So... how will videogame tournaments work on the xBone?

I got the information from twitter last night.

@supermoose201 @jchensor @FloydLatos Mike Z said on stream about the PS4, wired controllers like arcade sticks will work even if DS3 doesnt.

I looked it up myself on the twitch archive and got very lucky.

That's where Mike Z talks about DS4 and wired controllers. All he says DS3 incompatibility doesn't effected wired controllers, but he doesn't know if that effects arcade sticks or not.

edit: a little further on he explains why the DS3 won't work the the PS4 - because the DS3 has analog buttons that the DS4 does not have.

hell ya, thanks for finding it man.

Just listened to it, it's not a 100% confirmation but it's potentially very good news.

Probably have one profile per game or a master profile (provided you can be logged on, on multiple consoles) with all the games being used for the tourney.

Definitely a tricky situation...

MLG doesn't play Halo 4 in it's tournaments anymore. They do some irrelevant online stuff.

The short and long of it is: They don't care. If every single person who plays at tournaments stopped playing, it wouldn't even register as a blip on MS' radar.

Halo 4 still generates tons of revenue on gamebattles where the overhead is pretty low.

In another thread there is talk of the xbone seeing how many people are in a room and possibly performing some kind of action like asking for additional payment if the kinect deems that too many people are experiencing the content on the xbox.

Not sure if this is still just a rumor or true but that would only add to the problems of running a tournament on the xbone wouldn't it? I mean, with some of the crowds that gather for behind the players, plus the players themselves... if there is such a limit surely a tournament setting would set this alarm off.

I would love to hear from TOs about what they think so far of all this xbone business.

I'm bumping this to ask if anything has changed since E3 and all the "clarifications" MS has given about the xbone.

From what I gather it's still going to be nigh impossible to run a tournament ala SF4 on the xbone.

Any new info that you guys have found that either makes it sound easier or harder to get a tournament up and running on the xbone?
