I was in the mood to dust off my SNES Classic and play it for the first time in a while, but my setup changed and the cord isn't long enough, and I can't really move the console itself closer at the moment, so a wireless controller is the best solution for my at the moment. But the highest rated wireless controllers are the 8Bitdo ones and they're out of print and go for like $200+ on eBay. No chance I pay that price. The other ones have spotty reviews and say they lose signal and such.

Any recommendations? Best I've heard so far is the Nintendo licensed Switch SNES wireless controller works for it if you use it with the 8Bitdo adapter. But apparently you have to update the software or something and since I have neither, no idea what that means or how that process works. And that solution will run me like $50 or so, I was hoping for a cheaper option that's reliable.

Any recommendations welcome.

Does it work with the SNES Classic? The connector doesn't look like one that is compatible. Those look like ones for the original SNES console, not the Classic.

no matter what, unless you get an official one, you'll need an adapter. because I don't know any brand that makes Wii Remote expansion port compatible retro controllers.

I haven't used that wireless adapter there as I got a snes classic to usb adapter when it launched and use the 8bitdo one. But I have used that exact controller with it yes.


But really if you are worried just look on eBay or aliexpress

I got a fully built lava nes rgb console on aliexpress for $99.
It's a gamble but you can get good stuff off of there sometimes.

It's the connector for devices that plug into the port on the bottom of the Wii Remote. The Wii Nunchuk and the Wii Classic Controller utilize the same type of connector.

yes, and the Classic Controller is afaik compatible with the SNES mini
