ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A giant snowman named Snowzilla has mysteriously appeared again this year -- despite the city's cease-and-desist order.

Someone again built the giant snowman in Billy Powers' front yard in an east Anchorage neighborhood. Snowzilla reappeared before dawn Tuesday.

Powers is not taking credit. When questioned Tuesday afternoon, he insisted Snowzilla just somehow happened, again.

For the last three years, Snowzilla -- to the delight of some and the chagrin of others -- has been a very large feature in Powers' yard. In 2005, Snowzilla rose 16 feet. He had a corncob pipe and a carrot nose and two eyes made out of beer bottles.

This year, Snowzilla is estimated to be 25 feet tall.
He's wearing a black stovepipe hat and scarf.

"Have you seen him?" Powers asked when reached by telephone at his home, the sound of excited children in the background. "He's handsome."

Snowzilla has consistently risen outside Powers' modest home. His children -- he is the father of seven -- collected snow from neighbors' yards to make the snowman big enough. Each year, Snowzilla got a bit bigger.

Amazing they can't catch someone building something like this for years on end.

Dammit! If we only elected Sarah Palin, this would have never been allowed to happen! Think of the goddamn children!

"I'm callin' it magic. Look at da big hat, the silk hat. There's magic in dat hat"

:lol :lol :lol

This town is really dumb!

What I would do instead of this BS, is taking advantage of it. Make it a Town Council event to create the bigger snowzilla possible. Build it somewhere it doesn't affect traffic and charge for the opportunity to take pics with him!

Charge taxes too, voila, more money on the coffers, problem solved and the council don't look like douchebags

why the hell do they care if a snowman is built?

cease and desist? is it infringing on a copyright?

I'm confused. The article says the snowman was magically built again and they don't know how. But at the end, it says his kids were the ones who built it.

I'm kinda sleepy, so maybe I'm missing out on something.

I'm reading between the lines, but I think the kids made the giant pile of snow they showed in the video, from which Snowzilla arose. It sounds like the giant pile of snow is not outlawed, just Snowzilla himself. :lol
