I rented it through Gamefly and sent it back next day. Combat is souls-like and it's incredibly mundane and slow. Sometimes the boss just stands there and doesnt attack which makes the fights last longer as you have to parry to do real damage. Everything else about it is neat. I was just under the impression it was like Silent Hill or Siren when it indeed isnt.

You can stack a damage boost by constantly body swapping. Combat becomes more interesting when you unlock more characters and upgrades, which will enable you to have more variety in your approach.

The demo was interesting! I couldn't fully grasp the combat system yet as it does it's own thing but I like it. The idea of changing bodies during combat and building a combo that way is great.

It’s not souls like at all…They had a great idea but you can tell they were lacking budget with cutscenes and animation. It was just too obvious. I’m sorry you thought it was similar to Siren or Silent Hill. I was hoping to be more like Siren. Sure isn’t. Just a bunch of mechanics we have seen before in a new form.

Combat gets extremely challenging and in depth. Its easily my top action game this year. Status effects, body swapping, counters, 8 way parry, AoEs, raising bodies and healing. I finished it on Nightmare. You don't have to wait to parry. You can constantly hop bodies to reposition and flank. You are encouraged to flank to damage the human body to disable curses and unlock items.

Its a divisive game though. Won't be for everyone.

I loved The Surge 1+2 so i'm used to the 8 way parry. But comparing the combat in this to The Surge just isnt as satisfying. Might give it another go when it drops to $10 if it gets better. It gave me psp jank game vibes.

I'm downloading the PS4 demo since I don't have access to a PS5 currently. I was looking forward to this game, huge fan of Silent Hill and also love Gravity Rush... but 60€ and no physical edition in EU removed all my hype for the game. :( Sadly a digital only game, for me, won't be purshased at more than 15€, we're still far from it.

I don't understand, shitty indy games that will sell 250 copy have physical releases but this one no ? Come on...
