So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

Aren't site to store orders paid for when ordered on the website? Or would they pay when they pick it up?

In my experience its been pay when ordered.

I know Walmart has a different variation available, where you can order, then go into Walmart and pay after-the-fact (meaning it wont ship until the buyer goes in their local Walmart and pays.)

But its typically pay before it is sent from any store Ive dealt with.

I did today. Went to a shopping center today and Walmart, Best Buy, GameStop, and Target were all out. This is the first time I've ever had trouble finding a controller for a console. I guess this isn't a first for Nintendo though since the Wii had the same issue with Wii remotes

Toys R Us here seemed to have got a restock or maybe they store transferred some in but one near me had 1 on the shelf the other day.

Went to Walmart yesterday and they had two Switch consoles and 5 Pro controllers. I was tempted to get the Pro controller, but the price put me off for now.

That Pro price is very pricey, but I'm not going to make the same mistake I made with the Wii U Pro controller. I waited for like 2 years till I saw it for a good price and saved a whopping 20$ when it was on sale at Kmart (which I got price matched at another store). I ended up loving the controller and was like did I really just put off using this controller for years to save 20$? Granted, I didn't realize I'd like the controller as much, but still.

I have been to a couple of airports in the past week and have been the only one I've seen playing one. Haven't heard of any being in stock in San Francisco area nor the NYC area.

Maybe next month we'll see some replenishment.

Update for other Amazon.es people if they are interested.

Ordered on the 8th and the status has been "It is sent Today" since 3/10 I believe. It finally changed to "On the way" with delivery being on Wednesday. I got a UPS tracking number as well.

Same here got my UPS tracking number today. Should arrive tomorrow, hopefully.

My copy of Zelda doesn't get here till Tuesday though so.....

Brickseek says one of my Walmarts has 3 and the other has 22. Called and they said no. I assume there is something wrong since this seems to be widespread...

Someone said preorders show up on Brickseek. Walmart will hold them till April 1st.

Wow. So will they refund the money to the original buyer then? It doesn't seem right that they would give away an item that's paid for by someone.

Yeah, some stores around here show 20+ and some have negative numbers even. I don't think it's right at all.

Yes? Every company does this if you don't pick it up in a week or whatever their terms are. Best buy, target, etc. all do this.

Yup, same for me - 3/15 is the target date but tracking doesn't show anything yet.

UPS tracking says the 13th for you or is that the estimated date from amazon?

Asking again for a new page... for those of you in the US that ordered from Amazon Spain or another foreign Amazon site, did you get charged a separate international service fee on top of your product + shipping cost?

so far it's been straight forward; in fact it's the same cost I would have paid locally. I'll let everyone know if I get hit with any fees but doesn't seem likely at this point.

I don't know about US, but Amazon charges Brazillian tax during checkout when you ship to Brazil. They kind of guess the tax value so if they overcharge you can ask for a refund, but if you pay less its their loss.

Usually they overcharge.

Yay! I have tracking now! TeamSpain here we go!

Nope. Just some expensive shipping to get it faster. The Switch unit itself was less than $300 though so it was worth it.

Great, thanks. My bank said there might be a fee of up to $8.

I'd jump on it if you're not confident your local area is going to stock up anytime soon. $8 is nothing if you consider you'll be able to get one for retail while it's sold out.

The unit is discounted for non-europeans, so the expensive shipping makes it the same you would pay retail + tax.

this is so true, and it applies to pretty much everything in this hobby

waiting 2 or 3 years to have a console drop in price $50 bucks only to realize you just got 2 or 3 years older and have less time on earth to play videogames... and all for $50 fucking dls.

I am buying a switch no later than Q4 2017, I just want nintendo to sort things out with their hardware problems

I don't know of any fees yet but when selecting the shipping it says
AmazonGlobal Standard (5 to 10 days. Includes paperwork and customs fees)
AmazonGlobal Express (1 to 6 days. Includes paperwork and customs fees)

I selected express since I wanted to get it before Friday and total only came out to $328 for me which was only ~$10 more than it would be here after tax. The other shipping came out to $316.

Yup this is why I went day one for Switch. Even if it's gonna drop 50$ after a year - probably won't - I don't see the point. Only postpone to save on stuff I don't care that much - and may end up in the backlog anyway.

Came out to $318 for me, at least that is what was pulled from my bank account.

I did Global Express, but they fucked up my order so I might as well have done global standard.

I live in Philadelphia and I can honestly say I've either visited or called every Walmart, Target, Best Buy and gamestop within a 30 mile radius. Not one store has them in stock or hasn't received a shipment since Last week. This is nuts.

kinda blows really bad, I had a pre-order for BB a while back but couldn't keep it because they wanted to charge my card for the full amount which I didnt have at the time. I figured I'd just be fortunate to find one a week later, but the fact that we've been in the dark for restocks, cmon Nintendo! Leaving money on the table. I've been following almost all forums for a glimmer of hope or a piece of information that will lead to a console, but nada. I don't have enough for gamestop's exorbitant pricing either.

So Brickseek is saying a local Walmart has 5 in stock. It says the other one somewhat nearby has 0 so I'm thinking maybe there are actually some there. What do you guys think? And what's up with all the different SKUs?

It's probably showing pre-orders unless there were less than 5 earlier.

Everyone I know including me is looking for a Switch and there is nothing anywhere. (Toronto)

There is a lot of cash being missed here by Nintendo no matter what the reason for the understocked situation is.
