So, I shot some cats this weekend...

Lived on a farm, they can become real problems. Cats in the wild arent the pet store/home cats. Not only are they far more feral, but they also muster up dirty.

My grandmother decided to just take care of them tho. Built a house for all of them and fed them on a daily basis. They stopped being a problem. Unfortunately SOMETHING came around one year and destroyed them all. All we found were spots on the ground where fur was gathered, couldnt find anything else.

Look...my only qualm was that he posted about it on an internet forum. Did we really need to know he killed some cats? I mean, damn, keep it to yourself. Unless, of course, this is ok. I'll post up the next time I kill some flies and wasps.

Do we really need to know about Olimario's girlfriend? Or ned flanders' pretend sexual exploits? No, but unless you feel like protesting in every useless thread with too much information you dont have much room to talk.

I'm curious, does everyone who puts forth this argument fire more than one neuron?

There's a sharp, sharp difference between eating animals and shooting them because you're too cheap and/or lazy to contact animal control.
Considering the granDparentS asked him to shoot them, i doubt they have the option of calling animal control. This is assuming that they're smart enough to go through it properly (I like giving people the benefit of the doubt instead of rushing to conclusions like most people on this thread), but not wise enough to know that there are oddball "save the feral cats" bleeding hearts groups out there.

My point with asking that question is that nearly every animal that we eat is also cruelly disposed of and yet, they only care about something that is far from being a pet. Even animals considered to be pests are just as inhumanely DispoSed of (ex: mouse traps) and I doubt many people here would even care.

People here need to realize that these animals were NOT pets. There's a HUGE difference between the ones you keep at home and crazy psycho (in my experience) feral cats.

That's pretty creepy and awesome. It's hard to imagine a predator that can actually kill an entire colony of cats like that... unless it somehow trapped them in that house and butchered them as they tried to claw their way out.

Hmm, or was that your granDmother'S intention all along? She has a pet monster hidden away that couldn't take care of the cats, so she tricked them into staying in one spot by building a house/trap and putting food in it?

That throwing stick stunt of yours has boomeranged on us.
The funniest part of this thread was the description of a "spraling 10 acre farm" as if it was something large. Not spike's grandparents,' someone else.

No it wasnt all in the house. Over the span of a week the cats just became more scarce and we found spots where fur was sorta flattened against the ground in a circular pattern, like maybe they were pounced on.

In Australia, they have cat traps in the outback, and I assume the cats just starve to death before they're found. Here in Miami, strays are a big problem. Cats, unfortunately, are too good at hunting. Too efficient predators for their own good. Unchecked, they kill everything. Our cat was friend's with a possum in our backyard, but recently, he's killed two of the baby possums and left their carcasses in the yard. He threw up right next to one of them too, so he must not be doing it for food. Just a cold-blooded killer. Cats rock like that, but I wouldn't have a problem capping a few to keep their populations in check. PEACE.

People in here have some seriously fucked up values. Especially the people saying they'd go as far as assaulting someone to prevent the killing of wild cats. What are these people doing while millions of cats and dogs are put to death in Animal Control centers every year? Why should taxpayers or his grandparents foot the bill for someone to come out and trap these pests when a 5 dollar box of shells will fix it just fine? Do you people even understand what nature is like? Do you expect to capture all the cute animals in the world and put them in zoos and control their population and never let them hurt each other? The people who value the pain of wild animals so much need to answer this. You guys seriously live in a fantasy world.

Listen, I like pets, but these are fucking feral cats. I don't really give a shit either way, but some people are making a mountain out of a mole hill, here.

I think the funniest part was when somebody misspelled sprawling. Like they were good at spelling or something.

Perhaps I was wrong about the size of this farm. I mean, this was a big fucking farm. I thought that 10 acres seemed like an adequate size.

And yeah, giving animals a chance to live is fucking stupid. Why should we do that? Besides, breaking the law is much cheaper. I don't expect all of the cats and the world to live forever. I just think that animals should be treated humanely, instead of shot in the face.

What good did the $5 box of shells do in this case? He killed one cat and injured a few others. That seems more malice than population control.

Oh, and in my fantasy world when a dullard with a gun shoots an animal and leaves it alive to suffer, it's called cruelty.

It's not like these cats would live either way. If they were caught by animal control they'd strangle themselves on those hooks they use to catch them or draw them out of traps. Then a couple of hours (or days) later they're killed through a means that is thought of as inhumane (in some places they use a gas chamber).

No one wants to take care of these types of animals, which is why even those groups who help feral cats just put them back out in the "wild" after they're sterilized. The granDparentS obviously didn't want those cats there so they would have been killed.
