Sim City is now down, the maintenance message is amazing

Forgive me if this has already come up, I' haven't seen it yet, and I've been trying to keep up on the threads, but well... you know.

Anyway quick video of EA Maxis guy talking about servers a while back. Popped up on Reddit.
Oh Jason Haber, you brilliant, handsome, lying devil you.

On the flipside, the guy has flashes of honesty,

Jason Haber said:
this is one of the greatest PC games you’ll ever be able to have
Oh you can have it alright, but he never said you could actually play it!

I will certainly not defend EA's decision to make Sim City an online only game. The impact here is being way over exaggerated. EA will get this issue with being unable to log on fixed and people will be able to play the game. Whether or not its a good game once that gets fixed is another matter.
The impact of not being able to play a game paid for? Some people take off work for a highly anticipated game. Not saying simcity is one of those games but Diablo 3 probably was.

Haha so good.

After searching the usual suspects I can't confirm your statement - there is no crack out.

I don't even think Diablo 3 is cracked for offline. I just did a search and the only thing I can find is private servers and very little of them too.

Man, I'm so fucking glad I didn't buy this. This whole thing just seems like a nightmare.

It kind of blows my mind to go to Amazon's sales charts and see Sim City sitting right at the top. I guess people just don't care, and that's exactly why companies like EA do the things they do. If people don't mind being abused, why not keep doing it?

I was so ready to buy this game. When I got home Tuesday. I went to launch origin and turns out it broke itself so I had to reinstall :(. Get to the page to buy Sim City and it fails to every add to my cart no matter what I do. I for **** and giggles try to buy the 80 dollar version of the game and sure enough I can add it to my cart. At this point I just gave up. I knew this server down would happen a lot also. I think I will hold off on this game now.

Yes and yes. It was the same guy who cracked diablo. No more details from me, but lol

Haha and people said the always online DRM would curb piracy. Didn't someone in this very thread suggest that in 20 years piracy wouldn't exist anymore because of this? Unfortunately (?) nothing stops piracy. They're quite resilient. I guess at least this means we'll still be able to play this game in 20 years.

Edit: Oh it might be fake? I see.

The only thing that came up is some shady website which just looks fake. I mean, the same website claims to have a Watch Dogs demo for download, lol. There's nothing on any major or minor day0 or similar xdcc.
Oh right, I'm not familiar with the scene. If fake I apologise.

Can you imagine paying to see a movie and then the projector screws up and you can't watch the movie? Even if it took the theater 1 hour to fix the projector, I'd still be pissed. I don't know why some people are acting like this isn't a big deal.

I just looked around, doesn't look like it was cracked. Just the ripped files or whatever from the disc/origin.

re: d3, it was emulated or some shit; I don't know how playable it was.
