So are people pirating DS carts yet?

I'm looking at some DS games on ebay, but the ones from Hong Kong still worry me because i got screwed out of a GBA cart from Hong Kong. Is it reliable still?

I recommend against buying any brand-name products from Hong Kong on Ebay. The chances of it being legitimate are very slim.

ds carts are legit. the only way of playing ds ROMS on a ds is through a gba flash cart. the same way DS homebrew is played. there is no way to write roms to the ds carts as of yet (and probably never will be) so your safe, regardless where te ds games come from

Why would there never be? Did Nintendo finally accomplish for portables what they mostly accomplished with consoles with the GCN discs?

I had the same concern. Look at the price of shipping though. Usually a game is say 25-30 dollars, but adding the shipping and INSURANCE, makes it come out to 40-45 bucks. Insurance is usually required and not clearly marked in the auction. They also try and use GBP so it doesn't look as high. For that price you might as well go with a legit store like liksang or playasia and get some free shit/$5 off.

from what ive read there is no way to make a "writeable" ds cart, even on a firmware flashed DS (theyve gotten around that protection) a ds will still not read a cart if its not signed, ala sony with theyre homebrew crap.

ps. added mejilan to xbl, are u ever on dude? :P

I was off for two days, got bored of the console and launch games I bought. But I went on today and accepted 4 friend requests. About to leave to celebrate Hanukah with my brother and his wife, but I'll be on later tonight to try some PDZ online for the first time. :)

Thanks for answering the DS questions. I guess they just didn't try with GBA security, then.

It's still quite safe to buy DS carts from HK. In fact, it's quite safe to buy most things from Hong Kong. GBA games and DVDs maybe being the exception. Just look at the price, the text and the feedback and use your brain.

Check the shipping costs before you bid. They always put low prices and HUGE shipping cost or insurance (which isn't option, but requied).
