Infinity Nikki Review - IGN (9/10) > Stellar blade: IGN 7/10

Is GAF seriously seething at Infinity Nikki out of all games? I already thought going after Lego Horizon was kinda pathetic, but this really is a new low.

It sounds like an Atelier game. I don't know why people get triggered by a game with cute girls doing cute things.

Ya atelier games are a great comparison. My friend is big into the atelier series and i wanna get into it too because they look like extremely cozy and laid back games with pretty good stories. I also really dig the artstyle of the atelier series and the bright and colorful art pallets they use for them from what i've seen.

Why are we raging out over this? Maybe the game is actually good?

What I was thinking too. Its not like its pretending to be something it isn't or hijacking an existing franchise.

Not pointing the finger at anyone here, but I have to say I find Anti-woke social-justice types are just as irritating as those they fight against. People need to stop hiding behind a "cause" to excuse attacking anything they claim to be aligned with the opposite wing. Its fucking weak.

Not everything has to cater to your tastes. The only way that makes sense is if you always want something to complain about/fight against.

Haven't we all had our fill of this after all these years? I, for one, am so tired of it all.

Idgi, this isn't even a Western game

That review is sickening. I read the whole thing and was cringing throughout. I need a smoke... this one is difficult to believe. Pushing a mobile game hard, like this.
"mobile" game, its just a game bro, cry harder while i swipe my credit card for Genshin, ZZZ, Star Rail, infinity Nikki, and frontline without girls

bitch. lol.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Game looks super nice, very clean and pretty visuals, and they say the world is full of shit to do and find. For a f2p it sure seems good stuff.

Doesn't look like my cup of tea, way too girly, but hey, if I ever end up trooning out I might give it a go.

This game is shaping up to be a surprise hit imo. Looked very polished when it showed up at that State of Play.

Almost certainly not my thing tho so will be steering clear.

It got an 8/10 from Eurogamer too, they called it a Genshin killer
I don't even think it's a surprise hit. Three obvious gacha hits that were hitting this year: Wuthering Waves, Zenless Zone Zero, and Infinity Nikki. Infinity Nikki being a sequel to a series of games that people seem to really like. I've never played any but I plan on seeing whether it's enjoyable. For years I didn't play JRPG games that weren't PS1 JRPGs, didn't play any farming sims at all until I tried Stardew Valley, didn't play any rouguelikes/lites until Hades. Spent like a decade mostly playing shooters, console western RPGs (not much Diablo or first 2 Baldurs Gate), Starcraft, and Madden. I was missing out all those years

This year I started looking into what's happening in the gacha space and there's at least a couple more that should be at least first month hits next year. Azur Promila, Arknights: Endfield, Etheria Restart. Ananta and Neverness to Everness if they release next year

Game seems to be getting pretty decent review scores and the trailer appeared to show a high quality game. What exactly is the issue here?

I think the two I might try are Honkai Star Rail and ZZZ.

Also looking at Azur Promila, Arknights: Enfield and Etheria Restart.. Playstation has already snagged console exclusivity on 2 of them.

They really are ahead of the rest when it comes to the China market.

@GHG had a term for these simp/woke games getting a boost in scores. I can’t remember it right now. Just had some afternoon delight with the wife before she goes and picks up the kids, so my memory ain’t memorying right now.
Maybe I missed something but why Nikki is a woke game? Because it's a cute game aimed at girls?

I don’t think it’s woke. It does look like something simp would enjoy though. I guess it was my mistake to lump the two together.

But now I wonder which is worse?

Modern gaming media throwing 9 and 10 left and right like it's nothing, so these scores lost any meaning anyway. I'm not sure why even being triggered by another meaningless number.

I hate comparing reviews for all the reasons already listed. But still, is the gameplay that good? IGN gave Genshin Impact a 9 too, so maybe it is. *shrug* Does seem a bit weird.

And I don't want to yuck in anyone's yum for their gameplay taste but there's no way this score would be the same if it was dress down instead of dress up. Not a fucking chance.

Ah yes a predatory gatcha game designed to annoy you into spending money. Yes I can certainly see IGN rewarding a game that is literally built from the ground up to annoy you unless you pay money into its skinner box every other week a 9/10.

Let's not pretend gamers aren't hypocritical af about this stuff, literally the top 10 games on all platforms are filled with gaas games filled with mtx

What is the problem? She’s a woman playing a game designed for women and really likes it. Ohh the horror

Plus, these boys know fuck all about Nikki...

So many women I know had an intense phase of playing the Nikki games, and only quit because they needed to like eat or go to work and the game threatened that. They loved every hour-draining moment of it, and apparently it's got a bonkers story to wrap players in if they get caught up.

I have no issue with Infinity Nikki apart for it being a gacha and on Epic Store.

I don't even let IGN score bother me sinc e their credibility died a long time ago.

Its free to try anyway, might give it a shot.

Compiling shaders takes over 5 minutes on my phone, and when it's done the game suggests I play somewhere else lmao

Guess I should have looked at some Black Friday deals for phones...

Then Wuthering Waves is releasing on PS5 at the start of January and it seems to me that game is hitting a stride and may be on an upward curve for next year after some early on. I never got far in Genshin or Star Rail but this year tried WuWa and Zenless about a month after each came out and after those two, that sold me on Xbox consoles not turning it around this gen and probably not next either. I searched upcoming in the reddit gachagaming sub and saw all the top games people were looking forward to and how pretty much all of them announced PlayStation with fancier graphics than Genshin or Star Rail but not announcing Xbox and was sold on Xbox being a third place next gen too. They'll all end up on the PS5 for certain and probably the Switch 2 and then later date if ever Xbox and that'll limit Xbox's appeal with children to young adults hopping around apartments or living with their parents. I know a growing number of people here in the US in their 30s that play Genshin and Star Rail

I'm anti-woke myself and have long IGNored gaming media outlets, especially reviews. But I think Infinity Nikki looks like good fun with a very pretty world. While I'm apprehensive of the MTX the gameplay could be a fun for me namely the peaceful cozy vibes after all of the vidya genocide lol. This isn't a case of one or the other, sure some types may enjoy the game for some fantasies or roleplay but tastes overlap. Plus not knowing the reviewer's previous game ratings and not being bothered to check I could assume its down to personal preference.

Aren't they all owned by Ziff Davis at this point? Like with Veilguard, you're going to get an echo chamber full of know-nothings towing the corporate line.

In all fairness, it is possible that the game is actually good, but it's not.
