There are plenty of actors with far more illegal/reprehensible stuff in their past that keep on keeping on. Marky Mark with his brutal beating, Polanski and his child rape, Penn and his wife beating, god only knows how many athlete/music industry originating actors where violence is par for the course.
I'm not sure why WB is tip toeing around this, other than the film itself is shaky and they are already nervous, or they are WAAAAAAY overestimating the impact of Ezra's antics on box office. Maybe WB isn't confident in their ability to control enough media outlets to direct the narrative the way say, Disney, might. A mediocre film with bad PR is a recipe for disaster and Ezra is far less defensible on the oppression hierarchy than others might be and he probably is pretty unwilling to play along with PR long enough to get the film out.
