It seems to me that Nintendo is still focusing on Gamecube titles, so it would be a good idea to have atleast one internal dev team that is focusing on next gen. A lot is already won if Retro is able to work on a quality launch title on Revolution. I am all for it.

I think they should. They have the technical proficiency to engage productively in early work on next-gen systems, and could share their experience with other teams. So they should get a headstart, imo. I'd love to see a title from them at launch. Although I'm not sure how much I would want a metroid title over something new.

I wouldn't mind a Metroid Prime 3 (so it becomes a triology), but I don't care if it's something else either.

Yeah, I think Retro's next project will be for the Revolution. I wouldn't mind Metroid Prime 3, or something original. Doesn't matter to me. But I'd like to see an original shooter from them, if they do something original.

I wouldn't mind seeing Retro remake the original 3 Metroids for the Revolution. They can start with Metroid 1 (Launch) then do Metroid 2 two years later then Super Metroid 2 years after that.

Of course, it would be nice if Nintendo expanded the studio so that they could put out a non-Metroid title at launch as well...and a non-Metroid game every year or two.

Let Retro develop an online FPS for the DS. No Revolution needed for the first three upcoming years.

Y'know, Retro probably is working on Revolution software, be it for launch or not.

The bigger issue is why are we even talking about this? The Revolution might be shown at E3 2005, but it will absolutely not be releasing until the end of 2006. That's a good 2 years left in the Gamecube life cycle.

You can bet Nintendo is handling internal development on preliminary Revolution projects well and making sure dev houses get dev kits when they can, BUT -

We should all be enjoying the current generation! There's a lot of life let in it.

If they start now they can definitely have a launch title for revolution. 2 years -- that's the same time it took them to make Echoes. Of course they have to work on a new machine and won't be getting final developments kits for some times, so who knows.

I don't want to see a FPS though; an epic action/adventure RPG would be cool. XD

Dear lord, Nintendo show that they aren't going to abandon the GC a whole year or more before there next system shows up and suddenly it panic stations.
