Sneakers |OT| Hypebeasts We Know About Ya

Anyone picking up the YOTH Dunks this weekend? My local skate shops are getting them in, so I'll be grabbing a pair.

nik_hero_1-21-14.jpg

Quoted for new page, these look great. Hope to get em online.

I'm picking up the Petoskeys the same day I pick up the YOTH. The shop has both. If you guys can't cop online this Saturday, let me know and I can scoop you up a pair if you've got PayPal (retail + tax + shipping).

It could be the photo but the pink doesn't look as vibrant as the '08 retro.

I regret not quadrupling up now when these were just sitting at stores for $50.

I picked up a pair at Finishline.com for $50 in 2009...I guess they just didn't move much back then, went to clearance and sat for a while. Granted, Agassi was still with adidas at the time...now that he's back with Nike the hype's a little bit bigger this time.

Nice...very nice...but I (and I'm sure many others) have next to no chance at all finding these at retail.[/IMG]

This release REALLY irritates me.

The last thing I want is for Nike SB to go the way of the Jordans and start retroing the classics.

I know I'm in the minority about this, but re-releasing a shoe every couple of years really ruins the appeal of actually owning a pair of shoes you know won't be around for long.

I understand that this is an opportunity for people to get a pair of highs that couldn't get the lows, but I'd rather Diamond and Nike not release the same exact shoe in a high.

Come out with a new colorway at least...

While I understand that we all want awesome new colorways from Nike, it's really mind boggling to hear that a shoe loses its appeal if it's mass produced or re-released. I really don't get it.

It should be about the love of the shoes man. If a colorway is sick, you rock it. And if nike is giving us another opportunity own one of the sickest colorways available for the dunk sb, then we should thank em. The shoe game should not be about throwing money out the window to own the most exclusive sneaker, it should be about appreciating them, regardless of how exclusive or common they are.

Just picked up those Birch/Hyper Red SB Hi's from CCS. I'll try and post pics later. They were cheap, but they look much better in pictures. Those Tiffany Hi's though. Two days after my birthday. Gotta have them.

Pretty much co-sign everything here. Shoes like Breds & Royals should have White AF1-like quantity runs because they're such a classic shoe. If this actually DID happen, it wouldn't necessarily ruin my feelings on the pairs I already own.

I'm liking those Petoskeys. Retail $120 on those as well?

Also Nike could release a billion pairs of whatever shoe every few years and I'd be totally fine with that. Right now on the more hyped up releases the average sneakerhead is fighting a losing battle against bots, has a small chance at getting lucky on a raffle, and then has to hope that eastbay or finishline actually work properly. If everything fails, your only option is paying the reseller prices for already crazy expensive shoes.

I understand there is always going to be super limited shoes. But Nike limits just about everything these days. As mentioned above, at the very least classics like Royal 1s should be released in mass amounts. Leave the super limited stuff for the crazy collabs or certain brand new colorways.

Yeah, $120 on the Petoskeys, also NDC will have the YOTH. Check your local skate shops as well, there are two in my area who will have the YOTH as well as the Tiffany Dunks. The Petoskeys are still sitting as well. Gotta love the local boutique skate shops :)

Btw, found some steals at Zebra Club (Bellevue, WA) just now. 65% off AM95s, AM90s, AM1s and Rosheruns.

Not really feeling the lining on the Baron 1s, they remind me too much of the Steel 10s and I didn't like that shoe at all =/

Also, Columbia 11s are rumored to drop this year. Then again, they say that every year lol. I'm just hoping for the Lightning 4s to drop this year. I just hope that if they do release, it's not gonna be one of those QS BS.

I get ya, and I do agree - I feel like shoes shoes have larger runs when they're initially released so more people can get their hands on them without paying people who camp with the sole intention of reselling. I love shoes and the design process that goes into them, so for me it's not about owning "rare" shoes, but about owning shoes that I like because of their profile and/or colorway.

In fact, I've been happy to see nikestore releasing quickstrikes online - just goes to show they're willing to make rare shoes available on a wider scale.

I'd be fine with Nike releasing a TON of Tiffany highs, but I don't know that I'll ever agree with retroing shoes as a concept. I It's just the thought of watering down the market that I don't agree with, but this also could be that I'm a little salty that my couple pairs of Tiffany lows won't be as rare to see because people will be wearing highs. I bought one pair of lows the day they were released for $130, a second pair for $190 a few weeks later, and then a third pair a few months after that for around $250.

I bought multiple pairs because I liked the colorway and wanted to have a few for when they eventually wore down, not because I thought I could get ~$1,000 one day for them. So it's nice for someone like me who said "I like the way those shoes look! I want to get a couple!!" when a few years later demand is high and I know that I'm sitting on a few not because I plan to resell, but because I genuinely enjoy the shoe and plan to wear them for a good while.

There's also the collecting part. I'm sure everyone in here has bought a pair of shoes because it's a hobby as much as they like wearing them.

Regardless, I'm fine with the highs releasing and I'm happy for those who couldn't get lows who'll finally have the chance to get the colorway, I just hope they don't start retroing more because most of the time Nike retros don't have the same quality as the originals, and that's also frustrating.

Thanks for listening.

Got caught up in hype...which makes me sad, but whatever.

Got my Air Tech Challenge 2 "Hot Lava" for retail+shipping. Now to lie back in the weeds, copping stuff on the low until those Barons come out.

As for the debate on exclusivity vs. re-releases - sneakers are probably the only thing ever that gets popular, and then the mfgr deliberately doesn't make enough to satisfy demand. The whole rise of reselling, bots and other crap like that is because these companies know we're accepting of limited edition/quickstrike/etc. I get that some releases should be LEs/QSes...but things that were general releases should always be general releases. Things that have become ubiquitous/hugely popular over time? Those should be GRs too. Why should people have to get stabbed, employ bots, risk buying fakes above retail for some damn Concord 11s? That shoe should always be available to buy. Jordan 1s? I get if the Royals have to be limited, but why the black and red? That is like THE signature shoe of all time! No reason why people shouldn't be able to buy that shoe whenever - there's always enough demand to justify making it.

I get the appeal of collecting shoes - not just from a nostalgic perspective, but from the perspective of being able to wear stuff other people aren't wearing, or having exclusive/limited stuff. There's got to be a way to preserve that without limiting the ability for people who just want to have cool shoes to get cool shoes and not have to "settle" for other models or brands.

What happened to adidas originals - Country 2 ?, I couldn't find them anywhere, they still were sold in official stores about 3 years ago.

I emailed adidas and asked them if those shoes were out of production, no response.

I'm about to prophesize. I'm going to strike out on the Kobe 8 Preludes online.

I'm probably one of the biggest Kobe 8 fans but it's impossible to cop the preludes online with the "competition." It's like a Mr Universe contest.

After striking out, I'll check out the LeBron XI graffiti in store to see if I like. Going to skip the Jordan's today (just like I did the Bobcats).

These are original pics from the seller. But I am so happy, this will be mine this week...

I've been lusting for these since I first laid eyes on them in 2006. I met the famous sneakerhead RetroKid (who is now a good friend of mine) at E3 2006 and he was rocking his pair of PlayStation Air Force 1s.

I worked out a deal with the seller and now I finally have an original run promo pair. I am also finalizing a deal on the second run pair (all patent leather). I am overjoyed and can finally be at peace.

The Air Jordan XI Columbias are my favorite shoe of all time, but these have to be my most sought after. I am going to rock these right away!

Those are nice! I'd wear those and I don't usually wear any kind of gaming related clothing (have a couple of MGS Uniqlo shirts and Bape x Street Fighter shirts from TGS)

The prophecy came to fruition. The Kobe 8 Prelude sold out to resellers, bot users and incredibly lucky.

Did pick up the Lebron XI Graffiti on the low (say no to full price). I also went back on my word and copped the infrared grays. They look great in person. Also got a pair for my daughter.

Congrats on everyone's pickups.

2 pairs of PS AF1's!? Cue the Jim Ross call from Hell In a Cell '98.

I'd like to see the Grafitti Brons in person, but they really set the bar high with the KP colorway. Nothing else really comes close....unless I get a Swingman colorway.

hoping someone could help me here

I'm trying to find these http://www.kicksonfire.com/2014/01/15/nike-sb-dunk-low-white-ice/ but I'm not really a sneaker head so I don't know where i could probably get them

Premier says they'll get them back in stock by or on the 25th, but I'm just wondering if they're available somewhere else

Are you still looking for the all white dunks?
