So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

Well the Gamestop bundles are at least serviceable now. I'm going to get the Neon Zelda one.

Yeah I am currently eyeing that one too. It says ships by 6/9 and also releases on 6/9. Curious if it will ship before that date or on it. I guess it is listed as a preorder so maybe it won't actually ship until that date.

Or do I take my chances and keep trying to find one in the wild. Champagne problems I suppose.

Switch = $300
Kart = $60
2 Wheels = $15
Dock = $30

Looks like you save $5, but the dock is on sale at the moment for 23.99 so it depends how you want to look at it.
Ok, was making sure my math wasn't wrong. Definitely gonna grab this next week, if it's still available.

Amazon is having trouble even keeping games in stock. Both USFII and Disgaea are ships in 1-4 weeks. Jeez
That's on NIS and Capcom/Nintendo (depending on your region), not (solely) Nintendo. Seems like everyone underestimated the purchase power of Switch owners, both Nintendo and third party publishers. Same thing happened in some capacity with Lego City Undercover as well.

Demand can't be that high lol, I have two at the house (in stock lol) and can't sell 'em at cost + tax.

One of the reasons I never buy from third party sellers is that there's no return policy if there's an issue. Even at a reasonable price, I'd rather go through a reputable store.

I also don't want to reward scalpers, but even at cost + tax, the overall value is lower than that of Target or Best Buy for something like a console.

Still haven't seen one in the wild , closing in on 3 months here. Online store check reveals that best buy seems to be sold out Canada wide. EBgames has units scattered about , mostly in Ontario.

Seems it may remain hard to find one in North America for a while yet. I can safely admit it's selling much better than i anticipated , considering there's no currently available title that really screams BUY A SWITCH. The scarcity is working because knowing I can't find one without a ton of effort kind of makes me want one and there's nothing I even want to play on it until Mario Oddysee is out ..

I keep the receipts for those "just in case" reasons. Your point is understandable though.

Yesterday morning I was travelling for Memorial Day. Stop at a random Target on the way because my wife wanted to stretch her legs.

Saw a Neon Switch sitting there in the display. Immediately called someone over and bought it. I asked the guy if it had been there long, because I never see one at any of the stores I go to at home. He said they got 5 or 6 on Friday, specifically for Memorial Day weekend and I got the last one.

Also bought a pro controller, screen protector, MK8, and Legend of Zelda but that is beside the point.

Sounded like what the guy was saying earlier was true, Target was stocking up a bit for the holiday weekend.

Will a screen protector stop the dock from scratching the screen and bezel?

I dont even use one and I have no scratches. (bought midnight on launch date)

But otherwise, yes. The main thing when docking is to not lean the Switch forward and have the pressure on the front but to lean it back so the pressure is on the rear.

Was able to snag one (gray joycons) from a local Walmart today after checking istocknow. I actually went to a Target first because it said they had 4 units left, but there weren't any there when I asked. The Walmart ended up having 2 units.

Just gave up and order the Mario kart bundle from game stop. Bit disappointed in myself, but I couldn't justify the use of the car to just scramble around stores.
Edit: and it's the garbage neon set.

That's why I won't preorder the bundles, all of the ones I have seen have been the blue/red joy-cons and I can't abide the two different colored joy-cons. I know gamestop had a zelda bundle with gray joy-cons up for an unknown amount of time but I missed it.

Yes, but if your dock it bent a bit, it'll be snuggier since the Switch will be thicker and the back tabs could scratch the back of your Switch..

To prevent that, I installed felt pads on the back tabs of my dock at the same time I installed my tempered glass (I went with Orzly, failed to install the first one properly due to dust but thankfully those are packed in qty of 2 and the second one went flawlessly.) and never had any problem since that moment.

Not sure tbh.

What is the consensus on the best tempered glass protector?

Thanks for advice mchonkey. Haven't got a switch but looking to get one soon.

the amFilm screen protectors through amazon are good value and good quality.

$9 for 2.

I can vouch for the amFilm protectors. Had a Switch since launch, never had a problem with scratches or bent dock; however reading these threads I ordered this protector just to make sure. I am very pleased with the protectors. Great packaging that comes with everything you need for the installation. Using the hinge method, the application went flawlessly. Can't even tell it's there and the screen feels great to the touch.

This is the same bundle I ordered and I just realized I got the neon set too
Nooooooooooooooooooooo ;_;

I guess I'll live because I could not find a single store that stocked it.

I really, truly think the neon set looks a million times better in person. I'm failrly confident you won't hate it when it's delivered :)

After using istocknow and calling almost 10 different stores (none of them had stock) i ended up just ordering the neon Zelda bundle that Gamestop had a few days ago. It comes with BOTW, the season pass, and a case which would have been my first purchases if I managed to find one anyway. It won't ship until the 9th, but that's alright. Just happy to be able to get one.

The thrill of the hunt was fun though.

Managed to find a grey one yesterday at a walmart.

I used brickseek to get a general idea on which ones to call, though frustratingly enough they always said they were sold out despite stock showing (I know the think isn't all that accurate or up to date on stock.) Walked in without calling (was in the area picking stuff up anyways) and saw one on a shelf.

So, the stock situation sucks and it's irritating that third parties on walmart and amazon are charging $400-500 for just the console alone. In my search, I was told by a gamestop employee that the $500 bundles were in stock on the website, so that's an option for people I suppose.

I'm a fan of old eighties/nineties bulky electronics. Would've much preferred a solid grey, but hey, odds are I'll buy another set of joycons down the road anyway.

Amazon has the dock/charger combo in stock for the first time in forever.

I've spent over $500 (after this purchase) on this little console already lol.

But I need this, cause it would be amazing to just leave a dock downstairs for when people come over, or when I don't want to go to my room to play.

Easy to get one in Hamburg Germany in local shops. Maaaaybe I will buy one too soon, but I need way more games though and I had a Wii U so Zelda is out of question hmm

If you want it this year, you should probably get one sometime before October.

The holidays will be insane for this thing.

Nya not here and if it comes to worst I have to just ask one person who will give me the next immediately. That was never a problem, but everytime Ive walked into a store here these past weeks I could have just bought one. Waiting for E3 and good announcements like I would buy one immediately for Smash and SMTV.

You are aware that Nintendo isn't the distributor in Denmark? It's Bergsala for all the Nordic countries.

They still have to work with Nintendo (even if it is through proxy). Nintendo is not nice to work with if you are in resale, not like Sony whom even checks storefronts for product placements and rewards you if it is placed well. The fact that Nintendo doesn't do it themselves, while Sony does, should be enough evidence for you on this matter. Nintendo doesn't care about Europe, they never did. It was the reason why SEGA could take over at first even with the Master System as a step up to the dominating Megadrive, that sold far better there than in the USA. Heck in Brazil SEGA ruled supreme.

Nintendo just lets others do it for them, and frankly it is annoying if you're a reseller that you cannot just call a "sales representative" from Nintendo to complain about your stock. Heck with Sony you can just reach someone and write down his name to talk with him in the future. Now I'm far from a Sony fanboy, but credit where credit's due. Sony's European distribution network is nothing short of solid.

PS: I know they don't do it personally, but they make sure there is a standard upheld. Sony will switch distributor or add a second or even third one if one of them does not keep up to par. You can have several distributors for the Play-station products in one European country.

Yeah I saw that in stock and wish I'd have just bit the bullet. Now the only one even listed anymore is the MK8 bundle with those fucking wheels and charging dock...

Was traveling from the US to home country and was surprised by how much stock the stores here have. They're selling them for about 550 usd wich is crazy
hmVsg

I bought a Switch last week at FNAC in France, they said that I could wait as long as a month in a half for it.

Reminds me of the PS4 launch, it's selling really well here.

Obviously YMMV, but for anyone in the NE Ohio area, I've been seeing a lot of the Gray ones at Walmart at TRU. Spotted a few Neons at a Walmart yesterday closer to Middlefield/Amish area.

Clearly the Amish have been hoarding the Switch.

The cheapest one. They are all most likely sourced from the same chinese factory. People keep mentioning amfilm are simply doing so because that was the first one on amazon or something. I saw some posted on slickdeals a couple days ago for 5.
