Ok, for the people who say QoS is good and great, what film would you immediately rank above it and below it? What Bond movie would you say is in similar quality to QoS?

That time of the thread again, eh? I'll bite. I always do.

Please don't tell me this is the popular consensus here.

I don't know if that's the popular consensus, but I agree with Solo and NotTheGuyYouKill's take on it.

It's poorly edited and the script could have used some more time in the oven, but it's a good bookend to CR. And Craig rocks it.

But... Bond has both a submarine Lotus AND crocodile in Octopussy?! My criteria for greatness is obviously different to yours.

I reckon it would be cool if Expendable made a topic about how he goes about managing his site and his approach to news and sourcing etc. He could give GAF an avenue to understanding his methods as opposed to everybody seeing a FilmStage link and immediately shitting up threads. I actually think he does a great job with that site.

I mean, the dude often does get his links up before others. And by all means, if you get the footage/info first, link to your site.

The funny thing about Die Another Day is that from what I remember it already had a decent premise with North Korea and African blood diamonds, but then the DNA shit and the ice castle and the kill sat ripped off from DAF and Christ it was bad.

Less than a half hour until the "official" version. Woot!

I'm always up for answering any questions anyone has! I get toooons of PMs regarding film stuff, so happy to answer them.

Are...are you me?

The Adele song put me to sleep by the way. She's overrated.

Chris Cornell's Elder God Voice of Honey and Rust has been unmatched so far.

No way on Earth is Quantum of Solace 'awesome tier'. I won't accept a minute breakdown of it's good and bad qualities, either, or how it compares to previous bond films. I watched it with 8 friends who all love bond, and all rate Casino Royale as the best of the lot, and we simultaneously, unanimously, unequivocally concluded it was a steaming pile of shite barely seconds out of the screen.

It just wasn't a good film, mostly for unfortunate reasons, but valid ones nonetheless.

DAD is really good for 20 minutes. And then Brosnan's beer gut comes out and it's a downward spiral from there, from Jinx to invisible cars to power gloves to glacier surfing.

Are...are you me?

Now we're two.

It's amazing how easily it slid into the realm of total nonsense.

Some of that would have been out of place in a Roger Moore Bond film.

I freaking despise Adele.

That said this song sounds amazing.

Seriously. I can't imagine what the intro will look like though with this song. I'm not too much of a Bond buff so can anyone link me to a slowish intro with a song kinda like Skyfall?

Bu--but ninjas! Volcano base! Sean Connery!

According to the producer its a lot different from the radio version but he could just be shitting us.

You Know My Name had at least 3-4 different arrangements (rock, orchestra, and the version they actually used in the movie), so it's very possible. My guess is this one probably has some more brass.

Well, I think it's horrible.

(For a start, I hope the production is better than it sounds there, seems like there's some horrible radio compression going on.)

But even so, it doesn't seem like a great song for the following reasons:

1. The lyrics don't suit her London accent. The whole chorus rhymes with 'all', which she pronounces as 'aw'. As in 'let the sky faww, when it crumbuwwws, we will stand tawww or face it awww together'. It just doesn't sound right for a Bond song, considering most of the characters (Bond included) speak in a more... 'public school' British accent.

2. Quite frankly, I don't think she sang it very well, considering her talent. It starts really well, very Adele-like (particularly her melisma on the word 'overdue') but the way she hits the highest note each time in the chorus ('tall') is awful. I guess it's supposed to sound passionate by being slightly off pitch, but it comes across as lazy and inaccurate.

3. The backing 'let the sky fall' singers sound terrible. What were they thinking? The actual sound of them is nasty (although perhaps will improve at better quality), and the rhythm they've chosen doesn't seem to compliment the lead vocal in any way.

4. You know what, it's really just the chorus that's the problem. Even ignoring the three previous points, the chorus is simply not strong enough compared to the verses. The verses are good (maybe even great), the chorus is just bland bland bland. And even after the middle-8, the return to the chorus is very anticlimactic.

[edit] oh the iTunes version is out? I shall see if there are any much-needed improvements.

Yea, I really dislike the shitting up of threads. He's giving us news, quit crying a freaking river that it happens to be his site.
