So, after the Redfall news. Is starfield most definitely only 30fps at this point?

it's my guess that redfall is 30fps because it's a multiplayer title, and they were unable to get 60fps working on both the series X and series S. starfield will not have this problem as it's single player only. I expect it to have the usual quality mode or performance mode on the series X, and probably some lesser modes on series S. it's a bethesda game, so I would be stunned if they have a 60fps mode on the series S. and I'd expect as others have mentioned the series X to drop to sub 20 on occasion.
Does it have splitscreen? Otherwise, I'm not sure what multiplayer matters. Most online games are at least 60.

On consoles? Yes. Zero chance their engine runs all the environment/ai/object-persistence at 60fps on console.

40 fps is not a good way to play a game. That's an inconsistent frame rate, even though it's higher than 30. A 30fps lock would always be preferable unless you can hit 60 fps locked
At 120 hz, like sony with ps5 does, it matches the screen refresh and it's perfectly consistent

I'm assuming you're not familiar with the concept of 40 frames dividing evenly into 120hz displays which means no judder/stutter and an even response that falls exactly between locked 30 and locked 60.

Did he really said that?

Wanted to quote this again because I watch Mr. Matty Plays and his most recent video which covers Starfield and the 30FPS debate has a clip at the 2:20- mark where Todd Howard is in an interview and he basically says that he's okay with their games being 30FPS as long as all the systems and whatnot are running as they should.

Of course it will be 30fps. Shit probably won't be even steady 30fps considering Bethesda's history. You people have fun with that lol.
