Not going to judge Adele's theme based on the teaser, but while her voice really works for a Bond theme it seems sort of lacking a tune. We'll see.

What do you mean 'I'm a Bond fan'..?!

No but seriously, even the worst Bond movies have amazing themes, it's like it's worth watching the whole movie just to get a glimpse of the title sequence. It's a blessing, like every song that gets in touch with the formula turns to gold.

Another Way to Die has a great instrumental track. Add in Alicia Keys and Jack White? Not so great. Average.

The chorus is great with Alicia Keys, but everything else (vocal-wise) isn't up to the standards those two musicians have.

Hmm this is lush, it's pretty, but it's also kind of generic. Not much melody going on at all. Classy vocals though.

Die Another Day theme is underrated because people have weird ideas about what constitutes a classic Bond theme, as if any sonic experimentation is a no-go. Goldeneye was a very tame attempt at a retro Bond sound.

I may have overrated Man With The Golden Gun, but it's fun.

yeah but at least the song fits the criteria. Sure, Tina Turner is putting on a bad Shirley Bassey impression but the song feels like a bond theme. Dark, suave, suspenseful and a little sinister.

Die Another Day - which isn't the worst bond theme IMO - is just a nightclub track. What on earth is up with the "Sigmund Freud/ANALYSE THIS!" whispers in the background?

I've been so disappointed in bond movies lately :(

Yep.

I was dismayed that we didn't get a film as quality as Casino Royale every single year. Goddamnit EON, what are you doing I WANT FIVE HUNDRED OF THEM

Anyway. Skyfall is going to pretty much secure Craig as the best bond ever for myself, even though his previous two have pretty much done that for him already.

It does, but I like Bond themes that are melodically interesting instead of just the chords from the Bond theme being played over and over again.

That's one the British seem to love for some reason though... it doesn't even rank in the top half of themes, IMHO.

A great Bond theme has to have momentum to it and go somewhere.

There are things I like about Connery, Dalton, Bronson, and Craig that makes it hard to choose who I enjoyed the most as Bond overall. Moore and Lazenby are the only two who are without and redeeming qualities, for me.

another way to die is my favorite. it's excellent and interesting. might not be the greatest fit for a bond theme though.

I thought the version used as a single sounded miles better than the one used in the title sequence.

edit - Oops I meant the You know My Name song lol

Both version have very subtle changes, but the most notable change is the chorus and how Chris Cornell sings it. I can't decide which I like better. The title sequence version seems to have a more prominent instrumental track. That could just be me, though.

I don't mind Another Way To Die as a song, especially the actual music. I'm personally on the fence as to whether or not I like the song as a Bond theme though. Can't really decide.

At least it brought us this amazing advert though.

This is what I'm saying. Another Way to Die has a great instrumental track. Jack White and Alicia Keys kind of bogged it down. I feel like Alicia Keys or Jack White solo and without trying too hard could have done a better job.

The title sequence was awesome, though. Not as awesome as Casino Royale, but I liked it a lot.

As long as we're chatting about various Bond themes, I can't be the only one who thinks that the closing credits song for Tomorrow Never Dies was WAY better than Sheryl Crow's song, and should have been used for the main title sequence if not for the lack of name recognition.

K.D. Lang - Surrender

You're not the only one - it gets repeated ad nauseum on youtube and in every Bond thread, but you're wrong. Both are great songs, but Crow's is more unique while remaining thoroughly Bond.

Agreed. I think a lot of people like Surrender, consciously or not, just because it is the alternate.

I don't think Crow's is terrible... it's still a decent song that I like. I just think she sounds like she's wailing slightly off key in parts, and certain parts of her song don't flow well together.
