So is Hellblade II now the King of Realistic Graphics?

I can't believe that you're serious with this.

It's one the most realistic, highly complex and detailed natural environments in the game to date with excellet level of detail and view distance, complex geometry and realistic rock formations, water behaviour etc. etc. All of what you see on screen were scanned from the real world and in 3D. C'mon, man.

Look at Unknown 9 in comparison...

Jesus, ugh:sick:

First....ain't worth getting bent out of shape over my man. Second....you pretty much said what I'm talking about earlier in the thread....

What I mean by realism here is the pure technical level of visuals, not the actual realism of the real world and in that sense Alan Wake 2 is also anything but realistic with all its mystical, paranormal and out of this world aspects, which pretty much can be said about Control and Quantum Break as well.

I agree with that entirely.

So it looks like the winner but unfortunately it didn't sell well enough nor does it have enough gameplay to be considered. LOL.

For narrow spaces with invisible walls everywhere and tons of post processing yes, but there are many games that look more impressive to me because they are infinitely more *playable* with high fidelity to boot.

HB2 is just a cutscene game, so it should maybe be more appropriate to compare it to real time cutscenes in other titles

I thought the scree and the large rocks looked bad. None of it looked like actual physical geological processes had placed it. The landscape looked procedurally generated without giving much thought to immersion. The actual design level design with the flat ledges everywhere further ruined my immersion. Instead of clambering over these rocks, the winding yet straight paths were like some kind of theme park line. The faces of the main characters look spectacular. I was surprised by the chunky polygonal waves. Sea of Thieves has better water.

When we are talking about "Best" graphics, what do we mean exactly? Closest approximation of the real world? Hellblade 2 sabotages itself over and over again. Level of detail on individual items? Hellblade 2 excels at this only on character models, and that's something we've seen before in other UE5 titles Like Immortals of Avernum. The character models there are not much worse that in Hellblade 2, and there's an actual game going on behind it. I am honestly far more impressed by Cyberpunk 2077 with path tracing and the Last of Us 2's environmental details and consistancy.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Perhaps. The bigger question is whether the game reached a large enough audience to register or be in contention, and from the numbers, I don’t think it did.

Tech demos tend to look great, but real games? it's not in the same conversation as actual games that have systems in place beyond walking

The irony when the real game is more of a walking sim than the game demo which is a rail shooter with cutscenes

I don't think you've played Hellblade 2 based on that comment. To say the environment, particularly the natural rock formations look bad ..is silly, just because the paths the character walks on are linear ...hellblade 2 has the most realistic looking geology of any game and it retains detail far into the horizon and is combined with great gi

Yes, it is.

It's also the king of mediocre and repetitive gameplay tropes. How can a game that's only 6 hours long be so damn boring and drawn-out is beyond me...

I think the king is still flight simulator, many pics look like real life.

But sure if we talk about """"""""""""""""""normal games""""""""""""""""""", then yeah hb2 is king for now.

People are in for a brutal surprise if they think gears6 can match this level of perfection unless they make a literal corridor with not much on screen.
