To be fair, it was SUPPOSED to be available at 9pm PST, so you got it a few hours later. Most complaints are from us East coasters that waiting up until midnight to get our game and its 2-3am and we were still waiting.

Just looking at that picture just astounds me. It's like a hundred Skycrapers, and then forest. It's incredibly jarring and unrealistic. Where are the suburbs? Where are the sprawling factories?
It just looks like a wall.

As you've been told you are free to disregard this choice, but if you try the game you can easily see why this was necessary (for now!).
You may not understand this, but behind the hood there's an impressive simulation going on, a simulation capable of change forever how to approach this kind of game, a simulation maxis can use to build a better/bigger game in the future. Personally I don't want another 4, I already own Sim City 4, what I really want and I found in this game is a better focused simulation of a city.
Is perfect, hell no, but Sim City fans need to show some support because now they finally nailed the right direction for the series.

So right now it says "Next attempt to join: 27 minutes" Is it really going to wait that long to even attempt to do so?
People disagreeing with this do it for valid reasons. It's a direction, not necessarily the right one. Always-on DRM, (unrealistic looking) mini-cities, forced MP that also limits what is called SP in this game etc. I don't want any of this.

Really bizzare. I think I only downloaded at most 2.5 gigs yet Sim City is ready to be played. Mad crazy compression.
I think the worst part is that I only see people "online" ingame that are on the same server as meWish there was cross-server interaction, if not games, then at least see them online... sucks that regions are server-bound, splits up the community, kinda :/ We should've probably collectively as GAF decided to all go on ONE server beforehand...
We were having a problem where we were both on the Oceanic server and it still didn't recognize each other lol.
Queuing for a single player game is definitely the right direction!

But it's not a single player game. At least not in the traditional sense. D3 had these same problems, they'll get ironed out.

I asked earlier but anybody got room in their region? I won't be on till I get my hardcopy delivered but def would prefer a region with gaffers too one with randoms. Any way I can reserve a spot in someones? I'm mainly asking now because I know the die hards are the only ones up in the wee AM building cities.

With "right direction" I mean what they done with the simulation not the always on crap mode. If I want to play in a shared zone is ok, but if I want to play alone why I need to go online?
The complex simulation just seems to produce the exact same factors as past SimCity games. It doesn't even seem any more realistic, and the result imposes a number of limitations. Honestly though what kills my interest is the lack of terraforming. Building all these almost completely flat cities seems dull.

Lol, went to see if they added new servers and when I returned it reset my waiting time to 30 minutes.
Edit: It forces me to replay the tutorial on a European server. Jesus.

Yes, lets hope. At least with D3 I could download/install the game and just hammer away at the servers. I can't even get this game activated on my account.
It's not online only because of the new "multiplayer" nature of the game. And D3 continually had server issues well after launch.

As I live in Australia, this game isn't coming out here until the 7th (Europe has the same issue). Does anyone know if I will be able to download this game now if I buy a US code off amazon?

This is definitely a justified fear, if you look at the price of the DLC for The Sims "The Build Bigger Cities Pack" will cost easily 15 dollars more.
In the meantime they may put some filler between one city and others, some buildings or farm who grow over time, just to make the map more organic and realistic.

Good, but not good enough. Cities XL is depressing.
Is much better reinstall Sim City 4 with some millions of mods.
But after Sim City is really difficult go back, unless you just want to build an awesome scale model of a city, and this is why I never uninstall SimCity 4.

Again, created the region for Discovery Delta 2 people but there are some changes. Now using the Europe West 1 Server and the name of the region is Neotopia Delta, not that it matters given the invite only nature. Name is ricochetguro so shoot me a message on origin.

Everyone seems to forget about these issues after a few months or so and then the cycle begins again with the next game. It's vicious.
