I don't mean to alarm you but you have dogs on your face
I was under the impression that Pied Piper was a program meant for businesses and the engineers from the beginning. I mean, what would the general public really need (outside of a few cases) with a compression program? And even then wouldn't separate programs be made for enterprise and the public?
Isn't that not really true anymore with the ubiquity of 'the cloud'?

My understanding is that they had to pivot to consumer-facing cloud storage since you can't really sell a an algorithm and Richard was not interested making something for enterprise.

Isn't their platform like Dropbox, but due to the compression, you can transfer files much faster, using less bandwidth?

Not sure I fully understand your sentence, but yeah first thing I thought of when I saw her sweater, was that its the same one she wore or was told to wear, when bringing bad news to someone. Something about people taking bad news better if the person is unappealing or something.

S02E02 it looks like.

I noticed the same thing.

I'll never forget Erlichs delivery when he called her out on her clothes, and how he said she failed: "You look GOOD." Perfection.

Imagine your PC being connected to this cloud that compresses the hell out of your files. Now you're on a trip and you're stuck in some hotel. All of your 1080p porn will be accessible from your ipad because it's so insanely compressed on that cloud. Even with shitty internet, you can retrieve files of any size anywhere you happen to be.

That really would be beneficial to consumers and businesses all over the world.

This show has been a series of annoying self implosions to the point where I almost can't stand Richard like I hated Monk. I was fully waiting to want to throw something at my TV anticipating him fucking something up by the end of the episode. Thankfully they finally (seemingly) let him get a win. I'm sure next episode they'll be fucked by a completely avoidable problem of their own creation but for now all's well.

They can't have him fuck up tooo much. They kept failing all over season 1 and season 2, and that's what led to him getting fired as CEO. If Richard keeps fucking things up, they'd have to redo that same storyline, right? He'll probably fuck up just enough to add drama/plot, and not get fired as CEO.

Erlich is a dick Im glad he got screwed over.

He is the one responsible for loosing Big Heads money.

He was ready to say oh well too bad and walk away once the money was gone but he got rightfully screwed too since he is a partner

Right, but didn't the party only cost 1 million, and the tech blog 500K? Big Head lost the rest himself. Or did I miss something?

Erlich spend 1.5 million, while Big Head spent the other 18.5, give or take

Monica was technically wrong. It is a UX problem and they should have hired a designer for application.

Which is probably one of the more unrealistic parts of the show. No startup with VC funding would not have designers and UX people on the team at that point. On the other hand, hiding away those options behind presets is not an end of the world scenario.

I wonder if the app tracking was only a plot device for last episode. It would be pretty tragic that they forgot to remove it after the launch. People worried about being spied on could damage their reputation more than a bad UI.

This is why I'm torn on the scene, one on hand it's a bit of a fun call back on the other hand I can't belive that she doesn't remember that outfit not working for its purpose.

So now that Bachman paid off the party fees, wouldn't the DA not have an issue with that anymore, and would Bachman now have a path to suing the business manager for some kind of compensation?

didnt they say he took 70%? So 14 million?
No, they said he marked 70% for taxes when Erlich said it should only be "half that" (no idea what the actual sum would be). So half of it was supposed to disappear for tax, accountant took the other half. Jared specified it as "the 6 million dollar question".

I wish the show hadn't been deliberately vague about all that because I'm not american nor a lawyer and I will never have 20 million dollars someone can embezzle so I've never thought about it...but can the justice system really not follow the paper trail and get the money back? That's fucked up.

I bet Reviga sells her shares to Gavin, thereby giving him majority ownership of their company. The desperation Gavin shows indicates he might pay a premium in order to get his ideal platform.

Might not be such a bad thing considering the exposure and amount of funding Gavin, but the Pied Piper crew will be upset for sure.

Why would Raviga do that if they think that Pied Piper can potentially make more than that? Plus, I'm not sure the Hooli board would approve another $250 million buyout right after they bought End Frame.

'I forgot to take a shit, I'll catch up with you guys later'

'Okay'

I like moments like that. Gavin being a complete douche is great too, coding on notepads and beating Pied Piper to launch is hilarious.

Loving the Dinesh - Gilfoyle interactions a lot this season, good stuff.

I really hope they don't go down that route.

Man I wish this was a netflix show and they just dumped the whole thing at once. I hate this waiting for the next one. It is a nice surprise after a week of work and bullshit to get 30 min of this.

As the prosecutor said, they could go after the business manager but it wouldn't bring back the money. The manager was basically running a ponzi scheme, he passed all the money he embezzled to others that he had defrauded. It seems unlikely that the business manager himself has the assets necessary to pay back Bachmanity. Thus, in order to retrieve the funds they would have to go after the other victims of the business manager, which would not be successful

I've always loved the interaction between Dinesh & Gilfoyle but lately I've actually started to feel really bad for Dinesh. I just want at least one thing to go right for him on a personal/social/dating level so that he isn't always the butt of the joke every single week.

The way the girl ghosted him last week after getting a better look at his jace & how this week he struggled to find 10 friends to send his beta too just crushed me man like DAMN lol. Could totally see him making a thread on GAF about all his troubles too.

Anyways, really enjoyed this week's episode, I can't muster too much sympathy for Erlich seeing as how he's regularly an asshat & probably deserved this setback, but still the slight look of disdain on his face when Richard was like "yeah Steve & Woz did it together man, we made it!" knowing that he sold his shares in the company bummed me out. And the open beta is totally going to backfire on them as everyone else has said, the user interface is hideous. At least Richard wasn't a total fuck up this week though so that was nice for a change lol

Are we sure he hasn't already?

There is no chance of that happening. Why would Reviga sell her shares after they've launched and shown potential? She was willing to kick of an experienced CEO who was taking them in a bad direction, so she clearly sees their potential

I have a feeling his mom is going to find him a girl. He seemed pretty down when his mom called in last weeks episode.

Because Gavin offers her a very nice amount, even shares in Hooli, that negates any risk on her end

It was great when Jared pointed out to them what the audience has known for some time: They're best friends with each other. Their response was priceless as well.

I thought that scene kind of relieved some of the heartache with Dinesh. He does have a best friend, but he'll never admit it, and neither will Gilfoyle.

I mean, the real open question is how bighead will earn his next 20 million without doing anything again. It will happen!

Was it just me or did it feel like there was some subtext when Gilfoyle's girlfriend said hi to Dinesh over the video chat? Considering the "open" nature of their relationship perhaps they are setting up Dinesh sleeping with his girlfriend?

When she visited, Gilfoyle tricked Dinesh into thinking that she wanted to sleep with him when she really didn't. Dinesh advanced on her only to get embarrassed.

Are they really friends though? Honestly they just seem like coworkers who get on each other's nerves.

Another great touch to their website I've just noticed: The profiles of the hired external engineers have been completely written by themselves. You can tell with the absence of certain words in Elisabet's profile:
ELIZABET KIRSIPUU
Engineer
Tallinn, Estonia

Elizabet studied software engineering with an emphasis on systems architecture at the Kaunas University of Technology in Kaunas, Lithuania. Before this, she was prima ballerina with the Estonian National Opera for brief period of time, until hip injury she sustained during performance of Stravinsky’s Firebird. During wildfire season, she is volunteer firefighter in the Estonian Defence League’s women’s corps known as the “Naiskodukaitse”—sorry, American eyes!

And on reading the other profiles, this is even more true (and hilarious):
GROZDAN "GLEB" GEORGIEV RADIN
Engineer
Stara Zagora, Bulgaria

I am studied software at Sofia University, in Sofia. This is not girl name, this is capital of Bulgaria. Ha! I live with mother.
