Stellar Blade - PC Demo out now

Cool demo, looks good and runs good as well, locked 60 fps.
The combat is alright though, not as snappy or impactful as I've come to expect from my character action games, same with the animations; I wouldn't say it's "janky", but they definitely aren't as smooth or polished as others, like even her forward dodge looks like it's missing animation frames and just looks goofy, like she's actually tripping instead of dodging.

But it seems like a fun time, definitely not 70/90 eur fun though, will get this on a deep sale.

Absolutely butter smooth, phew! I already have it on PS5 Pro but paused the playthrough when PC release was announced, price seems high but otherwise there is nothing holding me back here. 89.99€ hmm

Game runs well, but the environment is straight up from Gears 3, and this is all maxed out without chromatic aberration, native FSR AA and in 1440p.

It has wider areas and different biomes after that opening area, but that comes with a detriment to the pacing.

the CA in the setting is broken same with the sharpening too, there is a sharpening filter on that makes the game looks very grainy. Once the dev fix those it should looks a lot cleaner and sharper

I installed it on Bazzite Linux and runs great, except for a detail: textures are set to low and it's locked, it doesn't let me change it, anyone else with this issue so far on Windows?

Edit: For those interested, open the game with this command -> SteamDeck=0 %command%

Game still blocked in 10 countries. Russia being the 3rd biggest country for steam.

That said, I hope it blows up just to show Sony a middle finger for pointlessly region blocking in the first place.

UE4 model extraction wouldn't be an issue, the PS5 file format/encryption/etc. might be. I haven't really followed the model extraction scene for a while though.

Game runs smooth AF on a 4090 and 5800X3D, 4K+DLAA.

I used these two config options in Engine.ini to remove vignette and chromatic abberation:
[SystemSettings]
r.SceneColorFringe.Max=0
r.Tonemapper.Quality=1

Ok so far the game runs amazing but I'm finding some weird slowdowns after a bit like some kind of memory leak, it tanks performance from 65-70 to 40 fps

Sadly my old card couldn't keep up, always 100% but the 7500F cpu is at 20% usage. Runs quite well on the lowest setting. I need a GPU upgrade soon.

Game runs great on my system. No reason not to grab it day one.

Tachy is way hotter.
PS fans, Is there a way to play as Tachy or does she survive in some alternate timeline or something?

She should be the main protagonist. Hotter, cooler, better voice acting.

OK, I beat the demo and I'm not going to buy this game. Hot girls. Cool. Game is boring though.
For me it's just the price holding me back. I would want the Complete Edition and €89.99 is pushing it too far for me, especially since it would be a double dip.
Should've been included in the Days of Play sale, PlayStation is publishing it.

Performance is flawless, but just like in Wukong, there isn't any weight behind the hits when you fight. That's a big problem for me.

This looks like you upscaled from 720p or some shit......whats going on with the IQ here.
Please tell me its just an issue with your setup and the game doesnt actually look like this, cuz this is the worst graining ive seen on PC in a while......puts RE2R Interlace to shame.

Most big publishers dont list their games as available to Russia.....you know why.
Im guessing some of those countries banned the game themselves and it isnt Sonys doing.

I don't know what's up with that guy's screenshot. It does look absolutely terrible.

The game looks really good with DLSS4 Quality or DLAA. Much better than PS5 and nothing at all like what's posted above.

And on 240 - 480 hz monitors you can let this baby stretch its wings.

This felt pretty good play. I'm running it maxed out at 120 FPS, 3440 x 1440. Very nice. I bought it day 1 on PS5 but I think I'll double dip.

I mean, even with a 9800X3D and 5090, most new games aren't running 4K/DLAA/120fps maxed out. I'm impressed so far
To be fair, it's just a basic UE4 game with no RT, Lumen, Nanite, or anything really demanding, just pure raster.
Look at the shadows, they are way too sharp, look at the environment etc... i mean let's be real people didn't like the game because of the graphics :D

With FSR4 Quality mode and Chromatic aberration disabled, it does look better.
Though the level design still looks simplistic.

Agreed. The combat doesn't feel great. It feels a tad too slow or something for this type of game. I'll play it at some point tho.

The character models are nice enough I guess, but overall the game looks kind of ugly.
I just finished the demo. Runs well, as it should for these graphics.
My problem is more with the artstyle, it has this generic UE look to it and the environments don't do it favor with their low poly greyish look at the beginning at least.
I might get this on sale later as my backlog is just so insanely huge... got stuff like Methapor (GP), Red Dead 2 and other more focused singleplayer games to play first.

I wonder if some stuff is just bugged. I tried setting the rendering scale to 200% and 50%, and I can't tell the difference, it looks the same to me.

Game seems well optimized. Runs smooth. Players with different PC builds also say the game runs really well on a whole lot of setups.

Combat seems slow but the Boss Challenge gives you more skills and passives in the skill trees so combat definitely gets faster and picks up as you play and Upgrade your stuff.

I can see the reliance on Parry but it doesn't feel awful and the "Clang!" is a rewarding sound to hear.

Can't wait for June 11th.

I had no idea that Gears 3 has such amazing looking locations.

Maybe I will check the series.
What's amazing about it? Generic environment with a green filter on top.
With FSR4 Quality mode and Chromatic aberration disabled, it does look better.

Kinda does look sharper, but as you've said, the aesthetic of the environment and its detail is lauch ps4 level. Something like Killzone Shadowfall had more details going into its environment than this.

You've not played gears 3 or n some time… the art is amazing. Graphics too imo

If this is amazing, what do you call Expedition 33 then? :D
expedition 3 is not that graphically impressive aside from characters faces.
It got that 360 game look to it with the bloom.
You are mixing art with graphics

edit: don't get me wrong. Stellar blade is also not amazing technically. It's competent technically and it's got better art than graphics too.... but it's way better looking than stuff like gears 3. I am only answering that argument

the controls in the original PS5 demo weren't the same as in the final build. they took feedback from the demo and did improve some aspects of the controls.

I'm not sure what exactly changed tho

After the initial demo, I also played the PS Premium 2 hour trial, which is the actual updated version of the full game. It didn't feel much better to me.

Maybe something else is set weirdly in your setup?
I think I only added +2 to sensitivity on X and Y in that game and it felt great.
There is no input lag or delay in this game on ps5 and not on ps5 pro. It's one of more responsive games this gen
