So, EB stopped price matching?

Or was the assistant manager at the one near me just being a dick? He says they stopped a year ago, but i got a PM on Republican Commando from the manager.
Is this because of teh Gamestop/EB merger? If so, they just lost my business..

I work on a Eb part time since last April and i'm told not to price match. It may be there since a year or so i guess.
Price matching isn't all cool. Some people really try to exploit, they even try to get discounts because store X is having a promotion. It's weird they never seem to feel like going at that store X to buy the game in question.

Another note... to price match Wallmart is a bad thing to do i think. Wallmart is playing politics with it's big bucks and they are so rich and powerfull that they get "special rebates" in distribution thus allowing them to sell at a lower price. This is anti-competition behavior imo.

Its too bad other companies were busy charging higher prices on products and let a company like Walmart get big. :lol

They used to do it, but stopped. I did it all the time in combo with trade in deals to utterly shame their prices.

Yeah well, Wallmart isn't ruling retail because of games...

Hey, if it takes less work to get a price match at nearby store than it does to drive to the cheaper place, of COURSE I'm going to ask for a price match. I tend to do this a lot with Fry's deals, price matching them over at Wal-Mart.

I thought the policy was that they only price-matched if there was a Gamestop and EB in the same mall, then one would price-match the other if a customer wanted the game but wanted to buy it at the other store.

If they were price-matching other stores, they were just being nice to you.

I work at Wal-mart and our prices on games usually suck. We generally don't have good in stores prices unless the associates are told to flag games with prices from other stores ads. In fact, Wal-mart is the last place I would go to buy video games at.

My EB would pricematch anything that was in the mall. They stopped doing that too? Man I guess I'll be buying more and more online.

I'd love to play that game.

Haha, it's an inside joke.

Anyways, i've PMed games at EB since the Dreamcast days, it used to be a 'quiet' poilcy of theirs. I'd do this with games i absolutely had to have on day-1. I guarantee that if i go there today and the manager is working, he'd PM whatever is on a Fry's ad.

Oh, well. From now on i'll just wait until Fry's gets their games in. It's to bad becasue i spend thousands a year at EB. Not to mention the money they make off of my trade-ins.

EB did price match, but their rules for it were rather strict. Needed to have a flyer, the store had to be within like a mile radius, EB had to call to make sure the item was in-stock, etc. A lot of the time, it was so much trouble, employees would just tell customers they didn't match.

Well this is odd, because I called EB just last week and asked if they would price match Soul Calibur 3 which was selling 10 dollars cheaper at Future Shop and they said "Yup, no problem". Then again, I'm in Canada.

yeah, i remember trying to pricematch at EB like 3 years ago and the price match was actually a rebate form for the difference. Not sure if they even do that anymore. I haven't bought a game at an EB or Gamestop in years.

Same here. Actually I work part-time (I'm too in Canada) and I did price-matched SW: Battlefront II for one customer. Never heard of anything for being against it if we have a proof.
