SimCity a disaster for you? Take a look at Cities: Skylines (not related to CitiesXL)

Never bought something on Nuveem, is there a way to buy without an account? For some reason I cannot make the last step... next to my username and e-mail it mentions 'Validando'... No idea, why it doesn't progress.

Should I use my facebook login?

It doesn't happen that often that I'll preorder something, but this seems to hit all the right notes and with a price like this it's hard to go wrong.

I'm always amused at community reps who are terrible at their company's games, or journalists who are terrible at playing a game that they are trying to review.

They do seem to be on the ball with this. I preordered Alien: Isolation from them, and some months later they cancelled and refunded when they found out that it was region locked. I didn't have to do a thing - I wasn't even aware it was locked until that point. Obviously, I can't guarantee they'll always do this.
Yeah. When the same thing happened with Saints Row 4 just days before release, they went out of their way to get region free keys for people who preordered.

The devs say that traffic may disappear after some time in jams but on the video there are cars disappearing as they approach and cars that aren't in the jam are vanishing when they exit the roundabout. I'm not bothered about the traffic sim being perfect, in fact I'm happy that the sims can be tracked and followed rather than the random stuff SC 2013 had.

I had that problem when I created a second account for gifting, since Nuuvem won't let you buy games you already have. Tried again after a few minutes, and it worked. Don't remember if I switched browsers or not.

Must be a bug on their username/pw validating script.

Tried again on a different browser later - still didn't work. I won't need a VPN, will I? Because Hola is just giving me 404 errors for the site...

Not sure, I'm Brazilian, so I didn't really need to use VPN or anything like that. Let me try that now.

EDIT: Worked for me. Huh.

But what I don't understand is why the solution has to be so in your face? Can't they simply make the cars that were about to hit the traffic jam disappear when the player isn't looking? Or at least stop the disappearance from looking so jarring?

Eh, it really doesn't bother me, and their explanation of it sounds reasonable. As long as it models volume and congestion well enough to let me see traffic problems and address them I'm happy. Simcity 5's traffic model just pissed me off in comparison.

I hope this has great music like Sim City has

So do I, but as long as there is an option to play an MP3 directory then bad in game music isn't a deal breaker for me. Simcity 5 had outstanding music, but in the end that didn't fix the horrible gameplay.

I watched a few recent videos about the game last night, I'm genuinely excited for March 10th now. It looks utterly fantastic. I'm still waiting til the weekend after launch to decide on my purchase, and they can thank Simcity 5 and Cities XXL for that level of cautiousness, but if it turns out great then I'll be buying it that Friday night of the 13th. And playing it all damn weekend long most likely!!!!

Interview is set for this coming Wednesday.

If you've got questions you'd like answered, PM me your list. Please make sure the 3 most important questions are at the top of the list as those I will make sure to ask and if there's time, I'll grab some of the others.

Am I the only one who listens to podcasts while playing these kinds of games? (Cities in Motion, Sim City, etc.)

Also, I am so happy that they're letting you build point to point subway lines. You could do that in Cities in Motion 1 then they broke the feature in 2 for some reason, which is always fun.

regarding nuuvem, how big is the chance that the game ends up not working on our account, or the game not being English?

Probably the only time the key wont work is if its region locked to South America, if it is it'll say on the product description on the store page like in the Saints Row IV page where theres a warning in red saying region locked. Beyond that there should be no problem as Nuuvem is a legit digital retailer.

At least before Valve blocked gifting Brazillian games, every game with a region lock had a warning that it was region locked.

I'm not sure if the game will be in Portuguese, that could happen, but normally you can choose you language. A lot of people here prefer to play the games in english, myself included.

Aight, I might pick it up through them then.

Will it be aired on the next Saturday's show? Want to make sure I listen to that one.

The bird could be positioned better but in general it seems fine. Maybe the position can be changed? Not a deal breaker though.

You can now turn it off, but it would be nice if you could place it top left and have a ticker tape or something rather than something slap bang in the middle of the screen.

Hopefully it's moddable.

Dolor! I'll be damned. Didn't know you were in this thread. Also, didn't know you were a city builder fan.

Yes, we'll do the recording on Wednesday and it'll air that Saturday (the 28th), and of course it'll be available on YouTube and iTunes the following Tuesday.

Got any questions you'd like me to toss their way?

They said there are too many things on the top left and right of the screen, so the only place for it is where is it right now. It would be nice if they changed it to a rolling ticker ala Simcity 4.

is there a cities in motion (2) OT? I've been getting back in the game. had no fucking clue you could grow cities by building roads.

This is going to be on Mac too right? Because the system requirements on that site only mention Windows. It's built in Unity so if it doesn't I'll be pretty damn pissed.

Also, I have the toppest of the line MacBook Pro you can buy and a pretty fast iMac (Current model too) so it should run like a dream for me. I mean if it can't run on my quad-core i7 MBP with 8 virtual core threads, 16GB RAM and Nvidia 750M then what would it run on?

The mac requirements can be seen on the home page:

The steam page has all the system requirements for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Yep, love city-builders with a passion and can't wait for this game. Here are my favorite questions so far:

  • If I wanted to build a PC to play this game perfectly, what are the key PC components I need to invest in? Most FPS games just need a big GPU and almost any CPU. What is the biggest PC bottleneck for building enormous cities in Skylines? RAM? CPU?
  • I know this won't be in at launch, but will you eventually be able to work in a region system like in SimCity4? That way, it would look like we are managing much larger cities than our computers could actually handle.
  • Are you planning to take advantage of the new Steam Workshop features to let some of the best modders sell their items for your game directly?

I almost pulled the trigger on pre-ordering when the GMG 20% off deal was in effect but held off for reviews, never mind a lack of time.

So many people don't like Chirpy, the Twiiter-like bird thing.

I, for one, find her adorable.
I just imagine it's an homage to TT. That way it gets easier to accept.

Thought this was pretty cool by a user on Reddit,

Sydney, Australia was scaled to what Cities: Skylines will allow in terms of map sizes,
