Did you ever try making a second city in the region to alleviate those problems? Or play with others in the region? You know.... Kinda the way you should play the game to fully enjoy it
Sure. I mean not in the first two betas because you couldn't, but I did in the last beta. Having multiple cities available still didn't alleviate the wall I hit laying out each individual city in the first hour or two. I understand that the game wants you to build up at that point, but I constantly found myself bulldozing things just to fit the new buildings and services into the already crowded spaces. I just felt horribly claustrophobic, and I don't enjoy that feeling in a Simcity game. Plus the jarring city edges where it just goes from skyscrapers to empty grass, I know it's a small detail but it just bugs the shit out of me, lol.
In short, the gameplay direction they focused on for the new game is just not how I want to play a city building game. That's the crust of it.
I know that others are just fine with it, but I view my dollars as votes when it comes to games, and I only "vote" for games I enjoy or appreciate. And until they update the game to allow me to play it the way I would like to (if they ever do, I understand they are under no obligation to), I won't be buying it.
Unless it goes on sale for like $25 or so. I'd scoop it up in a heartbeat for that, because I did find the betas mildly entertaining. But at this point Simcity 4 is my preferred city building game.
I'm glad that alot of people are having a blast with it though. The last thing I want to do is see the franchise that I love so dearly die and go away.
