i give that tower change a couple weeks till they change it back no way itll last just going to partner 2 ranged ad and fuck those towers up son
 
New Conquest map looks cool though not as dramatic a change as the new Joust map. Most of the changes/adjustments seem to be in the layout though. Teleport and fog of war should make things interesting too.

I didn't really expect him after Hun Batz last week and the big art changes this and last.

EDIT: Was kind of hoping Afro-Dite would be black too considering there aren't any black chicks in the game. No big deal though.

I think not making Afro-Dite a black lady, and giving her some sassy new voice, is a missed opportunity for an awesome 600 gem skin. Definitely would've bought that (will get the 400 gem one too, but I would've gotten a black sassy LADEH one asap).

I'm kind of mad with the game right now, so much hype for the patch, and now I'm finding myself losing game after game, for a reason or another. :(
 
Chronos looks pretty damn awesome! For some reason I was expecting like a really old/fat looking dude.

There is no reduced tower range. I think.

They cancelled it, it got too much backlash when they showed it in the stream and people went crazy because you could hit the tower with a ranged character without entering their radius.
Good. I think the tower range is just fine as is.

I think the plan was then reduce it from 70 to 60feet, and they put it at 62 to avoid cheesing it.





Well, the game is considering me a super pr0* now. Because it just put me against an enemy team with Spooh, Allied, Lawbster and Chiwa (names you will know if you follow the tourneys and streamers). We lost, but we did it kind of ok, at least until the past half an hour it wasn't clear who was going to win.

I derped around a few times with He Bo, including wasting my ultimate twice when clearly there was too much distance between my enemy and myself (wtf I was doing), but even then I would say the main reason we didn't won wasn't me sucking, but a Neith whose positioning was really bad, missing key teamfights, staying in right lane when left lane was being overrun and mates needed help, etc.

Ahh, got home from a 3 week Euro trip yesterday and played a game of Smite. I picked the new monkey god who replaced Sun Wukong, and he's pretty cool! I should have read up on his abilities though, because I was getting really confused when I kept teleporting after using his 3. Lol.

He looks awesome! Kinda has a similar vibe to Vulcan. I hope the end result looks similar to this.

So, technically, you could have been not playing Smite or Tribes or whatever for months, but if you have them installed, HiRez is snooping through your running processes for blacklisted programs.

Thought you privacy/security people would want to know.

Not cool at all. I have a recollection of some other game with a similar cheat scanner, and it backfired on them when people found out.
 
Did anyone else catch the tournament at RTX? The losing team surrendered on game 3 like 10 minutes in thus losing the best of 2 out of 3 match. Kind of shitty of them considering it was on stage even if they did have some technical difficulties.
 
I didn't watch it, but that's crap. Surrendering in a tournament is just... Weak. No matter what issues you have, just play it through. That's embarrassing.

CHRONOS PATCH

New God: Chronos

PASSIVE - Wheel of Time

The wheel of time is always spinning and for Chronos, it is no different. Depending on where the wheel is when activating Accelerate, it provides a different benefit to Chronos.

Section I = +20% Magical Lifesteal
Section II = 75% Mana Refund On Abilities
Section III = +20% Magical Power
Section IV = +35% Magical Power Contribution to Basic Attacks

Time Rift

Chronos creates a rift in time, dealing 80/125/170/215/260 (+85% of your magical power) magical damage to all enemies in the area. Cost - 50/55/60/65/70 mana. Cooldown - 5s.

Accelerate

Chronos accelerates himself over time, allowing him to progressively move 10/15/20/25/30% faster for 8 seconds. While active, his attack speed is increased by 20/25/30/35/40% and he is not affected by the attacking movement speed debuff. This ability also stops the Wheel of Time. Cost - 70/75/80/85/90 mana. Cooldown - 15s.

Stop Time

Shooting forward spinning gears of time, any enemies hit by Chronos' attack are slowed to a stop, taking 30/50/70/90/110 (+40% of your magical power) magical damage on the initial hit and again when they are stunned for 1s. Cost - 65/70/75/80/85 mana. Cooldown - 16/15/14/13/12s.

Rewind

Chronos travels through time to where he was 8 seconds ago, gaining health and mana back to the values of that time. All of his cooldowns are instantly reset as well. Cost - 100 mana. Cooldown - 120/110/100/90/80s.

Legendary Skins have been added to the game. Every gold skin purchase will award a Legendary Skin that is automatically given to the player for that god when they achieve Mastery Rank 10. NOTE: If your god is already rank 10 prior to the patch then you must play one match that gives rewards to unlock the new skin.

Jungle Buffs:

The buff holding leaders in the jungle camps now drop their buffs when they are killed.
Only the team that last hit the camp leader can pick up the buff.
Each player can only have 1 jungle buff at a time. Players that already have a jungle buff will not pick up another buff when they walk over it.

Newly created Smite accounts will now be given Poseidon, Neith, Ymir, Ra and Thor as their permanently free gods. If you created a Smite account prior to the patch date, you will still own the previously provided permanently free gods (but will need to purchase any other unowned gods).
The new free god rotation is Aphrodite, Apollo, Ares, Fenrir, Isis.

Fixed a bug in which the Recorded tab on the TV menu was not displaying some information correctly.
Fixed a bug where players would see gods permanently in their stun pose.
Gods with magical damage basic attacks now gain 100% of their magical lifesteal when hitting an enemy with their basic attacks. This currently affects Zeus, Isis, Anubis, Athena and Chronos.
The death recap screen no longer shows the killer first. It now sorts by the most damage done to you in the previous 10 seconds, , showing the top 3 contributors.
“Toggle Map Overlay” (default bound to ‘M’) shows color-coded outlines on paths in the Conquest map that lead to objectives.

Teleport is no longer available in Assault mode.
Player characters will now flash an outline if they take damage from your character or if you take damage.
A number of inconsistencies related to projectile ranges have been addressed. The tower ranges in the Conquest map have been adjusted accordingly.
In Conquest, the left and right lanes have been widened slightly in the middle of the map, where previously they narrowed.
In Conquest, there is now a darker fog when looking into the jungle from outside of it.

Spectator Changes

Fixed an issue where the red team’s wards were not visible.
Fixed syncing issues for party spectating.
Fixed an issue where chat was rendering in the wrong place.

PASSIVE - The last hit bonus is given to the owner even when assisting on minion kills.

Bumba’s Mask

The movement speed buff has been removed from this item.

Demonic Grip

The 10/20/30 Physical Power has been replaced with 20/40/60 Magical Power.

Meditation

The heal has been reduced from 40% to 30% of your missing health.

Ward

Enemy wards are now detected by Towers, Phoenix and the Minotaur.
Wards are now forced visible while teleporting.

Boots of Celerity

Unique speed modifier decreased from +10/15/28% (40% out of combat) to +6/12/22% (35% out of combat)

Reinforced Greaves

Unique speed modifier decreased from +10/15/21% (33% out of combat) to +6/12/18% (26% out of combat)

All other Boots, Greaves, Shoes, and Tabi

Unique speed modifier decreased from +10/15/21% to +6/12/18%.

Fixed a bug with her passive spear being blocked by friendly minions.

Bacchus

General

Some visual adjustments have been made to his model.

Loki

Vanish

The cooldown for this ability has been reduced from 18s to 15s.
While invisible, Loki now takes 25% less damage from all sources.

Decoy

The physical power contribution of this ability has been increased from 80% to 100%.

Neith

Broken Weaves

Neith’s broken weaves no longer act as wards.

Ne Zha

General

Ne Zha’s model has undergone modest visual improvements.

Poseidon

Poseidon’s model has undergone modest visual improvements.

Xbalanque

Some FX have been updated.

Rising Jaguar

The leap portion of this ability is no longer interrupted by crowd control.

Zeus

Zeus’ basic attacks now utilize a hit progression with a 1/1/.5/.5x timing and damage scale
 
Chronos God Reveal

Looks like a lot of fun. That ult is going to have some major troll potential. Curious to see how the jungle buff change affects things.

If I am not mistaken, his ult is almost a direct ripoff of Weaver's ultimate. It is one of the finest troll ults in the game.

Chronos is fun. He can do some pretty crazy burst damage with Accelerate and Time Rift does some pretty good damage at higher levels with good range. His Ult saved me like 3 times last Arena game. It's going to take a while to get used to hitting Accelerate strategically with his clock passive though.
 
Other than Chang'e getting her icons updated (and now it looks like the genuine ones), there has been nothing new for her, or Tyr.

The only new thing we found was the possibility of Guan Yu getting his ult changed to include his horse, the Red Hare.
 
Even crazier since it warps back 8 seconds I believe AND resets the cooldowns lol. I expect some tweaking to that shit down the line.

At least, there is a windup time in the use of the Ult, I used it twice just before dying and I ended dead. It's not instantenous.

I don't think he does a lot of damage, he does less than Agni, Poseidon, He Bo or Anubis, in exchange he has more survability/possibility of reversal with the Ult.

True. His basic is pretty weak. His 1 and 2 do pretty good damage though like I said. Specifically when you stop his clock on 3 or 4 for the damage boost.

Item sellback has been rewritten to fix bugs that allowed sellback of items at full price when they had not been purchased during the last set of purchases.
Removed the 10 second rule.
Removed the constraint of only the last item. You can now sell back all items that have been purchased while at the store.
Removed English hardcoded queue names.
Fixed a bug where you couldn’t use ALT + number row keys for key binding.
Store item filters have been rearranged.
Starter Items now have their own filter.
To be considered in combat, you must now have either taken damage or dealt damage within the last 5 seconds.
The free god rotation has been changed to Apollo, Freya, Guan Yu, Odin and Sobek.

Conquest Map:

Map Changes
The side lane towers on the Gold Fury side of the map have been stationed further apart than those on the Fire Giant side lane.
Corrected an issue in the Fire Giant lair where players could hit the Fire Giant outside the range of it’s lava flow ability.
The middle Fury XP camps now have two large furies, rather than one large and two small, making them worth significantly more xp and gold.
Cooldown and Mana camps have design changes (see below).

You no longer get gold from minions that have taken damage from your tower.

Buff camps

The mana and cooldown camps have been combined and then multiplied, like a virus. The new camp provides:

Bumba's Mask
The full XP reward bonus for not getting the last hit has been removed. You still get the full gold reward bonus when not getting the last hit.

Doom Orb

You now gain 2 stacks for god kills.
On death, the item loses half its stacks.
Gem of Binding

This is a new 3rd tier item, built off of Gem of Isolation.

PASSIVE - Enemies hit by your basic attacks will move 25% slower for 2 seconds.
Girdle of Might
The ground target FX was properly changed to a 35 foot radius.instead of a 20 foot radius. The ability itself was unaffected by this change.
Heartseeker

You now gain 2 stacks for god kills.
On death, the item loses half its stacks.

Hide of the Nemean Lion
The percentage of damage reflected has been reduced from 30% to 20%.

Shield
This is a new 3 tier item with 2 top tier branches:
Runic Shield
+60 Magical Protection
+20 Physical Power
+15 HP5
PASSIVE - When you are damaged by an ability, your magical protection is increased by 30 for 8 seconds. Can only occur once every 30 seconds.
Shield of Regrowth

Shielded Teleport
This item is now usable on allied towers and wards.

The price of this consumable has been reduced from 250 to 125 gold.

Void Stone
The magical protections of this item have been reduced from 20/40/60 to 10/30/50.
The protection debuff aura has been reduced from 25 to 15.

Voidblade

Using this item gives you a heal equal to 3% of your maximum health, plus an additional 3% per charge. Charges are gained when an enemy god uses an ability within 80 feet. Max. 9 charges. Cooldown - 120s.
Tier 3 - Restoration Shard

Using this item gives the owner and his allies a +15 protections buff for 5 seconds. Cooldown - 90s.

Using this item gives the owner and his allies a +45 protections buff for 5 seconds. Also, all damage taken is reduced by 15%. Cooldown - 90s.

Using this item gives the owner and his allies a +45 protections buff for 5 seconds. Also, 10% of the damage taken is reflected back to the damaging god. Cooldown - 90s.

Gods

Athena
Fixed an issue where her basic attack emotes from anywhere on the map could be heard in mid-lane.
Isis
Fixed an issue with her passive remaining active at her origin of death.
Dispel Magic
The slow has been reduced from 35% to 20%.
Circle of Protection
The damage reduction of the ultimate has been reduced from 30% to 15%.
The cooldown of this ability has been increased from 60s to 90s.
Vulcan
Backfire
This ability now marks the first god that is hit for 4 seconds, causing the Inferno Cannon to prioritize that target and giving the turrets 10% increased damage to that target.

Nothing crazy... but thechanges in the gold gained when the tower hit the creep, that together the tower layout change, the mana/cdr change, and the several new items (shell, shard, runic shield) and items change (teleports, tiers for void stone, voidbalde and iso, stack items like doob orb not losing everything) , all together it will shake up the meta.

Yeah, I should have clarified nothing crazy as in major art changes or new content. The tweaks are definitely huge. Also I THINK the Conquest map has been changed a bit with the lanes between the opposing side towers being lengthened quite a bit.
 
Tyr not only got character art icon, but also his skill icons (tho they look like placeholders still).

Zhong Kui also has a skill named Book of Demons and one called Exorcism
, but I've kinda lost my drive to datamine details tbh. :P
 
Played last night for the first time on my new PC. Holy shit, this game actually looks awesome at max settings. I had been playing on the lowest settings this whole time, on my laptop. The domination map looks especially sexy. Dat skybox.

huge changes the fact that you can't defend at a tower and earn gold on creeps. This forces offensive play or fall behind the gold curve. Will really hurt squishy gods and force landing to be balanced tank mag it be dominated.

I know they're all the rage on the internet right now, but I don't like games that don't have a sense of responsive, direct control of my character, so the RTS roots of MOBAs put me off. Are the non strategic/management parts of the gameplay (hitting things) any more developed than other games in the genre? I'm more of an action gamer, who wants any fighting and killing of things to be enjoyable in its own right, and not just a means to an end to get points to spend.

Yes and Yes. Smite was my first MOBA.

As far as the combat — it's definitely fun in its own right. I say give it a shot. Be warned, though: Even though Smite is a comparatively "easy" MOBA, there is still quite a learning curve. Here are some resources that will help:

Got a couple games of Chang'e in yesterday. She's fun but I don't know how I feel about her yet. Her having only two real attack abilities really limits her in a fight especially when one of those abilities is her ult. At least those are both pretty good and her 1 has a pretty low cooldown. Her 2 is amazing though. Being able to dance out of ults, especially Ares's, is pretty funny and awesome. Her passive is of course super useful but I've been playing Arena mostly so it hasn't been that handy yet. I feel like finding a good build for her will be more key to her than any other god I'm familiar with..

All of the above. I was just like you. Smite is my first MOBA and RTS controls have never been my thing. You should definitely try it out.
 
Chang'e is too good, imo. She can fill any role. She may have only 2 offensive abilities; her 1 is almost as spammable as He Bo's Water Cannon, and her ult is ridiculous.

I don't know. I've seen people debate this on Reddit and the general consensus is that people aren't used to fighting her yet. The trick is to bait her 2 and then go for the kill (this happened to me once or twice even in the chaos of Arena). If you pay attention to her cooldown, any carry or mage could pretty easily burst her down in the 8 seconds it takes to get her 2 back up because she's pretty squishy. Her heal is pretty good but unless she's stacking it with multiple other gods, it won't be enough in the middle of a chase. Her ult is pretty strong but unless you have someone else helping/ganking, you won't be able to take much advantage of the stun with so few options of attack.

I'm sure she could use some tweaks though as any new god usually will. Someone mentioned having just even a little delay on her ult firing would make it more "fair" and her 2 either having a larger cooldown (especially considering cooldown reducing items could bring it as low as 6 seconds) or just negating a percentage of damage instead of complete invincibility might or might not balance her out. Personally, I think her having very few offensive options balances her but maybe not. We'll see after people have had time to get used to her.
