So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

Not being able to find a console is one thing, but there's not even a fucking controller in stock where I live.

None. No pro controller, no joy-cons. God damn Nintendo, I need more controllers for Mario Kart.
I seem to see at least one pro controller every time I go to Target/Wal-Mart. I travel for work, but I've seen them in San Antonio/New Orleans/Dallas/Ft Worth/Orlando and Phoenix all within the last month.

I finally saw one in the wild today and after 7 hours decided maybe I'd try to buy it but ... it was sold out when I went back. Oh well.

The fact that I happened upon one tells me the stock situation is improving , it'll still be hard to get one anytime soon though. Well outside of the splatoon 2 launch , I think Nintendo will ship quite a few consoles for that game.

Where? I've yet to see a single one in the wild and I travel between Miami and Lake Worth often.

Riddy, I walked into the Walmart on flagler and 91st ave and they had four behind the glass. I also was in Best Buy in South Miami a few days ago and they had them. My wife saw a couple at Target in South Miami and they even had them at the gamestop in North Miami Beach. Online showed there were a few in Hollywood and Boyton Beach too.

Wife wanted one bad, so we went to a Best Buy and a Target with no luck. Tried calling around to a couple Walmarts, and finally found one with one left. We rushed to the store to get it, but literally as we went to ask the guy, someone else was buying it. Wife was so upset, but we called one last Walmart. They had four.

When we got there 20 minutes later, they only had two. We snagged one and have been playing Mario Kart for the last six hours.

Yeah, there's still a situation. Seems like Walmart restocked today and also sold out in the same day.

Ordered mine from Amazon Italy and had it delivered where someone I know is staying before coming back home. I just hope it arrives before their return day.

No joycons available, no matter the colour, though. Id buy them vomit coloured if I could,

Here in central Minnesota it seems Targets are usually your best bet at finding them in stock. Especially mid week.

Haven't checked in physical stores, because I'm lazy.
But in Sweden, both Neon and Grey is readily available with at least 50+ in stock at most online retailers.

One place, cdon.com, had a slight sale on them even. But to be fair it was a sale on all 3 consoles.

The best thing about buying new consoles in this era is digital downloads. I didn't have to locate a mint, non-dented copy of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to go with my Nintendo Switch. Simply awesome.

Gave up trying to get one off Amazon UK to ship to my home country. (Usually buy new systems off there)

Funnily enough at the mall this weekend I saw one in an electronics store. Converted from my local currency the price was $596.00 lol

Cross post from the Japan lottery thread. Last saturday at a media markt in Germany:

Online it said the whole time that none are available. It was also both grey and neon. Picked up a neon one!

Well, the stock for Grey has been stabilizing very recently. Webhallen had no Greys available online or in any Stockholm shops just a few days ago.

So...uh, any guesses on how long the yellow joy-cons will remain in stock before they sell out when they're released this month?

Florida...? Flager St...? West Palm Beach?

I'm so, so, sorry.

It's fully stocked there now. 50+ online with both variations. And both are available in store aswell around Stockholm now according to their webpage.

Can confirm this

Was at pretty much Every large retailer store this weekend in Sweden in the capital and the shelves are FULL of Switches, been like that since launch

Cant believe its success by seeing the situation here in Sweden

I will pick up one next year hoppfully its still in stock then... :)

I'm sure an employee hates you right now.

If it really was for said employee they could have taken it away when the shipment arrived and would have it at home already though ;)

Could someone possibly jog my memory on if there are any good USB to HDMI cables that work for the Switch?

Is this even working? -And if, why not use the dock instead, as it also powers the unit?

Buy them all and sell them on ebay for 429-499 Euro.

Demand won't be satisfied until early 2018 (perhaps longer). At this point, it's quite clear that even a substantial supply increase won't be able to satiate demand for the console in a number of markets. The Switch is a bona fide success story for Nintendo.

Edit - I actually meant this for the Japan lottery thread, but since it also applies here, I'll leave it.

I was at a Meijer (major American mid-west "superstore" chain) just last week and this is what the Switch visibility is like:

V9mpObo.jpg

A handful of Switch games stuck in the Wii U section. There is zero Switch signage, no indication that this is the new major console from Nintendo. You can see that this aisle is half blue for Wii U and half red for 3DS, with logos for both systems everywhere. Nothing advertising for Switch.

Never in my life have I seen a console launch like this, where the damn thing might as well not even exist when it comes to retail displays.

It's honestly not that surprising. A number of retailers likely had little confidence in the console before launch and now that it's sold out, with little stock coming in, they're in no rush to expand space for the system.

This will change by the fall.

Doesn't Nintendo send out retail signage to rebrand aisles? You're telling me the retail stores just threw that shit out?

All the same, this is the softest console launch I've ever witnessed from a major player.

Yes, but retailers have to be willing to order enough inventory to supply the shelves. Not too much Nintendo can do if a company like Meijer isn't initially all that interested in selling a lot of Switch product. I mean, most retailers at least have Switch branding.

At the same time, I do think Nintendo launched this console in a far more conservative fashion than normal. Partly because of the Wii U failure and partly because of its release timing (March).

The system took literally everyone by surprise.

Is an MK8D bundle for 380 euro a good deal?

Is an MK8D bundle for 380 euro a good deal?

Typically the Switch costs €330 (at least in the Netherlands and Germany), and MK8D retails for between €50 and €60, so €380 for the bundle is a decent thing - not a huge saving or anything, but it's definitely not a rip-off.

Is Nintendo producing more of the Neon Switches in comparison with the Gray?

I have only seen the Switch in stock a few times in stores very briefly and when I did see it was always a Neon set. I have yet to see a Gray switch in the wild.

The more I read about Switch shortages the more I think I was at the right place at the right time when I bought mine.

Seems like this was the case in the UK. Grey was unavailable for over a month up until recently whereas Neon's were everywhere.

Whatever the average price of the switch plus the game then look and see if it is worth it.

It is a must own game if you have a Switch so if you want a Switch then yes.

Thanks. So I should not feel buyer's remorse ; )

Frankly Im surprised at how stocked they have the wii U section in general. The wii U sections in the usual suspects retailers are pretty barren wastelands.

Just like retailers were excited after the Wii, they are now burned coming off the Wii U.

That's a huge hurdle for the Switch, and somehow it overcame it.

I think by Christmas time a different tune will be singing.

It's been three months! This is rather bizarre now, isn't it?

EDIT: Anyone know the total sold/produced so far?
It took me at least three months after the Xbox 360 launched for me to get one, and it was a used Core version (no HDD) $60 over MSRP.

And I was assuming I'd get a 360 at launch, so I had already bought a game, controller, and memory card which were just sitting around for months.

I've seen 3 locally over the last few weeks.

Two in the store I bought mine where I paid about £40 more than Amazon for the benefit of getting it on the spot. Both Neons.

And one in the closest CeX that's second hand and looks like it's had about a year of use already.

But then I've not been actively looking as I own one so ha! *smug dance*

That may actually be more indicative of how Nintendo feels about Meijer, rather than how interested Meijer is in the Switch. Or maybe Nintendo's reps aren't very good in the Midwest...
