Their items are always a shit show and retailers put up preorders at stupid times so their websites don't get fucked during business hours. They even put amiibos up at like 3am for the bots, scalpers, and desperate mobs.
This is going to be fucked the same way the NES classic was, even if Nintendo makes more. I already know I won't find one, I don't even care really. It's just plastic shit, so why get mad. I'll spend my money on other things if I can't get one.
I know, just don't have confidence I'll get one through them.

If it helps any, I saw the Wario tweet like 20 minutes after they went live on BB and they were already gone.
I then wasted the next few hours refreshing and coming up empty handed, at work now feeling like a zombie. I'd trade that for a good night's rest any day.

And the odds of them cancelling the orders of those who ordered dozens is very high too.

It would be less infuriating if they showed they had any interest in putting these titles out on switch but now it seems our ability to play these classic games will be tied to these ultra limited mini boxes
And those went out just as fast. Most will miss out again. :/

Yes, it starts at the top, manufacturer needs to be producing enough units to meet a larger percent of the demand. These retailers have to drop them in the middle of the night or else they will likely suffer a significant loss in revenue from other shoppers being unable to access the site to make purchases due to the stupid amount of traffic generated when these things go live.
Fuck! I was checking into a damn hotel when I got the best buy alert and it wouldn't let me out the order through. The whole event was such a nightmare because the guy kept taking while I was half paying attention half trying to order. Then I end up getting a key to a room with someone else in it! Of course after that ordeal was resolved I slept through the Amazon stock.
I have the item forever in my best buy cart now.

From what I've seen if Best buy stopped taking pre orders after 20 minutes theres a good chance those orders will go through same as Amazon. If they open up pre-orders again those will get cancelled. We got a good chance to snag a pre-order from target, Walmart, or GameStop after that Nintendo only promised enough stock through December unless they decided to extend it this is going to be a tough four months.

That's the issue I was running into as well, seemed to just be the norm last night once the thing initially sold out. It was in my cart for ages but since it wasn't available for shipping or store pick up, the order wouldn't go through when trying to check out.

Tbh, if I was in youse guys position, I would probably just decide to scalp one. I know it's not right and shouldn't be necessary, but the reality is if given the choice between losing sleep or paying an extra $100 - 200, be an easy choice for me.
Those will probably go on sale and sell out during my 30 minute commute to work.

I said it before with the NES Classic, and I'll say it again here. These things should not be limited time items. The Atari Flashbacks, Colecovision, and Genesis plug'n play consoles have a permanent place on the shelf at Target and Toys R Us and continue to sell. It doesn't make any sense that Nintendo only manufactures enough of these to satisfy a very, very small percentage of the potential demand. They're leaving tons of potential money on the table and they're only pissing consumers off in the process.

So to recap, the SNES Classic is announced. The rest of the world gets a chance to pre-order immediately, while the rest of us in the States open up a half dozen different vendor sites and F5 them every 30 seconds for the better part of 48 hours. No word from Nintendo.
Several weeks pass with no new information, including whether US pre-orders will even be a thing. And then a stealth release on Wal-Mart occurs late one night. Several folks get in their pre-orders and all seems well. A few cancellations occur, but there's reasons to suspect these are related to billing issues. Five full days pass, and then Wal-Mart unceremoniously cancels everyone's order. Tough luck, fucko!
Another month passes. Pre-orders are promised to take place, but there's no word on when or how many units are available. Just some unspecified window of time "later." Later turns out to be in the early morning hours of a random Tuesday, where a good portion of the eastern US is still asleep, blissfully unaware that they're being fucked yet again.
Well then. When you lay it all out like that, it almost seems malicious.

Yes there is. Start taking preorders like 3 months in advance so you have some solid numbers with work with. Give people A MINIMUM of a weeks notice that at 'such and such a time', preorders are going live on participating retailer sites. Give people a reasonable chance to grab one and not have to rely on Wario64 tweets or having to inject expresso direct into their bloodstream in order to be awake at just the* right* crazy ass hour. Allow people to pre-purchase direct from Nintendo so they'll know exactly the number to produce with a bit extra buffer for store shelves, maybe something like a minimum non-refundable deposit so that people aren't ordering frivolously.
This isn't going to end well. Look at the Switch, their flagship product. 4 months later and it's still hit or miss finding one in store shelves or grabbing one off a retailer site. We already know that the SNES mini is going to be a limited time product, one day Nintendo will just wake up and say 'eh fuck it, tired of making money on this shit'. So every time a wave of systems comes out, you're going to be competing with everyone else, genuine interested parties and scalpers alike, from now until January.....then they'll pull the plug. And their only reaction will be something along the lines of 'please understand'.
I'll try and grab one from target or walmart/gamestop, but I'm keeping my expectations in check. There's probably like 10 million people sitting there with exact same agenda. Soooo....good luck to all.

They let you sign up for an Initial Pre-Order.
1. You sign up to show your interested in preordering:
---If you want multiples, you state what quantity (3 lets say) and the system notes that.
2. Some time passes and a set date when a response to your inquiry will arrive is announced:
---So Initial PreOrder on July 1st sent to Amazon, Amazon emails you a week later telling you August 1st will be your preorder date. August 1st arrives, and you get an email asking you to confirm your order for 1 of your 3 items. You confirm by clicking a link, and an order is created for 1 unit. (We'll get to the other two units in a moment).
3. You've ordered 1 of 3 items and you wait 24 hours to see if all of the other preorders for 1 unit per person have been filled at which point you'd get an opportunity to order your 2nd unit. Any other people that wanted a second one would have a second email sent to them on day 2 giving them 24 hours to secure their second unit. After that day is over Day 3 begins for anyone with need for their 3rd unit and so on until all units are distributed evenly and fairly to those who have expressed their Initial Interest to preorder a popular item.
4. Everyone that wants multiples are at the mercy of the majority that want 1 and if Nintendo produces enough, then every body that wants one ends up with 1 and scalpers end up with perhaps only 1, 2, or 3.
5. Time stamps to the millisecond are used to establish an accurate sequence of who ordered first.
6. If done early enough, than Nintendo can actually learn exactly how many unique 1-item users that they are creating product for, and can better produce more accurate quantities for the next item they create that is potentially popular due to rarity.
7. Happy Customers all around, but perhaps grouchy resellers.

Typical bundle fair. There are a LOT of them with different kinds of stuff from different games. Some sound really cool, and others are obviously designed to offload some collectors junk. Prices vary from $119 all the way up to $999. The huge bundle is going to literally be some person's entire Christmas, and has way more than just the SNES Classic with worthless toys; other big stuff in there.
