I guess you can justify that with handhelds, sure ;-)

There's not enough traffic for a Cribs thread (we tried in 2011) but there's a need. I don't see the harm, it's the same as the non-gaming related items in the monthly pick up threads.

man, some of your setups are sharp...but i really wanna borrow like half of Chacranajxy's stuff and then go meet up at SillyEskimo's place with them & whatever Sixteen bit is conjuring

Well, haven't actually contributed in 4 years...

Took some pics for the "show us your collection" thread, so I figured I might as well just regurgitate it here, but with a couple pics of actual kit. Unfortunately, I don't have much of a setup right now, as I just finished law school and moved back home for a little bit. This was my setup in school:

I just want to say thank you and that I read the entire post!

own pretty much every "main stream" plush of Yoshi and I can say that it's one of the better Yoshi plush out there! :D Great purchase!

Curse you for making me think about and subsequently realize what you meant by a non-mainstream Yoshi plush :/

Currently have my desktop hooked up to a TV, it's a bit unsightly but it works well. Do need to spend some time making it look cleaner though. Tie some cords, etc. Moving out within the year likely to an apartment(still live with family as of now) so I'll probably grab a monitor at that point. And finally get a speaker system of some sort.

At first I kept the games I was playing under the table but as one can surmise I'm turned to simply putting everything there.
Need to get back to putting games up properly and alphabetizing.
Rest of the games go into the cabinet under the Criterions, best picture I have given it's a pain to move things around.
Have DS and GBA games in another cabinet I don't feel like rummaging through. There are more PSP games hidden by the front games.
Really looking forward to getting an apartment so I can attempt to replicate some of the more "modern" set ups you guys have.

Not really a place for gaming as it stands right now but the great room has in-ceiling speakers so no need to worry about clutter.

Basement room. Again, no gaming setup right now..

And a couple shots of the courtyard in the center of the house.

I have such a hard time trying to figure out who is still living at home and pretending it's their house and who is actually wealthy in this thread. It's like a fun little meta game I play.

What would be the point of doing that? I live with my wife and daughter.
Sometimes huge deals come along. This was one of those times.House was actually owned by a company (I won't name it though) that is in financial troubles right now. They've liquidated most of their assets so this house was cheap.

Cheap in what context? :P

House is worth 5 million. Got it for 3.65 million. It's a 4000 square foot bungalow. They left all the TVs (the one in the great room is mine though), lawn furniture, and barbeque. They inadvertently took the controllers for the crestron system when returning the modems so that is a bit of a bummer. Not going to get that replaced and set up for a while as home automation is not cheap and this house has hit the pocket book pretty hard. Couldn't pass it up though.

I dunno if an amount that exceeds the total lifetime income of likely a good majority of this board is 'cheap' but hey, everything is relative I suppose. Nice house.

Oh wow, I just checked out audiogremlin's previous setup. That upgrade

I was going to ask where the money comes from but with only 16 posts on gaf and all of them in the setup threads he clearly applies himself in real life instead of wasting time here :(

That's actually a pretty common thing -- it's the dudes who don't post much who typically come out of the woodwork and are like "check out this fucking ridiculous thing."

Oh yeah 3.65m, pocket change!

May I ask whereabouts it is out of curiosity?

I guess I shouldn't have said cheap....it was a good deal.
I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It's a neighborhood called Mount Royal. Worst thing I can see about this house right now is the yard work. The landscaping company that does the work for most of the houses in the neighborhood charges $250/week. That's pretty insane in my opinion so I'm going to do it myself. Besides...I can use that money for games. :)

I'm just curious what a mortgage payment is on a 3.5m dollar house? Or is it a situation that when you're getting into those kinds of figures you are paying pretty much in full?

I could probably do the math but I'm sure it doesn't work the way I'm thinking, extrapolating my house value out times X and blablabla.

edit: Or I could use a loan calculator online... Oy vey O_O

Hah!

That's awesome, beautiful house.

I was expecting Vancouver maybe. My parents have a sick place in Bonavista. Calgary is really expensive, and Mount Royal is probably the nicest area in the city.

Kudos on whatever oil company you work for/run. ;)

Here's my parents place and my pasty ass....and my naked son...
