Any sneakerheads in DC know of a legit store to shop at for casual shoes that isn't Footlocker/Nike?

Can anyone give me a consensus of what North Americans think of Air Maxes?
I'm from the UK and while there are some Jordan wearers (especially in the last 10 years or so due to the internet etc) but our main Nike shoes people love here are Air Maxes! Kids, older people, wheatver, Air Maxes have cemented their selves as a staples of British culture now.
Just wondering how North Americans see Air Maxes? Are they still fairly popular?

I'm just not a fan of the 95. It isn't bad, I just prefer the AM1 or AM90.

Just grabbed AJ1 UNCs off ebay but too afraid to wear them (when they arrive) for fear of wrecking them (I'm terrible at keeping footwear clean). 1st world problems...
AM90s are pretty comfy, must say. Took me a good while to find a colorway I liked, and the UK prices are (more?) extortion, but glad to have a pair now.

I actually think 1's (like Chucks) look awesome when they look beat/worn in. Personal preference though.

They are still rather popular around my city. I have a personal soft spot for them as well (the 90's are on of my fav shoes to wear).
I want to cop one of the air max but not sure which one
Also with the holiday season coming up, I may have to forgo my sneaker needs but I really don't want to pay reseller's prices if they are sold out. The dilemma.

Got both the AF1 and AM90s Wheat/Flax. AM90s I don't think are in high demand but the AF1 seem to be. Anyway, pretty hype for them both!

Honestly besides the Supremes, DBs and UNC 1s what else has sold out recently (forgot about the CP3 13s, Laney 13s, etc).
I want those but i'm not even going to bother and try. My raffle record sucks and I'm not even going to entertain the idea of resellers

The Nike logo on the back says it all. Resellers and hypebeast will make it too difficult to cop a pair

Honestly, social media has made the game worse because these cats on YouTube reviewing "early release" pairs and also hot linking where they got them. Matter of fact, there's literally hundreds of people on Instagram selling FSR for about retail.
Now the quality is unknown to me personally but if these popular YouTubers are saying the quality is about the same (which I believe) then it just becomes a matter of what you consider legit or not.
Now for tying this into the 6s, I would want to go for an official seller but I don't mind missing out and hitting up ol buddy on the gram for a pair. PayPal only tho. I don't do western union lol.
P.S. No way in hell in buying resell either unless the price is fair. 250$ max.

Def not as good as an SBB/Chicagos, but I read that they're on par with the Laser 1's. The ankle collar is def less puffy than the Breds/Royals/SBB's.

Successfully copped IRL at finishline. However, one of the employees, who was kinda cute btw, tried to side hustle me by saying give her 200$ to secure my pair. Baby, you cute but not that cute. Them shoes better come with something extra. Lol.
Ended up getting the last 8.5 she said they had anyway by being 5th in line.

Could possibly be that they over produced. Either way, that's good for Jordan brand. I would much rather have the option to still buy the damn shoe in stores or online then to have to go through resellers. Maybe they don't sell as much as they want but it's not like they're breaking the bank to produce them.
