So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

So, wait...they tried to double charge you and the second payment was declined, so they didn't send you your item? What if it hadn't been declined, you would have just been charged twice? Get it together Amazon.es.

1st payment my bank stopped, I immediately updated spoke to an agent and charge went through. Then a day later I get a payment decline email.

The agent today I spoke to tried to charge me again... So, obviously they saw the declined 3rd* payment.

Strolled into a FNAC today, plenty of everything.

Impulse bought a neon and zelda.

I'm gonna regret it...

You are not going to regret it. You are going to regret the backlog that builds up because of Zelda taking a straight week of your time.

Thats what I have learned from this purchase. Everything including Horizon has been put on hold. Eat, sleep, live Zelda.

I'm Dutch. Can't find it online at Bol.com ( our biggest online retailer ), nor at Mediamarkt or any number of other sites ( based in NL ). There's still places where I saw a Switch itself or two for sale, but Zelda is sold out everywhere. So I don't know about the Switch itself, but I can say with reasonable certainty that the launch shipment for Zelda Switch was not sufficient for launch.
Local stores have nothing Switch. No Switch, no games, no accessories, no shelf space reserved for anything Switch. It's as if the Switch hasn't launched yet.Yeaaaahhhh not gonna fill up my storage day one.Heh. :P
Update: checked four stores in a nearby city on my way back home; none of them had Zelda. Each had just around two copies of Just Dance 2017 and all had a whole bunch of 1-2-Switch. After getting back home, Zelda randomly popped back up on Bol.com ( New shipment already? Found a pallet full sitting in their warehouse? Magic? ) and I was able to order it there with delivery tomorrow.

I feel like Zelda was very much under-shipped here and that Nintendo waaaaaaay overestimated the appeal of 1-2-Switch ( especially with that price tag .x. ).

I picked one up on Amazon.es on the 8th and it looks like my tracker has changed from "preparing your shipment" to "It is sent today"

This is based on chrome translate which I am guessing is the equivalent to "Shipping today" on the US store.

I'm in southern maine and I cannot find a switch anywhere. Plenty of Zelda including special editions. Few pro controllers. Zero consoles anywhere that i've found.

Have you tried in store? One of the few things Target had in stock today was pro controllers.

Yeah just went to a Target and although I couldn't find a console they had some pro controllers. He told me to buy it now because it's going fast. (Sadly for Nintendo the ship has sailed, I'll spend my money somewhere else)

Nintendo is sad to see you go, but wish you happiness in life.

I haven't received my switch from gamestop back at home, I am starting to get worried.

Not at any store in my city. Most cities an hour away and farther have stock, though. I'm tempted to make a road trip because playing with my Joy Cons is torture. If I don't play leaning forward, my inputs become unbearably inconsistent.

The local store here at Kasaoka just got a box full of switches, managed to grab one and Zelda, going to work for a bit and then play with the GF.

Has anyone seen any in or around the Twin Cities area? Most Walmarts around here are showing that they have stock, but some people have said that it's just their system not updating. Literally everywhere else I've checked has shown 0 in stock.

Is there any area in which Sweden is not a modern paradise?
I know, right? Nintendo Switches in every store, delicious chocolates, beautiful women.

I haven't seen any systems in stock around here (New Hampshire), only regular editions of Zelda and plenty of the other launch games.

It's not their system not updating, it's the fact that those are layaway/pre-orders which Walmart is obligated to hold until April 1st unless the buyer cancels themselves. Basically, the only reason to believe that walmart has stock at this point is if you're watching the values and see them increase from previous, meaning they got new stock in from shipment/returns. Unfortunately I couldn't find any kind of history functionality in brickseek and I'm too lazy to write things down manually. So yeah, there's no evil conspiracy and walmart employees aren't necessarily incompetent or lazy, they just can't sell you stock that has been preordered/layaway'd and they have an absurdly long hold policy.

Edit: The real douchebags in this situation are not walmart employees, they're the people who preordered half a dozen systems and are letting them sit at retailers to see if they become rare enough to go through the effort of flipping. And if you look around GAF/reddit/etc you'll see a huge amount of people openly admitting to doing so in the same threads where everyone else is struggling to find one to purchase.

So my local Target gets shipments of Pro Controllers in without warning. They didn't have any scheduled, but a couple came in last night and were sold minutes after they opened this morning.

Now, I'm just hoping that happens again and I can be the one to get one. Maybe this is happening in other stores, too.

Went to Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and GameStop today. No switches, neon controllers, official cases, or Zelda stuff. Saw a few pro controllers at Target and some grey Joycons. Also seems like Archer link and Zelda are the most popular amiibos. I've seen several bokoblins and guardians at every store.

I was at Best Buy picking up BOTW. I decided to ask the manager about Switch stock, hoping to see if anyone cancelled a preorder I could grab for someone on GAF. He said they got one shipment, a few cancellations (which were all snagged pretty quick), and weren't expecting a new shipment until mid April. Take that for what it is, but that's not the first time we've heard that...

Target employee just told me they normally get a week notice for incoming stock but Nintendo products have been arriving in shipments, just amiibo and controllers so far, though.

Even if someone were to sell a grey for 400$ on eBay, I just don't see the reason they go through all that trouble. After taxes from purchasing the system, packaging and eBay fees, they can't make much, maybe 50$. Seems kind of pointless for all the time and trouble.

I guess they start seeing a significant profit after 10?

I'd imagine that'd be the latest for a second shipment. It'd be incredibly stupid not to have them available when Mario Kart comes out.

There's a local person selling "the last 8 neon switch" consoles he has left for $100 over retail. As well as a bunch of pro controllers and joy cons. I sent him a message telling him how big of a shit head he is.

That stuff makes me so incredibly angry. Dude legit went around and bought up stock simply to deny other people the option without paying out the ass.

People are the worst sometimes.

E: His picture showed 22 Switch consoles. Fuck him.

Yup, he's an asshole.

Chat.

They tried to charge me after the inital payment went through. The second charge declined since I didnt authorize it, but they didnt realize I had already paid...

They were just looking at the most recent declined charge.

They guaranteed me it is shipping today, but it was originally supposed to arrive today...

*Bangs keyboard*

The chat people keep ending our conversations too... I just want to get refunded my shipping since I paid for expedited delivery.

hopefully you get it next week at least.

That happened for awhile for me too, the next step is the tracking info

ah good. It says 3/15 for me, but still not tracking info. I'm good with 3/15 if it's true... just happy to get one for retail... it's a nintendo wasteland out here.

I'm curious, is this kind of behavior common in other countries, or is it just a shitty thing in the US?

I'm looking for a Switch again after having had to return my original pre-order due to the wifi issue. Retailers are bone dry.

For anyone interested in international amazon options, the featured comment at the top here http://www.nowinstock.net/videogaming/consoles/nintendoswitch/ is tracking prices in different regions that will ship to US and has links to the power plug / ac adapter you may need to purchase separately depending on where you live. There are a lot of positive reports of orders from Amazon Japan coming in now also, and one benefit of purchasing there is that the ac adapter matches NA. There's also a lot of good general discussion/status-reports about international purchases at the link above so if you're striking out locally and looking for other options it's probably worth at least a quick look. The biggest concern for most people will probably be the fact that if the hardware has issues after 30 days (amazon fully covers returns within that period) you would have to ship to the region you purchased it in to get repairs under warranty.

Edit: If you use chrome you can 'context menu -> Translate to English'
Edit2: Spain still looks like the best option in terms of upcoming stock dates with 3/17

Checked availability today around me just to see what it was like and a Walmart 38 miles from here has 8. The hype and limited availability is making me want one. Not the games or the system, so I'm not going to get it.

Quick question: if one were to buy a bundle, would it be possible to do a return on any unwanted items? I know it's a stretch.

For gamestop, 9 times out of 10, no. Sometimes they do list items separately on the receipt but that is rare. In that case you can return individual items.

So mine is saying "It sent today" - still no tracking information though.

Still trying to get my shipping refunded since ordering expedited shipping is pointless if it takes days to actually ship...

How long do you all speculate it will take for the retail stock situation to not be a serious issue? I highly doubt it'll be as bad as the Wii. I got one on launch day and by the time I got rid of it (in April 2008) people were still willing to spend over its initial retail price for it on Amazon and eBay.

I think I had the 'It sent today' message for at least 6-12 hours before I got an update with the actual tracking number etc - I'd bet it will update overnight tonight. Once you get the UPS tracking number you'll get actual tracking updates live, the amazon notifications are always slow/behind for me even with US purchases.

I don't think the software demand is there to drive sales for too long right now. The Wii came out near Christmas and had Wii Sports, which everyone and their grandma (literally) was playing. Grandma isn't playing Zelda. I think within a few weeks they will be everywhere.

Quick question guys, will I buy able to be a U.S. charger and copy of Zelda at say Best Buy?

Okay thanks.

Now the struggle to get refunded my shipping cost continues~

Saw this elsewhere/earlier in this thread. Cant remember specifically. Aparantly Nintendo typically ship bigger amounts less frequently to the AUS/NZ region to save on costs.
