[HF2014]

So, we finally know the name of this little Yoda in Mandalorian episode 5, and it is call Grogu ( spelled Grogoo ).I can say pretty much when i heard it, i didnt like it, some lf my friends too are not much of a fan of it. But 2 days have passed, and now i finally start liking it. It sure does not sound as a name as cool as Yoda, Gizmo, Pika? ( lol. ), but i finally dig it. Im even thinking with a name that sound a bit darker like this, well perhaps a twist will make him one day become more of a darker character?

So, do you like it or not?

I didn't like it at first because it sounds too much like Goku and reminded me of a shitty Dragon Ball knock off. It's grown on me a bit but I still wouldn't say I like it.

To me he will always be Baby Yoda and I feel like if they were gonna introduce a name for him they should have done it earlier.

Agree. But at first god when i tried to say it, it sound strange, hard sentence name.Im still beleiving its ment to be darker. But, two days afte, im digging it, was just hard at the beginning.

its ugly imo. "Gr" is the start of the words "Gross" and "Grotesque". all the other Yoda-species beings seem o start with the more elegant Y - Yoda, Yaddle, etc.

ultimately it doesn't matter too much. if it works, it works. having a bad or stupid name doesn't really doom you, just as the Beatles.

Was expecting it would start with Y like Yama, Yagna, Yash or Yogin but its good that they break some conventions. Any sort of expanded universe seems to extrapolate from the one or two members of their species shown for the films. Like if Yoda wore a fez, then every member of his species would be wearing a fez because of some contrived backstory.

For marketing purposes Grogu isn't a fittingly cute name since neither Gro nor Gu sound inviting in English but I'm okay with it.

I like the Mandalorian but I agree with you. I will say that the Mandalorian is feeling more and more like an apology from Disney since it seems to be in a big hurry to bring in all the EU stuff that people were pissed off about when Disney threw it all out the window.

Not subbing to a Disney service to watch one Star Wars show. I've said it here many times before but the ST basically killed any interest I had in the franchise, and I've left it behind me. I saw that this was being received better than most things they've done in the past several years but that didn't turn the ship around for me. They're going to have to produce another movie that is balls to the fucking walls amazing from trailers alone to even get me to turn my head anymore. I don't care and lost faith in the creatives in control.

Yeah, my fate too was gone about getting something as good as the original trilogy. Latest trilogy suck even more than Phantom Menace, only one movie i enjoy a bit was Rogue One, but everything else, nothing come close to be on par to New Hope, ESB and Return of the Jedi.

I'm not saying it's not good I'm just saying I don't want to watch it. I don't like trashing on this franchise anymore I try to stay out of these threads, but yeah, I'm at a point as a old fan where I'm like, this entire enterprise feels like corporate consumer acquisition to me and not art for the love of it. I actively dislike the franchise and it's cheerleaders now, I want nothing to do with it.

My loss? Perhaps. Like I said, I'll need to see a trailer that makes my jaw drop and go "motherfucker I need to see this" before I re-engage with this garbage universe, by all accounts this show is decent but not mindblowing and leans on a lot of nostalgia and gimmicks like "baby yoda"
