to do anything more with my computer or anything?

some RCA cables to hook up sound to some speakers also... I'm not sure if Xbox's come with RCA splitters, but mine didnt. I had to go to Fry's and get a Y Splitter and hook up audio when i was gaming on my PC monitor.

OverHeat, what kind of camera technique did you use in taking that second picture? I have a decent digital camera, but all of my direct views come out either wretchedly blurry or underexposed.

You'll probably want to increase your shutter speed and/or ISO.

The boxes aren't working, they have very old cables and I have no idea how to attach them to the tv. Tv sound is pretty ok though

How did you know?

Let's just say I don't always spend my money wisely, love IKEA and have a huge debt with the IBG when I finish school.

Dunno how. Something about how it was setup, the lighting (Hollandse lichtval?) plus looking out of your window , and maybe the subtitles on the tv. I have the same tv but in black, wanted to get the white one but didn't find it for a good price.

Big debt here too by the way, don't worry.

Took these while doing the 1.92 update..

^there's an xbox running XBMC in the left cabinet, and the other cabinets hold controllers and older systems as well.

^ dvds, games, etc.

Changed some stuff around again. Removed most of the dvd's and games to my computer room, to messy for the living room. Going to paint the wall at the tv corner soon. Also had the pc in my living room but that was really a bad idea and cleaned up the room where it is standing now, used it only for storage really. Much better now :)

BTW It looks a *lot* more crowded on the pics than in real life.

DVD player, receiver, iPod, HD recorder, PS2, Wii, Xbox360 and component switchbox are behind the white doors.

And I know, I still have to put the TV on the wall.

My gaming setup is getting redone this month. New (amazing) speakers, new AV, new furniture.

I hope
you will say wow

We have the same surround system in our holiday house, Kef rocks.

Please excuse the poor picture quality because I have a cheap and crappy digital camera.

Another poor Dutch Student here so definitely not an amazing setup but I can live with it.
