Are the other retailers going to be selling in stores on the 29th? I might have to get to a location early morning and wait for doors to open at this point.

Yep but at this point its the best chance anyone who missed out is going to have. Since they didn't do reserves they should in theory have the highest overall stock for launch day.
Maybe Wal-Mart.

They don't want people to blast them on social media and give them bad press. If you want one come to the store and get it when it's released.
And those five people were outside since 5 p.m. the night before.
They also said they'd have significantly more stock than NES Classics.
And so far, it's been far worse.
They'll probably ship like 1 unit to stores outside preorders.
That's how we olds did it back in the day.

After today the quantities don't inspire confidence.
And losing out money because their site has been down for hours. I bet GS isn't too happy about this mess.

So that's why Target.com let me put them in my cart but constantly got an "error" on checkout.
I feel somewhat violated getting one of those $150 thinkgeek bundles (especially since learning that they're a Gamestop shell company), but what could I do. I've lost a ton of sleep and productivity over the last several weeks keeping an eye out for these fucking things, and at this point the surcharge is almost worth the peace of mind it affords.
I seriously hope more of these go up, but at the same time, I worry because we didn't really see more pre-orders take place in the UK and the like. And as absolutely shitty and underhanded as this pre-release has been, Nintendo may have technically lived up to their "increased stock" claims because more retailers were in play this time compared to last year's NES Classic debacle. Ugh. I feel like I need a shower.

Initial demand is way higher, but that's because no one trusts Nintendo.

The problem with Shao Kahn is not that he got multiple orders but the way he showed it off and how it seemed like he was throwing it in people's faces. IMO, and if he didn't intend to, it made him seem like he was purposely being an asshole and laughing at people. Like, why do that unless you specifically wanted to laugh at and make people feel bad?
Personally, I already got one at GameStop but I feel for people that didn't. I remember the NES bullshit last year.

On OS X, it was View -> Developer -> JavaScript Console, and then you just paste the auto-clicking code into the console box and hit enter.

What were the quantities on offer today? Do we know?
With the bot/scalper situation as it is, we have no idea. The amount of time it was available before it went OOS means little to nothing.

This is goddam insanity. So much lost productivity today, as I furiously reloaded page after page.... just to end up with nothing.
I wish I could quit Nintendo, I'm so tired of their customer abuse. But like a starved dog, I'll continue sinking thousands of dollars into the company over my lifetime. It's such a lopsided relationship... Nintendo will keep doing us dirty year in and year out, and we'll keep rewarding them with obscene amounts of cash regardless because we're addicted to what they keep pushing.
