Stellar Blade - PC Demo out now

Relly love it on Pro, PC and Deck.

Will prob continue on a Pro though. There are some minor changes in shadow quality and texture filtering, but nothing that life-changing tbh. And that's not because PC version is bad, it's just because Shift Up done their homework with virtually all platforms. And it's so refreshing to see on Unreal Engine, especially with Denuvo.

Hows it running on the deck?

Fun is fun but what a sadfuck one has to be to drool over nude(modded) video game characters, like there's free adult websites as well as the whole irl world to explore for that specific need. Pathetic indeed, indeed.

Avatar checks out.
Like how exactly? Is she nude modded or something, do I masturbate to it? Come the f on, you know what I mean exactly and you're probably guilty of it. But whatever good game, demo runs great on 3060 1440p dlss quality, very high, but I find combat a bit dull and limited.

I'm dropping my pants right now. You'll never look at your avatar the same way again.

The character models look good (and sometimes even hot, especially watermeloons ;P), but the lighting and ground surface look dated and flat. The game runs quite well on my RTX 4080S though, and I haven't experienced any stuttering. The responsiveness in this game at 170fps+ (4K DLSSQ + FGx2) is simply awesome. Stellar Blade is a great game, too!

Game went from nr. 9 to nr.3 in top sellers after release of the demo. Makes you think why more devs don't release a demo. Assuming they are confident in their game of course.

It's a pretty old tech game. But it is visualy quite enjoyable, and it runs like a charm (almost forgot how pleasant a game without stutter was)

Seeing people speak so fondly of Nier Automata's combat shows me how little of those type of games people have actually played. I enjoyed the game a ton, but that game's combat is incredibly shallow compared to things made before it. It's baby's first character action game basically. The combat isn't what made it special.

Also Stellar Blade isn't really a character action game. It's a decent game with sort of an identity crisis. Doesn't know if it wants to be character action or something akin to sekiro. Actually sort of reminds me more of stuff like Code Vein and Scarlet Nexus, but with more budget thrown at it.

I find it tedious to argue about combat as in the end it always comes down to the subjective feeling of the person who plays it.
I know people who say Skyrim has better combat than Dark Souls.
I think the vast majority of people who played both games will obviosuly say that Stellar Blade's combat is leagues above Nier.

They aint wrong tho. In Dark Souls you essentially attack, dodge and perhaps block. Maybe throw a fireball from time to time, however, Skyrim offers more variety to dealing with enemies. Not saying more is better specifically, but just saying nobody is right or wrong. I prefer stealth anyday over Souls combat.

In Dark Souls, we can also cast spells, use bows and arrows, crossbows, potions, etc.
And it's all more developed, combat is more refined, bosses and enemies are much better designed.

Game runs well, but the environment is straight up from Gears 3, and this is all maxed out without chromatic aberration, native FSR AA and in 1440p.

That looked so dreadful I had to download the demo to check it out.

Overall I'd say the game has a lot shimmering and aliasing in stuff like the hair.

I'd say DLSS seems to get rid of the aliasing the most.

At least the game runs really well, visually it's okay looking.

Ya know what? Fair enough. Some may just find joy in the simplicity of Nier's combat.

Doesnt FG bring more latency than its worth when you are already running the game at ~80fps?

P.S The shimmering in this game is crazy.....DLAA probably the best way to get rid of some of that shimmering.

Turned the game on, played 5 min, turned it off again....

I just cannot wait for the full version of the game.
Looks and plays stunning

Don't tell me there is an exclusive bonus nude outfit for pre-ordering ?

I can't stand these pre-order exclusives anymore.

Also wtf is "complete edition" premium edition ? Are they selling "incomplete" edition as standard ?

Like wtf.

We have to wait one year later and we still don't have a "complete" edition by default ?

Wtf wtf wtf ?

Only that DLAA option looks OK to good. Image quality isn't the game's strong suit, sadly.

Thanks for the comparison.

Sony is the publisher, be thankful that you get anything at all, and this soon.

Where do you see Premium Edition? There is only Standard and Complete on Steam.

The complete comes with the 2 paid DLC (Nier and Nikke) included.

Anyway... modders have already found some nice things in the files like a Co-op mode.

I haven't compared but I always thought it looked good anyhow. Doubling the framerate is nice for this type of game.

Just to confirm where im coming from as I know it's not really fair. I am playing at 4k with DLAA and maxed out and it's over 100fps most of the time. On a large g sync oled display it's a big jump.

Thank yee master sony.
My deepest gratitude
Plz forgive me and give me Bloodborne.
That's the spirit! 😆

But seriously, we can't take anything for granted anymore, the money they get from the PC side is peanuts compared to what they get on PS5, feels like they could cancel the whole porting strategy any time.
I too would want lower price and more content, but it is what it is. My thinking is that every port is a bonus. And good ports like this is celebration time 🥳

Is the port this good ?
Even my 4090 has been slowly accustomed to be forced to use DLSS Quality or even Balanced for 80+ fps on some modern UE5 stuttershit games.
Also usually, japanese games PC ports are extreme trash.

I could see myself dipping 70 if the port is golden. I don't play the game demos usually because i don't want to spoil myself.

Yes, it runs very well. Chances are, with a 4090 you won't even need to use DLSS for performance, and just stick to use DLAA for image quality.
Very rare stutters, but even when there are, they are very small, almost imperceptible.

this is one of the few games I didn't have to use dlss upscaling at 1080p on my ancient 3070

As a 4090 owner who has played the demo, it runs very well with DLAA at 1440P @144Hz for me.

Just seen a few posts over the interwebs calling it a character action game.

In any case - it's no Ninja Gaiden/MGR/DMC. Will happily skip unless it receives a bargain bin discount.
XCwPP6d.jpeg

Character action games, but also character games. This ridiculousness all started with FF16, which is ultima cheeks. Look how much wrought that game has brought.
I hope this fake fad dies out soon. Because nearly every game is a "character action" game now.
Please excuse me while I go play my game where I physically action my character.

It's immediately apparent that FG raises up a bit the latency which you don't want in fast paced action games, FPS or rhythm games. I went from 120-130 fps to 180-190, and it felt better at 120. And don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Frame Gen, but not in a game like this. Parry felt off. (I have a 240 hz 4k monitor)

There were also files indicating pvp and a co-op mode found while datamining the game. Not clear if these were scrapped features or upcoming content though.

The input lag latency of DLSS FG 2.0 is negligible in most games (just 1–4 ms in the best case scenario if you set everything correctly, that's a placebo territoty), while a higher framerate on a sample-and-hold display always increases the clarity of motion and the perceived smoothness.

I tried playing Stellar Blade at 1440p with DLAA at real 170 fps and I had a similar experience during combat. However, 4K DLSS Q+FG x2 offers far superior sharpness and significantly reduces shimmering. Regardless of the settings, this game runs perfectly unlike some of the latest PS5 ports.

I just finished the boss. I've been playing at 1440p with DLSS > FSR4 and it looks great.

Very fun, will definitely pick up the full game at some point.

However, CA didn't want to disable for me - it is so distractingly abhorrent. I would also like to get rid of the vignette. They really distract me.

You get a much sharper image with less shimmering with DLSSQ than with DLAA?

Im going to have to download this demo arent I.......everything im reading about it seems to be backwards of expectations?
IS DLSS borked in this or something?

If you set everything up correctly — forcing YSYNC in NVCP (instead of turning it off) and capping the framerate with RTSS (using "Reflex" framecap mode) — the DLSS FG input lag is imperceptible, even in fast-paced games. One of my favorite examples is Robocop: Rogue City, a very fast paced fps game where you need a perfect precision. Without DLSS FG I had like 90-100fps with DLAA at 1440p. My aim was OK at 90–100 fps, but I only managed like 5–7 headshots per 10 shots. However, when I turned on FGx2 to achieve 170 fps on my 170 Hz monitor (instead of 90–100 fps), my aim improved significantly and I started taking 9–10 headshots per 10 shots regularly. I think DLSS FG might be predicting mouse movement because the responsiveness felt much closer to 170 fps than 90 fps.

I played only one game (Indiana Jones the great circle) where I turned off DLSS FG becasue of increased input lag (aiming feelt wayy more heavy with DLSS FG). I think vulkan API might had something to do with that.

DLSSQ running at higher resolution (4K in my case thanks to DLDSR / downscaling) always offer sharper and cleaner image compared to DLAA at 1440p native resolution.

Looks much better in 4k. In 1440p its pretty messy, at least with taa, fsr on quality or with fsr's native aa.

Could be a driver issue maybe? :pie_thinking:
After selecting High Performance, does the display tab still show the correct resolution?
I am on driver 25.5.1, which is the latest as far as i am aware. All FSR setting display the correct 1440p resolution, yea. This is on Quality, and has this much jaggies on her hair and suit. Crazy. If FSR isn't buggest, this is a complete mess.

Running a 3070 on Linux @ 1440k, getting 110-120fps

Looks great, game play has potential. It throws a lot at you in the short time. I actually played it twice to grasp all the concepts and dial in the handling. I'm sure thing really open up the more you play.

The latest are the 25.5.2. Tough they are a minor upgrade .
Tough it might be worth installing, at least to force a reset of the shader cache.

There is also a preview of the 25.6.1 going around in the guru3d forums.
I'm using those and they are working well.

It's their way of saying: "Games have been $80 for years but you can pay $60 right now then we will sell you $1 worth of content as $20 DLC later."
