I was 10 when it first aired. I really dug the first 4 seasons. Seasons 5-6 were weaker but still fun. I ended up falling out with the series during the later episodes that seemed to go into self parody.

I should really give those first few seasons a rewatch.

Tom Welling is fine and watchable. He is okay in the role. Micheal Rosenbaum is the definitive Lex Luthor. He is so charismatic and his fall to villainy is great. John Schneider as Jonathan Kent was also excellent. Young me had a huge crush on Kristen Kruek.

You got the email from ksite too, didn't you? Lol that's how I knew.

I really enjoyed the last two seasons. Other than maybe season 4, it can be hard to go back and watch the others.

Smallville!!! Really great show for it's time. The monster of the week format of the earlier seasons were great. The first 6 seasons were great with 7 being the weakest. It picked up again after that season though.

Not to forget all the amazing songs featured on the show. Chloe best girl.

Whoa time flies, I was just starting 8th grade and now I'm 27 years old lol.

Everyone was in love with Kristin Kreuk too lol.

The first several seasons were fantastic but it died down after season 6 or 7...

Funny when I was in school it was all about Katie Holmes. I'm 33, I was in HS when the show started though.

Theme song was so good.

I'm of the opinion the later seasons were better, budget suffered but they started to lean into the DC stuff and super heroics and Lois was a much better love interest. Earlier seasons were 90% villain of the week and telescope stalking Lana.

I hated it from the beginning. I was way too big a Superman fan to ride with the shit they came up with.

I still haven't finished the show. I still have like three episodes to watch, but just never got around to it. Maybe I will one day.

This show gives me a "when I was young we had to walk 15 miles in the snow" kind of feeling when I see how fast they reveal people's identities on The Flash and Arrow.

Somebody SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVE MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Smallville was always bad, but it was that kind of program that would introduce particular characters and you would watch to see how poorly they were done.

Booster was alright though.

The show had its ups and downs, but Lex was one of the clear highlights. One issue I had with the latter half was that they'd almost made Lex too reasonable and sympathetic. When they started to turn him into a more clear cut villain it felt ham-handed and out of character.

Justice League on a budget

My only memory of this show was that I was intrested in it before launch. I missed the first episode for some reason. Then I refused to watch the second cause I missed the first, and told myself I would catch up at some point,.

To this day I have never watched a full episode.

*twitch*

Best thing about Smallville was Thad as Aquaman, Justin Hartley's GA, and Erica Durance as Lois. And of course the Luthors

I did love that Luthor's dad was Clamp from Gremlins 2. The only episode I can remember though was the Saw ripoff.

I wanna run through the halls of my high school. I wanna scream at the top of my LUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

I was a huge fan despite the shows many problems because it was worth it for those moments where it got it right and tapped into what makes Superman such a great character.

Weakest seasons are probably 4 and 7 as far as I'm concerned.

I'm actually in the middle of a rewatch right now and I'll probably watch a couple episodes tonight and maybe the pilot as well.

I really wish they had dropped Lana after season 4 and moved on to Lori Lemaris or something until they were ready to pull the trigger on Lois. It was so aggravating constantly dealing with Lana and her horribly overwritten character when her chemistry with Clark was so awful compared to Lois who clicked with him from the very beginning.

Welling is also my favorite Clark/Superman after Reeve as far as live action goes.

While Rosenbaum is certainly the best Lex I think it's important to highlight just how amazing Schneider's Jonathan Kent was.

I know the networks always pushed Clark/Lex/Lana as the core of the show but it was really the Kent family that made the whole thing work.

I used to watched it but I dropped it round the doom day arc as they were hyping it up and I was expecting a big battle but nope Clark just pick up Doomday and pile dive him into a barn...I wasn't impressed.

It definitely got kinda rough in the latter seasons after the CW transition (Struggle Doomsday, Super Lana, WB/CW teen drama), but I appreciated it for what it was. It paved the way for their DC TV universe.

I loved all the references to the wider DCU in the later seasons. The legion episode was great. Also, Lois on this show is one of the best versions of Lois ever.

Okay, but that's Legends of Tomorrow. I expect that to look like cheesy ass shit at this point

I watched some on Netflix. Oh, boy. People used to use CW as a highwater mark for superhero stuff on TV. Flash is dumbed down due to budget restrictions and the writer's inability to write around Flash's obvious overpoweredness. Arrow became Days of our Lives and I gave up.

Isn't that the problem with all superhero media though, like in civil War, when rhodeynis falling realistically Wanda and vision could have saved him.

This show exemplifies the "it was so much better when I was younger" feeling for me. As in, this show was better when I wasn't so discerning and there wasn't much else for superheroes on tv like there is now. The real tragedy of this show was how great the production crew and the actors were, but the writing let them down so often. That and the creators' undeserved love for Lana Lang.

As much as I got to completely hate the show in the middle and all the way towards the end, honestly watching Supergirl and seeing Superman on that show made me realize
that im feeling nostalgic as hell towards Smallville.

Even making my way through Lois and Clark for the first time atm (and really enjoying it for what it was) has me weirdly longing for more Smallville.
