I don't care what it's rated. RE3 turned me off the series. It's not like the survival-horror genre was all the compelling to begin with. It was fresh on the PS1, before it was overkilled. I haven't bought RE4, and probably will never buy it. I don't expect to rent it either. But for what it's worth, I also despise the Silent Hill series too. Great ratings mean nothing in genres that have been rehashed a bazillion times. PEACE.
resident evil 3 is to resident evil 4 what super mario world is to super mario 64

seriously, the difference is so dramatic that comparing the two makes one look foolish.

Well I love the GameCube - and not just because I have little kids (I do, but with Katamari and EyeToy I actually think the PS2 is a hair better as the kiddie console) - I have a lot of friends who just aren't into gaming and the GC is one of the best multiplayer experiences for mainstream non-gamers. We play the heck out of:

Soul Calibur 2
MarioKart
Mario Golf
Donkey Konga
and especially Mario Power Tennis

"kiddie" is sometimes just a way to also say "accessible to non-nerds."
:)

Many people love Super Mario World compared to Mario 64 (I'm one of them).

RE4 seems like the "FF7ing" of the RE series to me.

Don't waste your time. He's said the same shit before, with the same people trying to convince him that the game has practically nothing in common with RE/Survival Horror genre of old in terms of gameplay. His loss...
