....and it tastes like Diet Coke.

I think the only real difference is the no calorie thing. Anyone think it has a difference taste? Just trying to see if it's just me.

I wish they would just give up.

Really.

The cure to Diet Coke aftertaste is called HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP! Deal with your 100 calories per 8 oz. and move on with your life.

I figured it was just being test marketed in my area because I hadn't seen any media promotion and they were selling bottles two for a dollar.

This is a national roll out?

I like it. I think it tastes much better than Diet Coke and closer to Coke. I don't understand the "after taste" comments, but I hear it enough to know that it must exist for many people.

Guess I've spent my life not drinking the real stuff.

Ah, but I am a diabetic, so it's not exactly the calories I'm worried about here.

And if you're looking for a good Diet Drink...
stewarts-diet_orange2.jpg

Diet Stewart's Orange and Cream Soda. Sadly, I can only find four-packs at my Cracker Barrel. But there's like drinking dreamsicles.

intangibles, motherfucker
Pepsi Edge>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Coca Cola Zero

Pepsi Edge tastes almost exactly like regular pepsi to me. So much so that i buy that instead of regular pepsi.

That coke can looks kinda cool atleast.....

$50/hour, but no kissing on the lips and colors must be pre-separated
I'm getting used to Diet Dr. Pepper. I get my caffeine, but none of the ultra sugary crap I don't really want. They just really need to find a way to engineer an artificial sweetener with no aftertaste.

The Stewart's man is right. That stuff is imaculate.

Although they sell it at my Kroger. I think. Cracker Barrel would be over priced :(

Me too. Whoo for diet soda. :D I gotta try that Stewart's stuff; I'm always up for a new diet drink.

Coke Zero doesn't taste anything like Diet Coke. It's much much better, much closer to regular Coke. My understanding is that Coke Zero is the Coca-Cola Classic formula, but with aspartame instead of corn syrup. Diet Coke is a different formula -- supposedly the New Coke they tried a while back was the Diet Coke formula with corn syrup instead of aspartame.

Not being a fan of regular Pepsi, I have not tried Pepsi Edge (actually I haven't seen it anyway).

In the pantheon of good diet sodas, here are my rankings:

1. Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper
2. Diet Barq's Root Beer
3. Coke Zero
4. Diet Dr. Pepper
5. Diet Vanilla Coke
6. Diet Cherry Coke
7. Diet Coke
8. Diet Pepsi

The top 3 are pretty much interchangeable. Oh, and I didn't much like the Diet Coke With Splenda.

^^^^ Diet Barqs is really good ^^^^

Mine:

1. Diet Barqs
2. Coke Zero
3. Diet Vanilla Coke
4. Diet Coke with Lime
5. Pepsi One

I do have a big preference for Coke products.

Regular Pepsi totally sucks in comparison to regular Coke IMO.

Regular Coke is my all time favorite though I have cut back quite a bit on regular sodas.

Well, I guess its the holy grail when someone makes a sweetner exactly like regular sugar.

My brother thinks Coke Zero is almost exactly like regular Coke and he felt that Coke Zero might have been a bit sweeter.

I thought Diet Coke has aspartame? I heard Coke was going to start using Splenda -- is that was Coke Zero is? There's too many Cokes!

"Normal" Diet Coke and Coke Zero both have aspartame but different flavor formulas.

There is ALSO Diet Coke with Splenda. I don't much like it.

I think its amazing how much Coke Zero tastes like regular Coke. Even moreso than C2. I did notice that it tasted best when it was really cold... the last few sips I had that were kind of warm started to taste more like a diet soda.

The initial flavor is fairly similar to Coca Cola, but it has the same god awful aftertaste of diet coke.

Worthless.

That's odd, I can drink diet coke/pepsi, but thier non-diet versions are like drinking syrup. I hate thier flavor heh. But I've been drinking diet soda for years.

Well, I think with anything with aspartame is better when its kept cold, as heat breaks it down.

Don't make this mistake, leaving diet soda in the garage on hot summer days. My wife wants store it there and does this all the time, I keep telling her no, no, no, it turns the stuff into something awful. I don't know how long it takes, but it is nasty when it happens, I've had to throw out whole 12 packs that have been ruined.

I'm willing to pay the extra cost if it means getting real sugar put back into soda. The difference is like night and day.

ever since I went on a diet and switched all my products to diet soda, I can't go back to the regular thing no matter how hard I try.

Regular coke just doesn't taste good to me anymore, it's not even that I feel bad for consuming the calories in coke, it's that Im addicted to the shit in diet.

Ever since my diet I've cut out normal drinks as well and now i don't think I can ever go back either. They just taste too damned sweet. And diet cherry 7up is the shit!!

Coke up in Canada has real sugar in it, right? Or have I been fooling myself everytime I buy a case when I'm in Vancouver?

What the hell happened to the Fresca can?

COCA-COLA NORTH AMERICA
ANNOUNCES FRESCA MAKEOVER

Two New Line Extensions To Accompany New Look For Venerable Brand

ATLANTA, May 25, 2005 – Coca-Cola North America today announced a makeover for its Fresca brand along with two new line extensions that will launch in the United States this September.
Fresca will be given a fresh, contemporary look, including a new logo and new packaging graphics. Two new flavors – Sparkling Peach Citrus Fresca and Sparkling Black Cherry Citrus Fresca – will also be introduced as zero calorie line extensions to the brand. The unique sparkling citrus flavor of original Fresca will remain unchanged.
“Fresca resonates with people who have a sophisticated taste and are unwilling to compromise on flavor or calories,” said Alison Lewis, vice president, Sprite and Flavors, Coca-Cola North America. “We believe Fresca’s new look and expanded flavor offerings will appeal to folks who are looking for a unique taste beyond the ordinary.”
The Fresca brand will be supported by an extensive marketing campaign, featuring television, radio and out of home advertising, online activation and unique sampling programs. The advertising campaign, developed by Minneapolis-based Campbell Mithun, will highlight Fresca as a uniquely sophisticated “sparkling citrus” soft drink, ideal for moments of perfectly relaxed pleasure. Further details on marketing plans will be made available closer to the introduction.

All three Fresca flavors will be available in a variety of packaging sizes, including 12-ounce cans, 20-ounce bottles, 2-liter bottles and multi-can packs.
Fresca’s new look and two new line extensions are the latest examples of Coca-Cola North America’s “100 Days Of Diets” strategy, which includes the introduction of Diet Coke sweetened with Splenda Brand Sweetener and Coca-Cola Zero.
The Coca-Cola Company is the world's largest beverage company. Along with Coca-Cola, recognized as the world's most valuable brand, the Company markets four of the world's top five soft drink brands, including Diet Coke, Fanta and Sprite, and a wide range of other beverages, including diet and light soft drinks, waters, juices and juice drinks, teas, coffees and sports drinks. I like Diet Barq's OK, but it doesn't have any caffeine in it, which is a bummer for me (aren't you a programmer too? you know what I mean :)

Pepsi One (with Splenda) is pretty good stuff. I like it better than the Diet Coke with Splenda (which I think is OK)...

I'm also liking the "light" fruit drinks - 5-10 calories a can, and they taste pretty good. I particularly like the Tropicana drinks (the orangeade is killer) and the Hawaiian Sun light is pretty good too.

My mother in law was raving for months about the Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper. I tried it a few weeks ago and just about gagged. Mind you, Dr. Pepper is my favorite soda, period. I though it tasted like Diet Dr. Pepper (which is pretty good) plus turpintine.

My list would be:

1. Diet Dr. Pepper
2. Diet French Vanilla Shasta
3. Diet Vanilla Coke

Um...that's about it. I've tried the Diet Coke with Splenda and it's just too sweet for me, though the aftertaste is better than regular Diet Coke. Then again, I only switched to diet soda about three months ago, so I have not explored all that much. I'm kinda used to it, and my teeth feel better without all the sugar dissolviing them. But it seems to range from okay to nasty.
