....and it tastes like Diet Coke.
I think the only real difference is the no calorie thing. Anyone think it has a difference taste? Just trying to see if it's just me.

Really.
The cure to Diet Coke aftertaste is called HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP! Deal with your 100 calories per 8 oz. and move on with your life.

And if you're looking for a good Diet Drink...

Diet Stewart's Orange and Cream Soda. Sadly, I can only find four-packs at my Cracker Barrel. But there's like drinking dreamsicles.
tedtropy said:I'm getting used to Diet Dr. Pepper. I get my caffeine, but none of the ultra sugary crap I don't really want. They just really need to find a way to engineer an artificial sweetener with no aftertaste.
Manics said:I thought Diet Coke has aspartame? I heard Coke was going to start using Splenda -- is that was Coke Zero is? There's too many Cokes!
StrikerObi said:The initial flavor is fairly similar to Coca Cola, but it has the same god awful aftertaste of diet coke.
Worthless.
segatavis said:I think its amazing how much Coke Zero tastes like regular Coke. Even moreso than C2. I did notice that it tasted best when it was really cold... the last few sips I had that were kind of warm started to taste more like a diet soda.
Ah, another Diabetic, I thought I was the only one here. I must find this diet stewart's somewhere, sounds good. And whats with this diet coke after taste that you all keep talking about? I guess I'm just used to it....mightynine said:Ah, but I am a diabetic, so it's not exactly the calories I'm worried about here.

Two New Line Extensions To Accompany New Look For Venerable Brand
ATLANTA, May 25, 2005 Coca-Cola North America today announced a makeover for its Fresca brand along with two new line extensions that will launch in the United States this September.
Fresca will be given a fresh, contemporary look, including a new logo and new packaging graphics. Two new flavors Sparkling Peach Citrus Fresca and Sparkling Black Cherry Citrus Fresca will also be introduced as zero calorie line extensions to the brand. The unique sparkling citrus flavor of original Fresca will remain unchanged.
Fresca resonates with people who have a sophisticated taste and are unwilling to compromise on flavor or calories, said Alison Lewis, vice president, Sprite and Flavors, Coca-Cola North America. We believe Frescas new look and expanded flavor offerings will appeal to folks who are looking for a unique taste beyond the ordinary.
The Fresca brand will be supported by an extensive marketing campaign, featuring television, radio and out of home advertising, online activation and unique sampling programs. The advertising campaign, developed by Minneapolis-based Campbell Mithun, will highlight Fresca as a uniquely sophisticated sparkling citrus soft drink, ideal for moments of perfectly relaxed pleasure. Further details on marketing plans will be made available closer to the introduction.
All three Fresca flavors will be available in a variety of packaging sizes, including 12-ounce cans, 20-ounce bottles, 2-liter bottles and multi-can packs.
Frescas new look and two new line extensions are the latest examples of Coca-Cola North Americas 100 Days Of Diets strategy, which includes the introduction of Diet Coke sweetened with Splenda Brand Sweetener and Coca-Cola Zero.

2. Diet Barq's Root Beer
3. Coke Zero
4. Diet Dr. Pepper
5. Diet Vanilla Coke
6. Diet Cherry Coke
7. Diet Coke
8. Diet Pepsi
The top 3 are pretty much interchangeable. Oh, and I didn't much like the Diet Coke With Splenda.
SteveMeister said:Coke Zero doesn't taste anything like Diet Coke. It's much much better, much closer to regular Coke. My understanding is that Coke Zero is the Coca-Cola Classic formula, but with aspartame instead of corn syrup. Diet Coke is a different formula -- supposedly the New Coke they tried a while back was the Diet Coke formula with corn syrup instead of aspartame.
Not being a fan of regular Pepsi, I have not tried Pepsi Edge (actually I haven't seen it anyway).
In the pantheon of good diet sodas, here are my rankings:
1. Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper
2. Diet Barq's Root Beer
3. Coke Zero
4. Diet Dr. Pepper
5. Diet Vanilla Coke
6. Diet Cherry Coke
7. Diet Coke
8. Diet Pepsi
