Wait and see. I have a gut feeling Snake is going to control very much like Sam does.

:lol

Kojima said the MGS4 teaser gave a bunch of hints about how MGS4 would play. Many believe that the Sam Fisher section was an example of Kojima saying that in comparison MGS4's Snake will make Fisher seem like a robot in terms of movement (which is why when you first see Splinter Snake he sounds like a robot when he makes a step). So I really doubt you're you're to see him controlling or moving anything like Fisher.

Err, that was an experiment. So they messed up once, why should that end the series? SH1-3 are some of my favorite experiences this gen. I want more!

Oh, I've had no trouble with the games. Stop ruining this thread with talk of Linear Cell.

Well the third one is playable but the mechanics for these games are broken to say the least and lets not talk about the damn animation....heck if it wasnt for the Konami logo you would never associate both MGS series and SH as games from the same company.....

Dude, seriously. It's not an MGS thread. It's a TGS thread.

I'm not trying to spam. I'm actually looking forward to the next Metal Gear Solid game. I hope they improve it and bring some more believability to the series.

Dr_Cogent said:
That's funny, because I thought Metal Gear Solid 2 was boring as shit.

The pendulum swings both ways I'm afraid. At least I have an open mind about the next MGS game.
Look at it this way...

I've given EVERY Splinter Cell game a chance. I can truly speak from experience. You, on the other hand, cannot.

The EXPERIENCE of SH1-3 are truly otherworldly, however...

Don't have a PS2 anymore (buying a PS3 most likely). I played MGS2. That isn't representative of the game series? It's supposed to be the crown jewel in the game series. Right?

I have played both series. I just ended up liking SC is all. I hope MGS gets a facelift. The camera flying in space while you can see the whole layout of the map and where everyone is - quite frankly - silly. I want more games to be like Ghost Recon. More believable and true to life.

In other words, you hope they ruin it. MGS isn't suppose to be believable. The base game is suppose to be over the top and wacky. That's why people love it, because it doesn't take itself completely serious like many other military games.

One, MGS2 is NOT the crown jewel. While I loved it, it is the probably the least favorite of the majority. MGS3 is a massively different game and most much prefer it. The updated version being released this fall will include a Splinter Cell style camera. You know all this.

I do not wish for it to be more true to life, however. Ghost Recon? Good lord no.

Not necessarily the story per-say. They can have a good story. I don't mind that. MGS2 story was stupid IMO and I am sure they could do better.

What I am talking about is the gameplay more than anything. The fixed camera flying in the sky crap has got to go. It's so dated.

Fixed camera's suck. RE4 really drove that point home.

MGS3's story is not crazy at all. Good lord.

A version with a fixed camera is coming as well.

Why do you continue to act as if you don't know this? We've gone over this time and again. MGS2 was far and away the strangest installment and a game that a lot of people didn't care for. MGS3 won those folks back.

I was told subsistence isn't coming out on the xbox so STFU
Stop being cheap and/or biased. At the very least, buy a PS3 and play it on there. You'll get your chance...

I'm not being cheap and or biased. No one knows how MGS4 is going to play out as far as control.

I think that would be MGS3.

Did you miss all those posts/threads proclaiming the best game of this generation?

Yep they can, its called MGS3.

Theyve already said that its going to use a 3rd person cam (look at the Subsistence trailers if you want an example of what MGS4s camera will likely be like). Theres nothing wrong with its actual gameplay though.

Yes, I hope whatever Kojima does he ignores Cogent completely. Splinter Cell is a great series, and it has its own place. MGS is a phenomenal series because it's not like that. It's full of fantastic, memorable bosses and, yes, an over-the-top storyline and action. But it's brilliant, and nobody should change it.

Ever.

Also, new TGS Dedication avatar for me! Try to name all the games in it!

WTF MGS2 is the CROWN JEWEL of the series??

:lol :lol :lol

Its probably the worst Metal Gear game ever......still bitchslaps every Spliter Cell game (yes I own all the Xbox games)

Dude, everything you keep complaining about is fixed in MGS3. Do you think they are going to regress? It's even brutal as hell, which I know you like (much more so than Chaos Theory).

HomerSimpson-Man said:
MGS2 is still the most polished of all the MGS and impresses to this day, the rain effects and smooth 60 fps is ace.

Yeah, I was always impressed by that. Truly amazing water they had in that game.

Just chill dark10x! Sheesh! I'll play your most beloved game eventually.

It's not about that...

It's the fact that you continue to bad mouth the series using complaints that don't apply to the most recent game. It's like "I HOPE THEY FIX ____ PROBLEM"...and we're all like "THEY DID". What's the point of them actually trying to improve when you won't even take notice?

Hey, that's fine. You clearly have no interest in it and any chance you'd give it would only be brief and act as a way to say "SEE, I TOLD YA IT SUCKS". Don't even bother...

MGS3 was awesome aside from a couple of the really long cut scnenes in the starting.

MGS2 after the tanker was CompleteSHIT.

Splinter Cell:CT owns them both when it comes to stealth gameplay IMO. The previous SC games were pretty bad tho.

Well, the honor of worst Metal Gear game should go to Snake's Revenge but from this moment on, let us never consider it a Metal Gear game again.

No. No I won't. I will give it a legitamite shot.

Kojima thinks highly of the Splinter Cell series himself, geez lighten up guys. I doubt it would be like SC, but certain mechanics would always be interchangable.

Their approaches are pretty different as MGS series seems to be spreading itself towards a free range open ended approach to gameplay and a more versatile combat system it already started in MGS2 where it was your choice to where you wanted to move on the Shell, the whole Close Quater Combat changed MGS dynamics a lot, you can be a stealthy as you like or gun ho as you like, or in between. SC is very methodical and tense in it's stealth appraoch.

I play both games for a different experience.

One thing about the controllable camera I will like is that I can appreciate the visuals even more the the preset ones, I always did that in SC, there are really beautiful scenes in MGS3.

That will be so true in subsistence. IMO the backgrounds in MGS3 looked even better in first-person view.

Yeah, I think these guys take this shit WAY too personally. It's like you're insulting their mother or something. :)

True dat. Lighten up guys. I like SC, you don't. I didn't like MGS2. There are more important things in life to get upset over.

I'll most likely play MGS3 & 4. I always have an open mind when it comes to games.

OK, off to help a friend getting into the industry right now.

It's a shame that joke doesn't work anymore. :P

If they really want to take it to the next level for total immersion they should really let you have headphone output for radio/codecs during realtime gameplay ala SOCOM, that would rule.

Since there's going to that Nintendo speech and conferences from different companies beforehand and whatnot, anybody have any kind of schedule/timeframe of all these events?

"If they really want to take it to the next level for total immersion they should really let you have headphone output for radio/codecs during realtime gameplay ala SOCOM, that would rule."

for truth.

Hell - add it as a stealth element.

Where sound plays a bigger part - you have to get a message, but you are in a noisy factory - so you have to get somewhere quiter - but then their is a chance someone might hear you etc... etc....

IMO, the codecs screw the flow of the game and the sooner they are gone the better.

Well, MGS4 is the only thing that matters.

Oh, but I guess news of the Rev controller is somewhat interesting, though.

If MGS4 is shown in unplayable form (which we expect) then it should NOT be game of show.

That is all.
