Haven't listened yet. Won't til its officially released in 90 minutes.
Listening the The Best of Bond right now in anticipation.
Man (still listening to TBoB), fuck you chumps who were talking shit about Tom Jones' Thunderball. Godly.
John Berry said:"So I thought, instead of using the word 'Thunderball,' why don't we write a song called 'Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.' Everybody fell in love with it. So I recorded it. I recorded it with Dionne Warwick. We recorded it with Shirley [Bassey].
"And then the powers-that-be at United Artists in New York, literally two weeks before the movie opened, phoned up and said, 'We need that Goldfinger thing. We need that title over the radio. And "Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" isn't doing it. We need "Thunderball." ' So I wrote a theme that facilitated the word. And Don [Black] then wrote the lyric. He then called Tom Jones. ... I don't think anybody really analyzed what the hell he was singing about. And I still don't know what the song is about to this day. But we were given that problem, and we had to live with it."
It's good ... it's no Goldeneye but good.
I prefer "Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" to "Thunderball," to be honest.
How dare you! Thunderball, DAF, MWTGG are all classicsAND HE STRIKES (BA BA BA BA BA) LIKE THUNDERBALL
I swear, if Weird Al wrote it and had Tom Jones sing it, you'd all be laughing LAUGHING at it. It is so corny and is probably the weakest Bong song until The Man With the Golden Gun came out and lowered the bar even more! Or, maybe it tied with Diamonds are Forever.
Speaking of songs and Bond and stuff, the Apple/OSX/iOS writer John Gruber and his podcast The Talk Show once watched all of the Bond movies and spent about 30-60 minutes talking about each film. I clipped these segments and made an audiobook of them with the Bond songs mixed in that totals about 16 hours in length. I can upload it and post it tomorrow if anyone wants it.
The worst Bond theme, bar none, is Lulu's atrocious The Man With The Golden Gun. Fitting, as the movie is atrocious.
I prefer Shirley Bassey to everyone, so you'll get no argument from me.
It's crazy that she could have done the theme for 5 Bonds now instead of 3.

I strongly disagree -The worst Bond theme, bar none, is Lulu's atrocious The Man With The Golden Gun. Fitting, as the movie is atrocious.
As caviler Bond fan, I appreciate Royale a whole lot and QoS was a POS but I am seriously loving everything they've shown of Skyfall from Adele to Mendes.
<3I prefer Shirley Bassey to everyone
QoS is actually really good. It's not great, but it's good.

Up to "Nobody Does It Better" now. One of the best.
For the longest time, I didn't even realize that "Nobody Does it Better" was a Bond theme.
The local radio station where I grew up (in the middle of nowhere) played it a lot, and even with the phrase "the spy who loved me" embedded in the lyrics, I never made the connection.
Not until I saw the movie, that is.

I think QoS is ok. Just ok. Not good and not bad.
For perspective, how do you feel about the two Dalton movies, For Your Eyes Only, and Diamonds are Forever?

Ok, for the people who say QoS is good and great, what film would you immediately rank above it and below it? What Bond movie would you say is in similar quality to QoS?
Get the first four Connery movies STAT!CR's above it.
Die Another Day/Tomorrow Never Dies Below It.
Everything else I've seen evens out. I've only seen Dalton/Brosnan/Craig
