Skyward Sword review thread [Newest Reviews - Cubed3 10/10, GC: A, AusGamers: 7/10]

This might not be possible to answer (because of embargos), but it's worth a try:

Tingle, is he/it in or out?

I just gotta know!!

EU, although I ordered from a retailer that I haven't used before so I don't really know when I'll be playing it.
Well, I hope you get it day one :)
And I hope even more that you enjoy it immensely!

The boss battle mode was kinda useless in OOT 3D, but with Motion+ getting so much praise, it could be awesome in Zelda SS. An arcade game within the game :)

Also, Super Mario Sunshine is ass, I just want to confirm that as a guy who got ALL THE FUCKING BLUE COINS recently.

I physically couldn't bring myself to collecting all the blue coins.

So I pretend the game ends after 70 stars. Its much better that way.

Dropping this here since I don't want to enter the media depot:

I can tell you one of my favorite things about The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword without spoiling the game one whit, which is nice. Are you ready?

Playing the game, you start to wonder how long they’ve been prototyping some of these motions. Did they have these interactions modelled already, but lacked a controller of the necessary resolution? Even individual enemies become tiny puzzles to be sussed out, creating that squirt of “I AM CLEVER” brain juice that invariably leads to a bumping of fists.

Here’s the thing I was talking about before, the cool thing. So, Link doesn’t have a default arm position when he’s holding his sword: there isn’t one in his animation. He is holding the sword whatever way you are holding the Wiimote, which you might not realize at first. What this meant was that, walking through a dark cave, Gabriel was holding his sword out in front of him - just as a scared young man might do, but he was doing it because the controller was being held out in front, at the ready! Later, it’s a tool of expression: we like to hold the sword behind us at an angle, to give it that yojimbo flair. You will decide how you like yours, also; I thought you might like to know.

Thank you. I am so sick of hearing the 'for the Wii' statement being appended to every Wii game review. I mean, a game is either good to play, or it isn't, what system it is on is flat out immaterial
Also it suggests that somehow Wii games are inherently inferior which is just horseshit.

do you guys know the feeling of working hard the whole year, then visiting your parents for the holidays, then it being sunday, 11:00 Morning, full of snow outside, you just finished a LoZ:SS temple, your mom made pancakes and brought to your room hot chocolate so you can comfortably continue playing this masterpiece of a videogame?

anyone knows this feeling?

Incidentally, if you ignore all the blue coins but obtain all other shines you'll get a shine count of 96.

The IGNUK article is a nice hype-builder, but this stuff:

Zelda games have never really been about human relationships, and really Twilight Princess is still the only game in the series to delve deep into plot and characterisation.

...is the mark of someone who just didn't play Majora's Mask, in my eyes. But I guess I'm one of those "mavericks."

Is there a list of all the equipment in the game with all the upgrades yet? I want to know if we have different tunics/armor like LTTP.

That is AWESOME. How about calibration? Is it less intrusive than in Wii Sports Resort?

So I think I have come to the conclusion that Skyward Sword is going to be the game that wins GOTY from most websites, and all the people who play it are going to be in love with, and everyone else will just bitch about it because it's not Skyrim / Gears / MW3.

I hope so too, more for their sake than mine, if I don't get it I will make their collective lives hell (well slightly inconvenient anyway :) )

As for enjoying it, I liked TP so I think I'll be fine.

I didn't know every attack in the game takes at least a heart off. That's refreshing, and should make for a higher difficulty.

God damnit, though, calling it Ocarina meets LTTP with an epic scale... those are strong words. HHNNGGG.

I am not convinced.

I want to see a hater turned into a believer. I want that morgan webb girl to come out and say " I was so fucking wrong with nintendo, that I am really considering leaving gaming journalism "

I'd pay money to see that.

It was reported that calibration just requires pressing the down button on the d-pad, so yeah, it'll be a lot less intrusive.

don't get your hopes up.

it'll never win Game of the Year. It's a Wii game.

Oh don't worry, Morgan Webb is totally going to shit on it and I can't wait. The meltdowns are going to be incredible.

Also in no way is Webb in games journalism. She's a TV personality.

This is the best and worst thing about Nintendo, in that you hold them to this impossible standard of magical nostalgia and you're bound to be disappointed.

So, I haven't touched my Wii in about 4 years... Am I going to have to buy that extra wii motion thing to enjoy / play this or will there be 1 bundled in (I know, I should have gotten one years ago but i never play the Wii). This actually sounds awesome and I really want to play it.

What's with Morgan Webb bashing? Seems like foreshadowing of epic tears incoming. It's gonna be crazy up In here. Uncharted threads will die down and Zelda ones go up, lol.
